Like the description says this is a remake of the first level in the series. If you've played the original then you should see the resemblence in the two as I stayed to what I'd already made, just better I've also added hidden cogs for score throughout the level 5 in total and I added a counter at the scoreboard to show what you've found. Please tell me about any problems and be sure not to jump into some windows. And if you do manage to get in any, just try getting out a few times, as far as I know you can get out of all.

I again used color correction though of course it doesn't show in the pictures

You must really love RoboTown. Well I do too and I was online when you published and got to be one of the first to play this installment.

I did get stuck in a window and another place too. Hard to describe where though. By the two winch elevator I could jump to the left into a pit. My own fault - I just got to try everything!

Appealing design and atmosphere, varied if somewhat simple gameplay and awesomely liberated of condescending speech-bubbles telling players what to do. Nice job!

This is a well created level with a good set of buildings and environment. I think you've done a very good job with the decorations and jets/smoke elements and that they blend in with the environment and help flesh out the intended feel of the level.

I see that you have the falling scaffold bit re-emitting which is a very well done piece and a godsend for many players. I found that you can miss the invisible dark matter patch and fall in the gas easily and was very happy to see this reset.

I like the many crooked elements in the level from the buildings to the telephone/power lines to the ground and wall elements. It really gives off the air of a foreign mind at work here, one that doesn't build or think in clean parallel lines.

I saw that I could jump off to the left of the last lift over the railing and walk under the platform. (I think this is one of the last lifts, the one that has a wall/railing on the left side. If I let the lift go up a bit then I jump off to the left I can get over the wall on the left side.)

There isn't anything under this platform but a drop off to gas. It'd by nice to hide a score bubble cache under here but oh well. It really is an invitation to players to go down there with the obvious gap and fairly low wall.

The final zip line was very well done. It was long enough and loopy enough to be a satisfying ride plus you've decorated the rear layers very well so that it felt like I was moving through parts of this town rather than an empty limbo that I see in some levels.

My reaction was to keep dropping off of the zip line to walk around looking for hidden areas but I resisted.

Once I drop off the zipline at the race end gates I notice that the last building is in the center layer and I'm able to walk to the left behind it for a little ways.

Nothing hidden back there though but I thought I'd bring it up.

All in all I felt that the level was very empty and quite. It was very well done and detailed yet it felt a bit like the level templates that MM has created. Almost like this was the first step, create the level, and you've yet to add in the people/robots/adversaries.

I know that there are two or so robot looking guys but there is a long and open level here but it was almost all devoid of any type of movement or life. I imagine that there may not be much room in your thermometer for a lot of creature brained robots but I thought I'd bring this up as well.

Good work on this level. Cheers.

Really cool level as always.
I loved the real lonely feeling that permeates it.
And your ziplines are always the best!

Hello,

I noticed many of the same "bugs" as Trindall did and I also agree with him that this is a very well done level. I loved the way everything lookd, from your material useto the canted angles of all of the buildings and structures. Having said that the level does feel a little but empty in places, especially considering how great other areas of the level are. Perhaps try peppering your level with a few more baddies and an obstacle or two more. Again, this is a great level and I had fun just seeing all of the sights, but I would like to see a bit more replayability.

All in all though, I definitely recommend this level, and I had a blast playing it. The zipline at the end is wonderfully done.

As far as the F4F goes, if you would not mind playing "The Adventures of the Prince: Chapter 1 The Attack, I would appreciate it. My level thread can be found by clicking on my sig.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'll block off that little dropoff when I can aswell with a few other issues I know about.

I see what you guys mean about it seeming a bit like a template, someone even said this in the comments. I just kept creating what I know I had to do to really consider it an actual remake to me and the original is really the same. But I'll see if I can add any moving parts or such to get rid of that empty feeling.

And I'm glad you all seem to like the zipline

@jump_button, did you actually play the level or are you basing that off of pictures alone.

I think that the empty feeling is a trademark of the series.
You should add something like "moving unliving objects", like jet propulsors blowing smoke, blinking lights, moving platforms on the back thin plane...something like this.

Yeah I agree with the empty feeling, though I did actually have a lot more robots in the level which I had to take out unfortunetly. This is probably what had an impact on the overall empty feel, not necessarily the intended desterted feel.2009-08-27 19:34:00

Pros:
- Looks great - I loved the quirky junkyard feel
- Lighting is nice
- It's not frustrating
- Definitely has some originality

Cons:
- I felt like there could have been more Robots? I mean, it's called RoboTown.....
- It wasn't frustrating, but maybe a little too easy
- I was left wondering if there was a story .. there doesn't always need to be, but I kept wondering what the main point to the level was
- I would definitely put some invisible dark matter over those windows behind the elevator (towards the beginning of the level). I jumped in the windows a couple times .. I probably wouldn't have jumped if I didn't see that first roof to the right

Overall:
4:star::star::star::star:
I definitely think you have something with this level, and has the potential to be a 5 star with a little work.

F4F - Check out my "Real Myst: Channelwood Age" if you have the time - thanks!
