Well, I brought this up in the new IRC chat on LittleBigCreation, and Marino wanted me to post it here, so here ya go: According to Einstein, space time is in seperate layers- i.e., now is an almost flat patch of space time, some point in the past would be below, some point in the future above. Matter makes bumps and ravines in Space Time, so it isn't completely flat. Anyway, if matter creates bumps and ravines, then shouldn't it be possible for a bump or ravine in space time to be SO deep or SO high that it touches another part of space time? Thus, if Einstein's theory is correct, time travel may be possible. However, how are we supposed to create a large enough bump or ravine if the entire world can't? thus, we look at einstein's most famous equation: E=MC2. Energy= Matter times the speed of light squared. some people may know what the symbols mean, but many don't understand what that means: it essientally means that energy and matter are two forms of the same substance. So, you should know where I'm going with this: energy can be used the same as matter. So, if we condense enough energy, we MAY be able to create a large enough hill or ravine to touch another part of space time- making time travel possible. However, we wouldn't be able to go whenever- just as long as the machine is on. We can't go any further then when the machine is on, because before that, there is nothing to create the hill or ravine to touch that part of space time! So, no preventing the past- unless aliens made another space time thingie that has been turned on for thousands of years, in which case we could use THAT one to travel as long as THAT one has been turned on... And, if for some reason the power for such an important machine is lost, then we wouldn't be able to travel in that time period because it's not generating the warphole. Anyway, hope that made sense- thoughts, opinions, flames? Because, if you flame me, don't, because this is a team of scientists using Einstein's theorys to fifure out how time travel is possible. Yep.

I'm not a genius, considering I didn't even think it up, I watched it on some Discovery Channel Show. Some guy wanted to go back in time to stop his father from dieing, and came up with theorys based on Einstein's theroys- of course, he can never ACTUALLY go back to save it father based on the fact that that would be before the time machine is turned on, but yeah. If Einstein was right (although he did come up with many ideas that still are accepted even a hundered years later...), then this may be right as well.

Yeah I was thinking that maybe when the LHC at CERN finally gets up to full power and they start colliding particles they might spark off something weird that we've never seen before that might let off high energy results. Last year me and my mate were talking about this and said exactly what your saying about the fact that you can't theoretically travel back further than when the situation you were explaining happens and that is why we haven't had anyone come back from the far future yet (where they might have the technology to time travel). If the LHC did set off some reaction that allowed the hole to happen then people could start popping up straight away with loads of answers for us to make everyone's life's change lol JUST A THOUGHT

Have we not learned anything from south park, all this will do is create a way for people from the future to come here and take our jobs, LOL. But yeah very interesting thought, I think it is possible that UFO's are people from the future visiting the past, that is why they don't come down and say hello.

But, Darth_Spartan, if UFOs are vistors from another time, and this theory of time travel is corect, then that would have to mean that we ALREADY have some machine turned on somewhere that is capable of time travel. 0_0

Good hypothesis, although i can tell you it WON'T be happening in our lifetimes. Unless someone creates a wormhole or time mechanism by accident, or luck.
