maze

i'm pretty sure this is where this goes. i want to make a level but i am horrible at making actual levels, so i wanna make a maze like mario's maze in super mario bro on nes. well without the continuous loop if you dont get the right tunnel you are in a loop, well maybe. I was thinking like jumping on platforms and running until a juncture then have to choose which way to go, i thought of it while watching a cave special so...
anyway, the point is, I would like ideas or input. like should i go with a plain jane run right or left to the end, or should i make death pits, should i go with take this elevator. i want to make a level, some level, i would prefer a good level that people will like. i dont want to do it for trophies or stars or hearts, i want to do it because its something im having difficulty in and im the type to master my weaknesses. i think getting a level together is a step to being a better creator.
Also, i dont want references to other peoples mazes, i can figure that out, i want interestes, what would you guys want to play

Maybe put in subtle clues about the paths. You could do a quiz, but make it difficult if you're doing that, most LBP quiz levels are to easy. Making it funny could work aswell like, when they go the wrong way, you could make them have a funny death somehow.
You could include simple puzzles/ challenes along the way too. I'm not full of ideas at the minute but I'm sure you'll be able to think of some more.

I don't know, like figuring out where to put switches in the right place (colour coded), finding a hidden switch somwhere or having to shoot down turrets (if you have the MGS pack).

Another thing, 2X challenges make multiplayer a lot more fun. They could be simple like P1 stands on button that opens door P2 goes in to collect points/ prizes or it could include more complex mechanics (check story levels for some good examples). Make sure the prizes are optional too, prizes take up space on your save game so some people don't like to collect them.

why not give them a tethrless jetpack with enchantment removers and both sides of the maze? and when water comes out, (in the water pack, i wached carefully and saw an underwater timer, so its possible to down) make it so you need to go under and find air pits to get thorugh some parts?2009-08-26 23:55:00

It depends on who you are trying to appeal to. Are you aiming your level at hardcore maze lovers who just want to spend hours working their way through a complex set of corridors and pathways? Are you aiming it towards action/adventurers who will enjoy running around, dodging traps and killing enemies? What you make rests heavily on who you want to play your levels.2009-08-27 00:05:00
