OmegaSlayer, this is a BRILLIANT idea! Are you sure you will find time to keep this up-to-date? It may be a lot of work for you! Maybe others can help you? I know that hilightnotes is very good at spotting great levels, but I don't know how we could share this? Well done, though. I think this will work really well. Thank you! | 2009-08-30 21:41:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
Unfortunately only mods could help since they can edit other peoples posts. I began from the last page. I'll be a sloooow turtle but I'll do it. In a week I think I can catch up, if real life allows me. I can't get to work on my level since it's too hot here in Italy and I can't manage to stay focused in front of the PS3 for more than 10 minutes, si I have quite some spare time And thanks to all of you, since I know you will really be helpful My only worry is that at a certain point my first post won't allow me to add more hyper links, so maybe we shall have to erase all the comment posts and quite lock the thread if we want everything fine, clean and handy. | 2009-08-30 21:51:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |

Nice idea, it'd be great to have a list to refer to. Any of the really early levels that people still have hearted especially, a lot of mine have all disappeared due to the hearted limit. It's funny I stumble across this thread, as I have been thinking lately of a similar idea (but not the same) of posting an extension thread of my Expert Platformists group that indexes all of the advanced and expert platformers. But mine focuses on hardcore levels for players that like extreme challenges. But the index idea is somewhat the same. Now I'd feel like I'd be copying if I posted my thread I was planning. Then again, mine isn't summing up all the recommended levels in this forum. Mine is a reference of any hard platformers people come across as we have been providing each other with recommendations in the Expert Platformists group. But since there isn't enough room in the Expert Platformists group to keep this index, I was going to make a thread as an extension from the group that the whole community has access to for those that like a challenge or want to recommend one. I guess I can still do it as it isn't really copying. But nice thread by the way. Great idea. | 2009-08-31 09:16:00 Author: Unknown User |

Burn, unfortunately I can't copy that stuff with hyperlinks and colours. You should edit that and put all your text between the tag [_CODE_], without the underlines. Updated other 2 pages. I highlited with green the creators that must be considered for everyone of their levels. As always, every update/feedback is precious. Thanks. | 2009-08-31 20:00:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |

Can I put in a vote for adding the following level which MrsSpookyBuz originally recommended? I really think it deserves to be included. EDIT: Sorry, OmegaSlayer - just realised that you didn't want any suggestions for inclusion until you had finished your first run through! Just ignore this for now. I'd like to throw in a 2nd for a level that Julesyjules put up earlier: The Ancient Castle by OIL_ This is one of the most ingenious levels I've ever seen... including a boss dragon that almost seems alive. Fantastic. | 2009-09-02 01:06:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |

Thank you all for the great feedback. I need to update at least 7 pages. I still don't know how to manage multi-recommended threads and I'll try to work some kind of format easier to read/browse. But I have to finish to order this thread first. Awesome thread! I don't have much time to go through all the levels I'd recommend now, but here's a few that aren't on the list: hf65fgh MachinesFort(ver1.23) (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=14608) MKT3 Automaticscroll (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=14609) natuhito MIST valley (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=14610) soarecucolti The road to Dracula's castle (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=14613) EDIT: not positive what you're using the green for, but if it's simply to make an exceptional level stand out, I would highlight automaticscroll by MKT3 in green, as I think it's an insanely fun level with great replayability and great implementation of a unique idea. | 2009-09-03 05:44:00 Author: hilightnotes Posts: 1230 |

First of all, I want to apologize for not having worked on the list, but I didn't have time at home. In regards to the levels spotlighted, you guys have a point, that levels are people's recommendations, but I read some threads were other people said: "No, this level is lame, it's bad designed, not worth a second", some thread has no reply at all, while good levels have usually mooore than one reply. I also left out levels that are already in the Community Spotlight, since you can find them elsewhere. Shall we add them? So, shall we want to recommend everything or only good stuff? Let's talk about it Shall we want to change colours? OK It's a work in progress, so let's shape it with the best ideas. Basically I would like to point out ALL the good levels we can find out, even from the guys around here, but probably we won't be able to do it with forum post, so I was thinking to evolve and bring forward this project with a .doc or a .pdf file. But anyway I would like to have some feedback. | 2009-09-03 10:34:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
Keep the good levels in only and nothing from the showcase or active members on this site. Maybe you should explain what green and red text mean in the first post. | 2009-09-03 10:45:00 Author: Kipmonlin Posts: 251 |
Keep the good levels in only As we've already said though, I don't know who should or would decide what is 'good'. I know the thread is called Recommendations of Awesomeness (lol!), but I'm sure people posting here wouldn't recommend anything particularly bad. People may have a different view though. I'll go with the majority, but my feeling is that we shouldn't mess too much because of subjectivity. | 2009-09-03 12:37:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
Well, if you check the threads... first example...there's only the OP that says: "last night me and my wife were playing some LBP and we went to the "newest" levels and found a **** themed level. It was amazing. U should check it out. " second one... "This one is a toughie. Touted as 'hardcore oldskool platforming - novices need not apply', *** throws you into some brilliant level design that really does harken back to the platforming days of old - think a tough-as-nails MegaMan in lieu of Super Mario Bros. 3, please! The challenge manifests itself through some devilish set-pieces, which include a wide variety of different things - vertical drops, climbs, precision jumping, the old running-on-the-moving-treadmill one - the level design will scare you upon meeting each new challenge, because really, how the hell are you supposed to get past that?" Reply by Jaeyden "Couldn't get past the part where the walls close in. After getting to that area on 4 different play throughs, decided to let it go for another time maybe. Would be cool to be amongst the few that have finished it." And other people said that the level was quite broken. Another one... OP "You should check it out, it's different then other levels as you have to solve small puzzles to get to a next part." The only reply... "not great needs work and is bad on the eyes. the puzzles aren't terrific either." Just to make some examples... | 2009-09-03 13:08:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |

I think OmegaSlayer is right that someone needs to decide on the exact purpose of the list being compiled. Obviously, the recommendations forum is an open house in which any member can post a level they think is great and want to bring to the attention of others. Is the list meant to be a straightforward index of that? Alternatively, is the list meant to be a distillation of the really good levels that have been posted and, if so, then who is to decide what goes in the list? Personally, I think the latter form of list would be a more useful tool than a simple index. After all, that is tantamount to just putting the threads in alphabetical order and anyone can browse through past pages of threads to hunt up levels as things currently stand. A list of "good" levels, on the other hand, has a bit more added value, in my view. However, I can fully appreciate what Mrs SpookyBuz is saying. It IS less democratic, even if the forum itself would still be as open as ever. Perhaps if there were a panel of judges (made up of those who post on the recommendations forum most frequently) and a level only needed votes from a majority of the judges to get onto the list that would allow for levels that appealed only to some and not all to get on. This might preserve some of the subjectivity. And, obviously, the aim would be to include as many levels as possible not just the very best. Anywho, just a view... | 2009-09-03 14:35:00 Author: shropshirelass Posts: 1455 |
I personally think you should add "Seal of Silvraen - Shadows of an Ancient Era" by Vmethos to the list, and also "Tomb of Light" by Marynor. These are two wonderful levels that I love very much, and I think more people need to give them a try. ^_^ | 2009-09-03 15:35:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
Tried the Roma World 3D and the Dinosaur Island levels (first was the best). I don't know why I was so surprised about it, but there really are tons of incredible levels out there that people are making every day. I don't know about the 'purpose' of this list, but I intend to start playing through every level that makes it on!!! | 2009-09-03 15:36:00 Author: Kefkaas Posts: 86 |
I vote for Omega to be the dictator of this thread I will continue to recommend levels and if he add them this list that is fine. We don't know what features Mm's future website for LBP will have. If they can come up with some great way of browsing for good levels. Like that we can have a list or a planet in the game with our hearted ranked by order of low plays or an all time top ten list. I like combing the forum for great levels to play so more action in this recommendations part is welcome. | 2009-09-03 16:38:00 Author: Kipmonlin Posts: 251 |
I would even be glad that the levels here desrved to be recommended, so if a jury composed by MrsSpooky, Burnvictim, hilightnotes and Kipmonlin decides unanimously that a level doesn't need a spot here, I'll delete it at once. This was directly from the OP. I intended it from the beginning. A level needs 4 bad votes to be out of the recommendations, so I think it's quite fair. And I want to do the most useful thing for people, not being a dictator. (Thanks btw Kipmonlin ) | 2009-09-03 16:52:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
Good points everyone, how about this- while me and Omega work on compiling this stuff, you guys have fun playing the levels If theres anything you think DOESNT deserve to be on the list, we'll give it a go, and take action as seen fit. That seems like a good enough decider to me- the people have spoken! | 2009-09-03 17:36:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |
Okay, good points everyone. Like I say, I'm happy to go with the majority. We have the Level Showcase and Spotlight for members of this site. Should we think about having a Recommended Showcase as well? That way, everyone can still post any levels in the Recommended section, but a team of members could play them, and decide whether to either put them on OmegaSlayer's master list, or have a seperate 'sticky' for Showcased Recommended levels. Or is this going a bit far? I only suggest it because it would be a little more organised, and the work wouldn't be just down to one or two people - we could have a team of people. As I say, these are just thoughts and suggestions. I'm really happy people are USING this section again! Anything else is a bonus! | 2009-09-03 17:56:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
Fine then, I want to say that I didn't meant to offend anyone in picking the 4 "judges", I only picked the ones that in these latest week have been more consistent in recommending quality levels. I don't think CCartman will give us a section for something Spotlight-style and I don't even know if we can pull out 10 levels every 14 days...but this is a start. We can start with this step, make the little that we're doing good, and enrich it slowly. As I said we can even make a sort of Encyclopedia of good levels update monthly and downloadable via pdf including the Community Spotlights...but we need time. Let's see where we'll reach together, but let's place some checkpoints here and there. | 2009-09-03 18:32:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
Yes, we'll all have a think about what is possible, and because it's for the community, we could always ask them what THEY want by adding a poll to the thread at some point. I think we need to know what exactly we want to do before approaching CC about it. After all, we need to know what we're asking for before he makes a suggestion or decision. | 2009-09-03 18:46:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
All right, everything seems to be coming together. There are some levels on the list I have missed so I'm gonna check those. Should we think about having a Recommended Showcase as well? I would love to see that. It doesn't have to be 10 levels every 14 days. There are so many great underplayed levels by creators that aren't on this site. It's tragic that some horrible levels get 100'000 plays and some brilliant ones have less than 100. Anything to draw attention to great levels I welcome. | 2009-09-03 19:02:00 Author: Kipmonlin Posts: 251 |

VMethos Seal of Silvraen - Shadows of an Ancient Era (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=7780) I think this level is worthy enough to add to the list. ^_^ Also, you've got "tomb of light" on there listed as "unknown" ... but the author of that level is Marynor. | 2009-09-04 19:45:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |

/bump. Are you still working on this Omega, or has this fallen by the wayside? | 2009-09-29 01:46:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |
OK, some needed updates. The first post doesn't allow me to add more text (since there is all the hyperlinking that needs a lot of characters). So I must figure a way out. I thought about some kind of Word or Excel document available for download. I have the space to host it. I would prefer Excel since it's time saving, but I don't know how many people would be able to read the file. This solution however will mean losing the hypertext. I assure you the work has not gone down the drain and I'm willing to do it, but my LBP time has been severely restricted to the point that I don't even find the time to play a level and do a decent F4F and try to bump my level. Actually I'm avoiding the recommended section because I don't want to discover cool levels that I don't have the time to play... Kaz Hirai, during his speech at Tokyo Game Show, said that we're at 2 Millions level, and playing everyday, for 6 hours a day you would need something like 30 years to play each one... | 2009-09-29 07:00:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
I see that no one answered so I bump the thread. I can't edit and add levels in the first post anymore, so I have to work a different way. I can work on it on this Sunday, if I miss this Sunday, I don't know when I'll be able again to work on the index/list since I'm really busy in this months. So...this is important would you guys prefer a Word or an Excel document? I will take count of the answer, and I will make the document the most of the people that answers here wants. | 2009-10-14 13:00:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
@Omega It may get messy for you to use Word or Excel. Maybe an alternative way would be to 'quote' your original message, copy all the text (including all the code), paste it into Notepad or other text editor. This way, you can update your .txt file, copy and paste it over your first thread by editing it, and keep doing it as things are added or taken off. Just an idea - but it might be easier for you. | 2009-10-14 19:38:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
Spooky, he means he hit the character limit for the post. The only solution I can think of is to edit the second post to continue the list. ....which upon checking, is conveniently Spooky. Lol. Maybe y'all can work something out? | 2009-10-14 22:53:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
MrsSB, you can delete your second post, that way his becomes second, and he can continue the list there. Then again... eventually you'll hit the same problem, so maybe it's better to just make the switch to a txt document or something now. Or you could do it in a blog. | 2009-10-15 01:57:00 Author: hilightnotes Posts: 1230 |

I made a thread similar to this one last year. A list of recommendations + pics! Take a look: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=7307 You can get to play some forgotten oldies there. Some of those levels are aging very good. It's possible some have been erased since but anyways... I will also upload by hearted list to this thread if people are interested. In my humble opinion it's easier to just go into other people's hearted lists but since you guys might prefer coming in here... . | 2009-10-15 18:10:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |

Yeah, I literally sacked your list while writing this tuff, and the when I first got online I sacked your heart list but, even if my connection i quick and steady, it takes forever to load the heart pages, so a printable list can be better for quickness and easyness. | 2009-10-16 06:22:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |

Oh, so basically my hearted list is pretty much in your opening post? Or it's worth I still list stuff here? . | 2009-10-16 06:46:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
Oh, so basically my hearted list is pretty much in your opening post? Or it's worth I still list stuff here? . Yeah, the opening post contains levels that are suggested by users here, lists included...if you add stuff on your list, I won't check it out unless you give me an heads up I left this site's creators out, but it has been a great error, that I'll try to mend. | 2009-10-16 13:31:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
Ok. What I will do is simple. I will go write down my hearted list and I will only post what is not there in the OP. Once I posted my list, you will update your OP at your heart's content . | 2009-10-16 16:16:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
