THE ART VANDALS!! (Pictures and video!)BabyDoll1970

You've been sacked from your job at the local gallery - so with a little help from "inside man" Ed, you can wreak your revenge by leaving a trail of destruction through the gallery - after hours. Using paint guns, stickers, specific switch triggers and brute force, you will be able to find not only incredible satisfaction, but remove obstacles and find various rewards... then make your little-thought-out escape. But it all ends well... or does it?
I'm willing to do around 10 F4F here, but let me know which levels you want me to F on... or if you're just leaving feedback, please specify that too. Thanks for looking! (P.S. Photos are dark because you're playing at night, so to speak, but all is quite visible during game-play... it's just my crappy camera)

This is my most recent level and the one in which I've experimented the most with timed switches. There have been no end of problems (full thermo AGAIN) but they're basically all ironed out now... the ones that i can fix, anyway. Occasionally during online game-play there have been some glitches (a paint gun that won't work, plasma sensors don't work, the phone might break or dialogue goes missing) but that has been rare. Just giving you a heads up, that's all. On my saved file they all work 100%.
The video footage is too small for the dialogue to show properly, so glossed over it a bit.

Great level! Original Concept with an authentic museum style. Had alot of fun! Loved the Intro and the ending. Just one recommendation, sometimes it's not clear where you need to go (or what to do!). I recommend a speech bubble because less patient players might leave. All in all a great level with a great concept.

Thanks for that! Yes, i agree and will add a couple of speech bubbles as I'm sure people are not only a bit confused but possibly missing some bonus points (eg the vases). Did you figure the vases out and get the 100 point bubbles? Maybe it's a bit obscure...
I have tweaked it a little since you first played it - changed many of the switch triggers to use any sticker, rather than my choice. Have still kept the smiley face though.
Cheers!
P.S. I'm from Melbourne, Australia : )

Great idea for a level! Breaking into a museum and stickering and paintballing the art, sweet! I loved all the ideas you put in this and the design and atmosphere was really well done, great stuff.

Didn't manage to finish though, i came unstuck at the moving boxes section. The claw broke moving one of the crates, so i improvised and pushed the boxes with my one remaining pincer and managed to make a way over, but the door wouldn't open, presumably because the boxes have to be in a particular place for it to trigger. My suggestion here would be to just let the player trigger the door just for getting near it however they manage it, it might not be what you had intended but if the claw happens to break, they're stuck.

A couple of other suggestions - maybe tweak the lighting so that the security spotlights are a little more visible, i dies a few times because i didn't see the boundaries that clearly.

The first door that needs a smiley sticker could do with a subtle hint, either visual or text. I finally figured out what i needed to do through trial and error, but it's those sort of things that can lead to frustration with the more impatient players.

I'm definitely happy to play it again though, its got a lot of charm!

Hey, julesyjules, thanks for playing! Sorry you didn't get to finish it, but do try again because the ending is fun (and I spent forever nutting out the security guard in the next room). I will do something about that Socrates character with the smiley face door trigger... maybe a bubble (will have to do it tomorrow).

Yes, I know that pesky crane can break occasionally... not sure what to do about that, other than to improvise as you did. The box blocking the exit is the only one that needs moving, really, as you can jump down from the crane rather than go back to the start of the room.

The switch for the large door is on the wall above it. You reach it via the crane by going as far as you can to the right. I might highlight that with a light, perhaps. No doubt others have missed it too...

Will take the rest into account as well. Thanks again - most helpful : )

On my first try I gave up because I thought the level was broke. On my replay I thought a little harder and the title gave me the clue i needed.

It's a really well designed environment. Not a thing out of place and super-details like the imperfections on the pillars are neat. The museum setting is perfect for the searchlight, a really underused asset in LBP. I never once questioned why plasma kills me in a museum, somehow you sell it as totally authentic. The mummy casket was terrific.

You have managed to squeeze a lot of gameplay into a relatively small area. The claw broke on me but I jumped down like you said above so it was not a problem for me but I can understand some players giving up there. That section mixed up the gameplay a bit which was good.

When I finished only three people had completed the level and I was in third place. On my first run I got some bubbles in the long glass shaft but the second time I couldn't figure out how to get them. A clue please! You had a much higher score and I didn't die a lot so there must be more to find? I got all visible bubbles. I think the first time more bubbles came when I shot the love sculpture but I could misremember.

I had a lot of fun playing this level and then checked your other levels. Some good stuff like the creepy one and the carnival themed one but I had no patience for granny! I just turned off my PS3 and the titles escapes me!

I you want to return some feedback check my level link right below.

Haha! Poor granny! Was it her personality or the manual labour you had no patience for (snigger)?? That was my Workin' for the Psycho Granny level - also on Showcase at the mo'.
Thanks so much for taking the time to play it (and some of my other levels) and for the feedback : ) Yes, there are heaps more bubbles to find. It depends on switch triggers (some hidden), mainly, and hidden paint gun sensors (hence the advice in the intro not to leave any art or artefacts undamaged - like the love sculpture, for example) but the ones in the shaft are triggered by the grabbable switch on the roof to its right. You access it by jumping on the pillars then up onto the ledge to the left and run along it. You get a prize bubble and then there's the switch.
There's also a big stash of bubbles associated with the 3 vases. Did you work that one out? The speech bubble I recently placed there should help if you missed that one.
Yeah, that stupid claw... anyhow, as long as you move the box a little, no problem. Any suggestions on how to fix that? i'm not sure where the 'weak link' is on that - in terms of construction. Would it help if the bolts were larger?? I might have a fiddle with it later on.

Yep, will return some feedback in the next couple of days, happily : )

I finished this time! Well as good as, my ride wouldn't open when i got there. (laugh). Won't give too much away there, but i'm sure it's easily tweakable.

The crane worked good this time too. I reckon you still need to darken the main museum section (specially round near the 2 masks and the office) , i still died a few times by running into a spotlight i didn't know was there. It'll totally tie in the level if it's a bit darker anyhow.

Great job on this, its one of my recent favourites. : )

Thanks! I'll check out the van door... it should have dissolved and then you just jump out. Maybe I should put a flipper in there to TOSS you out?? That could be kinda cool... and not unrealistic : )2009-08-28 00:04:00

I didn't want to do her chores when stuff kept falling the ground and then I had to get back up and try again .

I ran around for a good while and thought I got all switches and shot at every item and stickered every surface. Guess not. Well I had a good time and the level isn't atrociously long so I'll check back soon! I believe I yanked a few times on that switch you point out. Maybe not or it's a problem. Don't remember about the vases...

About the claw. The size of the bolts makes no difference. Try changing material. Maybe to one from another category. Tweak the settings on them too. That's easy to try.

I finished it after accidentally quitting the level near the end when trying to answer a message... It was a nice little premise, and a pretty decent level.

It was the minor things that made me cringe a little when playing. For example, I can see the background in the intro in some places, which really ruins the flow. Funny little story, but I was distracted by the sky.

Then, I went to answer the phone, and the global lighting changed before I even got behind the planter. I grab the phone and let go, meaning I missed out on all the dialogue . You may want to use a permanent switch here, and wire it to the magic mouths (on/off mag key switch, inverted, and placed near a key of the same color that is attached to dissolve. Dissolve the key away with a proximity switch, etc...).

The inside was very well handled, with all the art and such. I wasn't sure what was going on with the crane, as I just jumped up there, dropped down and continued to the right. The ending was done well, but my ride had trouble letting me out at the end, as julesyjules mentioned. I think I gave it 4 stars.

(yes, I did get your message )

I tried to change material on the claw but it maxed out my thermo. Looks like it will have to stay crappy for the time being until i figure out what to do... and will try tweaking the bolt settings. Have fixed up the start, as suggested by comphermc and also the phone switch although you do still need to grab it to trigger the dialogue, but it will continue even if you let go. Have also worked on the final exiting of the 'vehicle'. Hope it's good enough this time.2009-08-28 04:12:00

I think I've tinkered a bit too much and apparently there's an occasionally recurring glitch with the paint guns. If that happens, you'll know about it pretty quickly, so just start again. It doesn't always happen. My own HDD file is fine - seems like it's just an online problem. Sorry!2009-08-28 13:17:00

- by the time the player has read the warning that he has 6 seconds...well, never mind.

-The intro is Absolutely great! Highly funny, and enjoyable! Sadly many players have little patience for intros in general, so it's be nice to have a grab that allows you to skip it.

- I got the pass key from the office, but it doesn't show up as a switch trigger, and while I get the success sound when I put any other sticker on the glowing pane, nothing seems to happen. Am I missing something?

Yes, you are missing something. The switch trigger is there, but it shows up in the 'switch trigger' designation on the PHOTOS page - I guess because I took a photo to then use as a sticker. If you know how to relocate it in the pop-up I'd be very grateful. I know people have had the same issue with my Tomb Raider level. I only noticed this relocation of photo switch triggers after the first LBP online upgrade, but it could've always been that way and I'd just never needed to create my own before that... it's a mystery!

Also, how would I do a grab to skip the intro?
