Korn-What happens now?

Archive: 2 posts

Hi, all. I've been thinking for a while about this, and I figured I'd ask you fine people your opinion. So, before I put the question to you, let me fill you in on the details, k?

Sometime between the Take a Look in the Mirror and See You on the Other Side albums, Brian "Head" Welch, their lead guitarist, became a born-again Christian and left the band. Now, SYOTOS was my first Korn album, so I obviously couldn't notice anything off about the sound. Now that I've been listening to some of their older stuff, however, I realise that the aforementioned album just isn't up to par with their previous musical endeavors. I think that it's the absence of Head, honestly. And, now, Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu, their bassist, has followed Head's example, found God, and left the band. (Both of them have written books on their experiences which I intend to read, just throwing it out there.) With the absence of two founding members, I now pose the question: what happens now? Where will the band go from here? They're replaced Head already, will they just replace Fieldy and hope to get somewhere near their original sound? I think anyone who has listened to them can attest to the fact that they just don't "have it" like they used to. And this makes me sad.

I think their sound has become a lot darker and experimental, and personally, I like it. Why the band members are going off to find God I haven't got a clue -__-' Funnily enough, JD says that the next album is gonna **** all over religion ^^

I do hope that the band goes towards the feel they had in their Untitled album. Everyone hates it, but I absolutely love it and think it's the best sounding album from them. The guitars were great, the drums had great acoustic whilst still maintaining a good attack...I liked it. Felt like Pearl Jam's "Ten".
