Whichever Way the Wind Blows- Gold. *SPOTLIGHTED* (With video)

Whichever Way the Wind Blows- Goldladylyn1
My third (and probably final) installment of the Whichever Way the Wind Blows series. However- there is NO order to playing these levels!

This time your journey takes you to a desert and into the ancient temples that surround the area. There is much more of a focus on puzzle games rather than platforming in this level! Also there are two different routes to take (one being only for multi-player).

I hope you have fun and you will see that I've used the layer glitch again in this level, however not as spectacularly as the RED level.

I would love to here any feed-back you got (even if it's bad!) also please notify me if u find any bugs. thanks!

Great level!!!
I just finished playing it and I can say you did a magnificent job. I'm a visual person and I really appreciated the details on your level. I don't know how to describe the theme that you had going on, but it was great. Also, what you did with the lighting was amazing. Great atmosphere! I can also say, that is the best use of the 3D glitch that I've seen (even though I don't support it)
The puzzles that you had going on were pretty good too. I really couldn't find anything wrong with the level. I enjoyed it a lot. Keep it up.

When you get a chance, can you try my f4f level: The Descent 2?

i didn't know what you had to do

Just finished - here are my thoughts:

Pros:
- Nicely designed; I liked the use of the glitches
- The timing puzzles were very cool and original
- I liked the option of the multi-player area, and since you've already given me a run through of that area I can say that it fits well with the rest of the level
- All of the tricky platforming was done really well
- The boss was epic (as usual) and I liked how it was possible to beat the boss without dying (although that's still a challenge!)

Cons:
- I really liked the small "story" you put in the second level, and found myself missing it in this one
- I noticed in the beginning you fall down into some ruins, but when you go back up the door is missing, but the hole is not there anymore .. maybe there's an explanation, but I initially thought it was awkward.
- This is really small, but the level as a whole felt less detailed as your other ones ... there was less "eye candy" imo
- For a level that is a finale in a series, I felt like this could have been wrapped up better - maybe it somehow needs to answer the question, "Why has sack-boy been traveling around in these balloons and where is he going?" (but maybe that goes along with my story comment)

Overall:

Thanks for the feedback!

Just wondering what hole you talk about at the beginning?

Yeah I agree there is less detail and probably less use of the layer glitch in this one than the red one... but i struggled to think what i could put in a desert other than sand lol!

Still this isn't meant to be the last in the series cos there is no order to the levels, but when i get back from uni i might think about making one last boss that wraps all three levels up!

Thanks for the stars and heart!

Just wondering what hole you talk about at the beginning?

In the beginning, you fall from the balloons, run over to a little mountain, go up the mountain, then back down, and as soon as you land on the bottom, the ground gives way and you fall into some ruins.

You play through the ruins and eventually make your way back to that same mountain, only to find the door missing (which is good) ... but the ground gave way before, and now it's back to normal. That just seemed strange to me (maybe I'm just being picky?). Maybe instead of the ground crumbling, there could be a trap door that resets itself once the player falls through? Just an idea...

GREAT level I enjoyed it alot. Great puzzles and gameplay.
Even though there is a multiplayer section. I think multiplayer is a no go. It makes two sections way too easy. The boss. If two players had paintinator one would shoot the switch and his paintinator would dissappear while the other player was not underneath the switch. He could then go under and shoot it again. Doing 2/3 of the boss in the time it takes one person to do one. And If you have three or four people it is even easier and shorter. And the bridge section doesn't work well with more than one person.

For playing with one player: :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart
Multiplayer::star::star::star::star: and no heart.

Hmm..I'm not entirely sure about this one. The level played fantastically! and the visuals were nice as always. Once again the use of the 3D glitch was cool. What bothers me though is that the feeling that RED story was a lot better. Although the boss in this one was great! The "sand" and the ruin's floor look a bit too neat, as in the floor was completely flat in some sections. Maybe make it a little bumpier. I'm also sad that the little story in RED didn't make it here. All in all I think this was a nice level but not so good for a finisher. It if this came second and RED came last then this would have been amazing! But still it's a really good series and I'm glad I played it! Hope to see more! Oh and it's probably only me but could you make the timer for the left side of the bridge a little longer? It kinda bugged me after getting there. Then again it might only be me =X
:star::star::star::star:/Brilliant/Hearted!

Oh it seems like you didn't get my F4F request on your RED thread? If not than here it is again!

F4F anytime soon? I really appreciate it! SIREN: [The Lost World] (Episode 2-Otherside) please! thanks in adavance! more information is in my signature. Thanx!

Thanx again!

Thanks! Yeah i didn't intend to have an order... just a group of levels!

Play the RED one last and pretend its just been published lol!
(tbh i much prefer RED too)

I might be rounding off the series with a final boss battle, so u can look forward to that!

yeah i just checked its fixed! The problem was that u couldn't press the button above the checkpoint but now i believe u can... sorry i really should be more careful

Yep, it turns out I loaded up the level, then went and made dinner, ate dinner, then played. So I was still playing the bugged version. NP though, I played again. With regards to being more careful, I think this happens to all of us. I have to republish setbacks around 3 times after each update because each fix I do breaks something else...

Anyway, I think my overall opinion on this is the same as the poster above me. It's great, but not as good as the red or blue ones. That's not really a critisism, I loved those levels and this is still :star::star::star::star::star: It just doesn't have the same engaging atmosphere as the others, I can't really explain why, and it's probably just a personal thing.

Anyway, I think I had a few points to make about this:
1. I didn't know why I was solving the first puzzle on the first run through. I just saw a puzzle and did it. Not significant.
2. The bridge puzzle was a pain. Really nice original design, I just assumed that once it was all down, it would stay, so had to do it twice.
3. Also at the bridge puzzle, I couldn't see the gas underneath, kinda upset me when I died - any chance this could be spikes?
4. In the boss fight I found stage 2 harder than stage 3.

As ever, very minor points, pretty much nothing wrong with the level. I very much doubt I gave you a creator heart because I normally forget, but I will be doing so later

Yeah i agree with everything you say... i tried to stay away from the layer glitch more this time (rather than in RED) just incase it gets taken away!

Still it was hard to follow the RED one, which i thought was best, but i wanted to make 3... and trust me this is much better than the GREEN one i had going!
(That would have been an epic fail if it had been published!)

Yeah i like the sound of spikes instead of gas! (If i have any space i'll fit it in)

The boss: yeah i think level 2 and 3 need to have a more obvious level of difficulty although i do think 3 is a bit harder.

The bridge i'll make a lil longer... a lot of people have found that pretty frustrating!

Thanks again!

Odd...it's strange to start this level having just landed...having played the first episodes I feel like "cheated", (mind my English perhaps).
The level was cool, great use of the 3D glitch and great platforming as always.
The first puzzle is quite cool even if it's not completely clear where you have to put the 2 little "keys".

Other point is the boss battle, since the paintinator is almost invisible since it's covered by the two red X.
I needed a lot of time to figure that the paintinator was there so I constantly tried to get on the platform over the paintinator.
You can at least put spikes over there to make people understand that they don't have to go up on that platform.

I rated the level 5 stars and gave it a heart, since mine are really minor complains easy to tweak.

PS. I loved the structure in the background just before you fall, it seems really cool, but the players don't have time to see it.

I played this last night and really enjoyed it. Saying that, I did prefer the other 2 wind levels more, I just thought they were a little "prettier".

I thought the highlight of the level was the bridge puzzle. it took a little while to figure out but not long enough for it to become tedious which is perfect for a puzzle.

I thought the boss setup was excelent and I love the thought that went into this.
Overall you have created a great set of levels!
Thanks for sharing it

Ok, yeah i might put some spikes on to make it a bit more obvious!

I thought people would get tired of the balloon rides lol! I might add one then!

Maybe 2 shorter balloon rides.
Without them it's like another level.
The balloons are a wonderful theme that glued the levels, then they have that relaxing feel at the beginning before the levels (that are on the hard side) and leave you with a sense of satisfaction when the level ends.

Excellent level! I haven't played your other levels, so I didn't know what to excpect. The puzzles were really cool, I liked how the bridge puzzle is timed. However I didn't understand what the first puzzle did, the one after you fall down. Maybe you should make it a bit clearer what it does. Really cool boss, I liked that it was different stages on it, with some different attacks.

Cons:
- Sometimes it took a while to realise where I would go next like I didn't see the hole in the mountain at first or that light-thing you have to hold on to go up.
- What did the first puzzle really do?
- No story. Why is the sackboy in a balloon, and is he doing in that ruins?

I haven't tried the multiplayer yet though.

:star::star::star::star::star: 5 stars and a heart, really good level!

I finally got around to playing this entire series and I've loved each one! The visuals are very nice and you've done a great job at mixing up the visual styles within each level. I really liked the attention to detail, like the pebbles falling from the ceiling.

The platforming and puzzles were well done. I especially liked the puzzle where you have to pull the rocks from one side of the tunnel to the other. Very simple, but clever use of elastic and fun!

My only complaint is that I found some areas of the level a bit too narrow and sometimes tricky to navigate due to unintended layer transitions. This was especially frustrating during the boss battle (which was very cool!) when I would hit the button and then I would try to jump down to the floor only to jump back into the cannon, or I'd be in the front layer trying to jump, but then would switch to the back.

Overall though, I had a blast with it and I'm enjoying the series very much! I can't wait for the next one!
