Star Trek DS9 Level

Archive: 16 posts

so i have been watching DS9 from start to end recently. and i was thinking of making a DS9 level. i was wondering if people would find this interesting. i would make the whole station. and probably some kind of attack from cardassians or the dominion. i made the basic outline structure of the station so far. anyone have any ideas? or is this a horrible idea?2009-08-25 01:51:00

In my opinion, if you're making something you like, its a good idea This by far beats "when the russelsmuscles fell" and the "OVER 9000 JUMPS!!!!" levels that have been spammed into oblivion
There are definitely a few trekkies onboard here, so i think you're in good company. Though i've personally never watched DS9... about the only trek i think i've missed lol. There is a series called "Attack of the Borg" by Ajnknox (sp?) which are trekkie levels (not DS9 i dont think) and has been spotlighted (if you wanna check em out).

Oooohh - I'm a huge Star Trek fan and would love to see your take on this. Check out AJnKnox's Borg levels if you want to see how he interpreted the Star Trek Universe too.

DS9 could be cool to do though - you've got the wormhole you cold try to make and I'd love to see a version of Quark's bar. Ferrengi in LBP could be really funny. The station itself would be cool to see too.

Keep me posted if you decide to work on this

Burnvictem42 - wouldn't that be lobes? (geek joke)

comphermc - geek, I prefer geek. I'm no good at math so nerd implies some extra math smarts that I don't have. Actually I've been referred to as "Queen of the Geeks" by my friends but since I don't think that's a title likely to impress I just go by geek. Now YOU on the other hand are just way too smart.

Make it so, Nosada!!

A take on Deep Space Nine is not yet seen on LBP so far I think.
It's the only Trek I have not seen, besides a few episodes and that awesome retro Tribble episode.

But I know enough about it to enjoy a level based on it.

Hmmmm, DS9 was just a big old rip-off of Babylon 5. It is very very good though, and Sisco (sp?) rocks

@Morganna: nerd implies a lack of social skills - that's the difference between nerds and geeks. You'll never get nerd-chic (it doesn't even rhyme for starters)

DS9 came out before Babylon 5, not to mention that B5 was originally developed by Straczynski as a Star Trek series. BTW, it's "Sisko".

It's nice to see someone making a Star Trek level, there aren't nearly enough of them. Of course, you can't make the WHOLE station, but I think I know what you mean. Early on I attempted to do a Star Trek Enterprise level that takes place aboard a deck by deck recreation of the NX-01 from a schematic. I planned to have you running around the whole ship defending an attack from Suliban that crawl around the walls, turn invisible, change shape, etc. The whole ship would shake from weapons fire too. At some point I realized I had to FILL all these decks and that my plans for it were too complicated for me to handle so I gave up on it.

B5 was pitched to paramount around 5 years before DS9 came about - they wanted none of it specifically because it wasn't a Star Trek. Then DS9 came out, which was very different to the preceding star treks, but with many similarities to the concepts pitched in B5.

Of course the differences between the two are far greater than the similarities, and in fact the similarities are all pretty superficial, compared to what each show is, deep down. The whole thing is a big silly Fanboy argument, I just thought it'd be amusing to bring it up.

For the record, I really like both shows

And with regards to sisko... At least I knew it wasn't sisqo DS9 Really would not have been the same *shudders*

Lol ok, I just hate when someone calls something a rip off because of some vague similarity. BTW Defiant > Whitestar

Yeah so do I Sorry about that

And I will concede that the Defiant doesn't look vaguely like a plucked chicken - so it definately has that in it's favour

Haha, it kind of reminds me of a turtle.....a Borg killing, Breen splitting turtle.

Kage, make sure you get the Defiant in there. Don't forget Morn. Don't glue him down because I want to knock him off his bar stool!

i wasn't sure if i would add the defiant or not. i don't have any real solid plans yet. it'll be a while before i make any real progress i think...

but i will be sure to have an unglued Morn in there. that's funny.
