Pulley System

Well i was think they should make a pulley system.
I know you could make something with switches and what not to make you own pulley type thing but really should that be necicery.

What do you think.

You mean you would just like strings to not be able to pass through layers? It would be nice if there was an option to enable/disable that.

If they were able to wrap around layers, then we could make our own pulley systems.

yeah, comphermc, thats a good idea.. i think they also should make things bounce, like the gold ball and stuff... then the physics would be more realistic...2009-08-30 17:00:00

Yes that would be cool I remember when I first started creating I made a spool and hook a string to it. I was expecting it to wrap around the spool and another pulley it went around and in turn lift a door.2009-08-30 18:43:00

Yeah, I was a bit annoyed when I found out that you can't have pulleys.

There should be an option on ropes to turn physics on/off.

I'm pretty sure that rope physics aren't even coded into the engine, so they would have to develop, code, bug test, etc before it made it out to the general public.

I was just saying that it's something that should be there.

It may be in LBP2, though.

i know there is a way to make material in tiny triangles connectedto each other in a long strand like a rope, but i have always been annoyed that ropes dont have physics.2009-09-01 04:27:00

Near the end of Cause and Effect 2 I have a fake pulley type thing.

You just have to winches that have the same speed. When a ball lands in the left side that's high, it triggers a directional switch that makes the left side go down and the right go up, so it looks like the weight of the ball is moving it.

It may be in LBP2, though.

I don't think that LittleBigPlanet 2 will be coming out for a while, especially when they can add updates as big as water into the first one.

Just made something that simulates rope physics, it's a rough design but I suppose it could be adapted into a Pulley System with some tweaking, search my name to find it, it's called "Rope Physics Simulation"2009-09-01 23:13:00

There should be a Pulley Wheel object, which combines two strings/chains into one. The string/chain would be tweaked via the pulley wheel tweak menu which would override the tweak menus of the strings/chains with the exception of the length of the string/chain.2009-09-04 14:53:00

They should just make and release 'rope'.

It'd be like the string, but with physics (as in you could make a pulley)

You could swing on it, or even climb it.

any kind of string physics would need to break the "rules" of the normal connectors in that it would need to exist on a single layer only. Therefore it would need to be something new. Just a slight point.

But yeah, I think rob29's rope idea would work pretty well.
