Since the vault is hosted online and unlocked you can play it under any name to obtain your items/keys should you need to. It is 100% secure with a customizable passkey. The passkey can be very simple or highly complex; it is up to you.

Warning: This might be a bit tl;dr. I'm rather thorough sometimes so I can drag on a bit. -.-'

Level: halomcap's Vault - Public (With Tutorial) WARNING: Lots of text!

Extended Description:

Awhile ago I read somewhere on this site about how it was a good idea to back up your data in case of hardware failure or other problems that might cause one to lose access to their hard earned creations.

There were a number of suggestions, but my favorite was the idea of a Vault. And online storage facility where you could safely keep your items. The Vault would not be locked so that you could access it from any name if you needed to.

It is also fantastic for storing items online to save on profile space.

So...I've completed my Vault, and I've made a copyable public version for everyone.

It has an in-level tutorial that explains how to use the Vault and customize it with your own password and such, so there is quite a bit of reading involved if you want the vault for yourself. Though, if you're in need of a good and secure vault mine is top notch.

The Vault is 100% secure. It has 3 stages of security. A skeleton key, the blind movement test, and a password room. The password room is quite unique in that you can make it extremely simple or extremely complex. By simple I mean literally a single input (via one sticker), and complex by using up to 90 unique stickers (though that is overkill if you actually do that, I think, lol).

That same sticker system also prevents people from just guessing and putting stickers all over the place, because if they place just one extra sticker in the wrong spot it locks them out. There is no confirmation of a correct input upon entry, so if they guess and get it wrong they need to do the whole thing over again...and I doubt anyone would take the effort to do so. :3

Anyway, onto the pictures! I could have made the vault simple on pure function, but why? I spent a good amount of time on this making sure it was awesome.

The following are of the extended vault door, built simply for fun. It uses four doors, front to back. Goes thin layer, thick center layer, thin layer, thick back layer. It then emits the reverse in thick layers that appear one at a time as Sackboy rides through.

OK, I think you win the prize for most convoluted vault access mechanism 2009-08-31 19:33:00

Alright - I just tried it out and wow.. I have to agree with rtm223 I gave it 5:star:'s and a heart, and I copied it because it actually is a good idea. I can't count the times I've had to delete stuff because I didn't have enough room in my profile. And hey, even though this level may be a bit over the top, it looks awesome! great job!

If you get some time, try my F4F level, Real Myst: Channelwood Age and let me know what you think. Thanks!

Haha, thanks!

Oh, and convoluted = hard to access, so, mission accomplished.

Ya I played your Myst before I think. It was good. :3 I'll go back and do a real F4F on it when I get the chance. (I'm stuck in my Moon right now...literally, I have like 5 projects going. @.@ I can't peel myself away to even make a real meal, lol. Instant noodles ftw!)

Edit: By the way I made my Vault so complex for a few reasons:

1. Why make anything less awesome?
2. I'm paranoid about people stealing my stuff/levels as I've had baaaaad experiences in the past with other games and people stealing my stuff. If I spend 40+ hours on a project, which is the minimum I spend on pretty much anything because I'm SO picky about details (I've put like 100 hours into one of my levels that is my longest running project, I mean c'mon, you should see my @.@ craziness about the small details spending like an hour on one tiny little baby itty bitty thing >.<), I certainly don't want someone getting their grubby hands on it and claiming it for their own. Talk about RAGE mode right there.
3. I've seen a couple of vaults and lockboxes online where if you go to the comments people have figured out the password! I couldn't have people doing that, now could I? So I made the password variable. Not just a simple order or number input on a screen or keypad, but something that could be numbers, or letters, OR a drawing of a triangle, or a random pattern, it doesn't matter. People won't guess that one of your characters is just a single sticker on a single block (if you choose for that to be your password, lol). XD

...you can see that I have issues with being thorough and over the top at the same time. >.>;
