Oh man!
From where shall I start?
First of all, the level are very good looking, with a very fresh and personal style, I loved it, I loved all the things made with dissolve material without being dissolve material.
I like the overall concept and I like how you implemented it, looking like you're really on a journey.
The dialogues are funny, but maybe there is too much swearing (***** perhaps)
Level one really got me pumped, you're one of the best I've seen in making creatures, among the top 5 for sure, since they're very well designed, good looking, and cleverly realized.
And you made a lot of them.
I loved the first level, even though it has some kind of naiveness.

The problem really is level 2, since the naiveness becomes more evident.
First of all you should respawn the weapons, since I lost my sword in the boss fight when I died and grabbing it while the monster was trying to kill me, and the grabbable floor was sick...then the sword fell into the pit, and I had to figure out how to bypass the boss, and I managed to do it (since you place a boss, the player should kill him to pass by)
Then the mountain climb was really awkward and really ruins the good flow and pace of the level.
You should really make it more easier, especially the first section, that is really stupid.
I liked that the mountain was mazy, I didn't like to see some rocks that were badly stickered.
On the top you placed the best lightings that I've seen in LBP, and again no one was like another.
Good second boss battle, but again you should emit the bow everytime sackboy dies, even if in this battle is not important as the sword.

I rated the first level 5 and the second 4, hearted them and you, but my advice is to gently ask some top creator around here to test the levels and try to mod it a bit where they will tell you, since they're potential spotlight and cool levels, but there's something that is still not working as it should.
Some of their advices can really make your levels better than they are.
It's clear that you put a lot of work on them, so I bet on you and on your ideas, but take some time to tweak the levels, at least the second.

Oh man i just finished the Duo right now.

I'll start on Chapter 1: The Adventure Begins...
First of Level was a lot of fun great introduction.
Pro:

I love the style of the level, also the videogame esque feel

The detail in the house and enemies and overall level was beyond cool!

The details on the tree branch breaking is a cool thing i liked it

UNLIMITED Checkpoints great idea it gives me the motivation to finish if i should lose all my lives

The mushroom villians were a lot of fun they looked really cool and fit the style perfectly

Tree Tunnels are AWESOME!

The idea for flower peddle traveling was really unique and a fun approach

The Daylight settings were really good and made you more engrossed in the story

Con:

The second mushroom man you face i could kill i would get stuck

The giant boar that you have to dispatch of kept getting stuck and it throws off his timing which making getting onto the flower difficult

When dragging the flower the uneven ground can cause problems dragging

Overall really great first chapter now on to chapter 2
Swords and Arrows:

Pro:

The story kept going where the first left off and made it very compelling and made you want to continue(story was really good)

The grabbing of the stone to get out of the tunnel was a lot of fun IMO

The humor returns and it's greatly appreciated

Flying Boars OH YAH!!

Being able to use a sword and bow and arrow YESSS!

Tutorials are very helpful on how to use the weapons

AHH! Don't get struck by lightening(watch out it never strikes the same place over and over again)

Cons:

Killing the first monster with the sword i was a tad confused about what to do, but once i figured it out SO MUCH FUN! Also very satisfying!

When climbing the mountain I got to the top of the initial accent then fell down into oblivion and had to kill myself to get back up

The giant bird at the end seemed to have almost perfect aim and made him a tad frustrating, also when he killed me my bow would point down and it was hard to get it to point right again.

That's it though, overall i was really liking the levels, and i'll continue to play this series, i love the story i wanna find out what happens the problems were not anything huge the level was enjoyable and i really liked it.
Keep up the great work!

Oh man!
From where shall I start?

Parlando in italiano, che ti capisco meglio

Glad that you like it,but specially thanks for the really deep analysis...
I find all your suggestion correct,i will work quickly to fix some problems:
-sword (to no more lose it)
-stickers on rocks

For the mountain climbing i agree with you,me too don't like this section... but i must think a little bit about how i can change it,because honestly i've no idea

For the bow boss battle the not respawn bow was intentional,in my concept recover the weapon(using the safe path a little bit under, and jumping at the right moment) was one of the trials of this boss battle, but probably don't work... i will think at some way to fix it,but i hold the respawn idea since is probably the most reasonable choice...

For the dialogue the ***** (is a vulgar word in english?) spam is probably because i've a really poor vocabulary in english,if someone think a better way to write one of the text moment i will be glad to edit it

Again, thanks for the deep feedback,is exactly what i need to improve it!

Oh man i just finished the Duo right now.

1-The second mushroom man you face i could kill i would get stuck

2-The giant boar that you have to dispatch of kept getting stuck and it throws off his timing which making getting onto the flower difficult
3-
When dragging the flower the uneven ground can cause problems dragging

First of all dude i'm glad that you like it so much!
Be ready, chapter 3 will be really unique!!!

Now the suggestion, tell me if in your opinion can be a correct fix
1- make the second mushroom slighty slower
2- try to change the giant boar size (but bigger or smaller?)

3- but the big flower or the flying flower?(sorry,i've bad english, sometime i really don't understand)
If is the big one maybe i can make round some rough edges

For chapter two the fix to do are nearly the same of the Omega suggestion, that's a good thing because it mean that at least the huge problems are "only" those

I have only done the 1st level and at 1st i was thinking "great design but, everything feels rushed and like its being pushed on me" but, ive just re-read your description and you say you based it on the 16 bit age! Makes sense now...serves me right.

I liked the design. Also, it does feel a little cluttered and maybe a little too short perhaps?

As its a series, length ain't too much a problem though.

It is classic 16 bit gaming. Good start!

i played it again the only problem i ran into this time was when you drag the flower that glows that takes you across a gap when you drag the flower to the take off area some of the uneven ground gets the flower stuck.
That's it though, the only problem i can't wait for the third episode let me know when it's done, also the polish on the level is real great keep it up!

Yes,for the gameplay my idea was nothing conclusive or complete, just a section where you must pass kicking some monster butt toreach the next section and bring forward the story... full 16bit spirit

For the visual side probably is more influenced by Guardian Heroes and Odin sphere... but also from The Story of Thor and from Zelda,so 16 bit here too

1-ok,now i understand wich point you mean

2-One week probably... maybe more if before i begin with the level patch.
Probably the best thing is to patch sword, rock's stikers and respawn bow... and adjust the mountain climbing(the bigger fix to do) whe i got idea about how to do it
Anyway the 3rd chapter is going to be something really different, trust me :hero:

fixed some things on Chapter 2 (thanks to Omega and Kmills for the precious help):

-some little graphic change

-some stickers placed better

-the second huge bird(just after the weapon training) now is a little bit slower, more easy pass

-in the first boss fight if you die the sword automatically respawn in the original position

-the first boss now got more stamina and the collision with the sword is more accurate

-In first boss fight now is nearly impossible lose the sword during the battle(left side respawn, right side invisible wall)

-the second(and last, just before the thunders) giant rolling rocks section now is a little bit more easy to pass (rock respawn every 5 seconds instead 4 seconds)

-in the second boss fight if you die the bow automatically respawn in the original position

This series was so unique and fun!

I loved the visual style of it. And the gameplay was great too. a few minor suggestions.

On part one, the last dialogue box has a typo, and so does the one where you say you need to kill the mole.

I loved part two even more. The swordfighting felt amazing.

The only gripe I have is that a couple spots of gameplay felt a little crowded...

Great job though! 5 stars

Great level series! Amazing characters & landscapes. Excellent story line and some wicked cool sword action! Loved them.

I did find a few issues of a technical nature.

- In the third one, you have two areas that look a lot alike one with a block you move to the left to hold down a button. I - like the twit I can be sometimes pushed it right thinking it should line up with the small box you had on the platform. Ok so that's not right I said to myself, and realized with horror that you can't get the block back up once it's down on the platform. It's a level breaker. You can also wedge it in the staircase and block your way up since the stair is only one layer thick. Can I suggest an idiot proof button on the bottom before the stairs that will re emit a block on the top left of the platform. That way if someone messes it up or blocks the stair they can get a reset and continue.
- The second area after this with basically the same staircase set-up with the glass blocks you push in order to climb. Idiot me again knocked the tallest one over, then in the process of trying to right it again managed to knock it down the stairs... no way that things coming back up after that. Here I'd ask you to put another "Idiot button" in to reset the blocks in case this happens again. It's also possible to get stuck in the boxes and it's impossible to get out - Happened many times to me. With the infinite checkpoint it's not such a big issue but I'd highly recommend putting some sort of reset in these two areas.

Other than those - no issues I had. Really amazing material and sticker usage - fun game play - i'm loving this series - btw, your characters are fantastic! Everytime a new one came on screen I was blown away again and again. Great work!

5 stars & hearted! Keep 'em coming!

Chapter one and two were great but three is my favorite part so far and got me really excited about the upcoming levels. The village looks so good. Great sticker-work on the characters and cute little animals. Then the journey through the skies - WOW! I only had one little problem. In the lower right corner of the whole level I fell past the gas from the giant rotating platform and had to kill myself. I could also jump there from the small platform with three bubbles higher up.2009-09-09 03:38:00

Thanks at both for the usefull suggestion, specially for the level breaker on the "block you move to the left to hold down a button" section that i never notice

Now i'm little busy with works on chapter 4(actually it bring me crazy),but whe i finish and release it,i surely fix all the problems in chapter 3!

great levels ! I played part 1 and 2 and loved both

My only small complaint is that I got stuck in part 2 where the rocks are falling into the fire and smoke as I don't know what to do.
I pushed the rocks down but when I jump on them I die because the killer fog is too high.

The weapon is fantastic, how did you do that?

What I loved :

great art design with cool looking monsters

What I didn't love that much :
the boulders scenes were not that appealing to me and the last one even frustrated me a bit.

I must that I just love your visual design style!
It's very nice and creative! All of your characters and monsters looks amazing!
Love also the way you animated them, and the very good use of stickers on them!
And some very good ideas too, like the weapons!

One negative point, I found the levels a little difficult
and some part are not very "player friendly" or maybe need some fixing :
for example in part 1, at the big boar ride part, the boar just flipped upside down in the middle of the way,
so impossible to continue unless restarting the level.
In part 2, the mountain part was a little annoying...

Anyway... great work!

I love and hate this man at the same time.
He's such a great creator, but he doesn't do anything to promote his levels properly.

He has been spotlighted for the past 3 level, but still he's under everyone's radar.
And that's a pity.
For him, since he sweated a lot on his levels, and you can understand it at first glance, and most of all for the people who didn't play his levels.

His characters are at the top of what I've seen in LBP, along with Zwollie, Icey and Morgana's stuff.

The story is simple yet fun and with good humour throughout.
("A dino-lifter? what a waste of thermometer!" and guys you have to see that DINO! LOL)

He has some kind of innovative gameplay (the sword section in Part 4 is great)

The visual are stunning, cartoonish, colourful and really polished.

The gameplay is fun, almost ever is very smooth.

I don't know what else to say, I would spend more time promoting this guy's stuff than mine.
Please people play those 4 levels.

Yes,let's do what my marketing agent said

I admit,70% is that i'm too lazy to promote... on reality i'm even to lazy to upload some picture of VH chapter 4

But the 30% is that i'm never fullproud of my levels... take this, now i've re-played ... is'nt that bad

But when i was on creation before finish it,i was ****** because it is'nt neither near at how was the project,in my idea there was
-a bow section with a bee-nest to destroy avoiding bee
-some snakes
-all the frogs are killable
-another sword section with spiders
-a giant spider boss with some attacks( bow AND sword section)

I need 3 thermometers :hero:

Love this series. You really should make separate threads for these

Couple of things I noticed:

Text bubbles need a few tweaks:
"Jump on this platform and wait, I'll send you where he lives"
"Nothing happens...."
"A swamp? From the smell it seems..."

I really love your cool dragon flies! and your sticker work on the crocodile is awesome. Fantastic swirling thorny vines too. Awesome dinosaur! Love the material choices on him and he's got great movement.

There's a visible block of dark matter after vine area immediately after the dinosaur.

Got confused here:
After the dinosaur you end up down on that rock ledge and I went across the crocodile and swung on that bouncy sponge thing then swung all the way up to the platform by the waterfall. Couldn't figure out where to go after doing this about 10x so I backtracked and found the raft area. I'm not sure If I was going backwards in the first section then and was meant to come down from the right to the left there. May want to make that more clear.

Even with those issues I'm still loving this level. Great atmosphere and color. Whimsical and beautiful design - just fantastic work. A tad harder than your previous levels but certainly a worthy addition to this series. 5 stars & hearted. Thanks for another beautiful level to play.

I don't understand so well english and i've not understand where you was in trouble,so i try to explain what to do after the giant dino

-jump from dino head to the platform
-continue right, jump and grab a liana, that break and make you fall on the floor under
-continue right, there is a sword section, kill spiders to open a way and continue right
-when you arrive at the falls go down(better is 1 point little platform, then down+jump to go where you can see 3 points)
-from the 3 points place jump and grab the liana(at your left),that will bring you down to another little platform, the lowest of the falls
-from this little plaftorm you can see on the ceiling at your left some grabbable vegetation, grab grab and continue left
-grab the liana to the check point platform, pass the crocodile go left
-you arrive at one place with a drogonfly, kill it and go down with down+jump
-from here continue left, you find a river, wait for a wood platform and use it as a surf table to pass the river (note:to do more point, you can jump on the "king kong" arm and use it as a platform)
-continue left using the grabbable branch
-continue left passing under the huge frog
-finished!

aha - ok, after I jumped off the dinosaur I had skipped from the dinosaur until the crocodile part. I think it's because you can jump onto the dinosaur's shoulder then down and skip all the part with the sword and spiders. Maybe put some gas or block off that part so you have to go up to his head.2009-10-09 18:57:00

didnt get the same thrill off it for some reason though
i liked how you stuck mojos arms on eyes
i implimented that into a character in my halloween level
i escaped the level once at the part before the raft
the waterfall that looked like a big glass circular saw lol
one of the teethe caught me and pulled me under the level
you still amaze me in the creature department though

I really like this series, the storyline is great and I love all the little enemies and characters you've made. The only thing is I just wish you would color the dissolve material! Other than dark matter there's nothing I hate to see more than uncolored dissolve material.2009-10-10 21:28:00

are these the most underrated levels in LBP?

Seriously, this series is fantastic. You can just tell these levels were made by a true artist.... the visual design is simply amazing throughout.

Your design style reminds me a lot of zeno clash.
Have you played it GEK83? If not, you really should... It's a great game and has an art style which is bizarrely similar to yours

Anyway, as others have pointed out I did find a couple gameplay bugs in these levels. It seems the visuals are often fighting with the gameplay... too many big decorations making it hard to tell where lethal edges are, that kind of thing.

I also came up against the level-killer which Morgana mentioned: in episode 3, there are three pillars which should slide around to make a staircase. Instead of doing that, I careened straight into the biggest pillar and knocked it over. I was absolutely loving it up until then... so starting the level over was a wrench.

If you plan on changing anything in these levels, I'd recommend grabbing someone nearby and forcing them to play through while you watch. They'll probably highlight a bunch of frustrations you didn't know were there.

Anyways, :star::star::star::star::star: for all regardless of niggles. Great stuff

This series is so much different than any other I have played in that it lacks some polish but I love it so much. Your character design is fantastic and the gameplay is very unique and innovative. I loved hiding in the cart to enter the town, and the sword idea you created was brilliant. I can't wait for chapter 5. Possibly my favorite series of levels.2009-10-24 20:08:00

No joke, from you is double honour

Anyway i've yet passed the half of works... not because i'm a good point, but because i've put in something so epic-suicidal-waste-of-thermometer that is going to make seem the dino-elevator of chapter 4 a little lizard and something even reasonable :hero:

Even worst if we think that I DON'T KNOW how it must work in the level,it's just in:hero:

If it was for me you had to wait a lot, many ideas for this chapter... but since the law is the thermometer... maybe less than one week,i just hope to not must stop before can put in at least half of my ideas

Sounds to me like it'll be another great addition.. Any clue as to the "theme" of this new level?

It looks really interesting. I want to try this level. Unfortunately, I have a terrible connection on ps3 at the moment. I'll definitely try this later this evening.2009-10-27 16:33:00

I played through the first three last night and loved all of them. The whole is design is brilliant but your character design is beyond awesome. I had a new favourite with each new one i played. Loved all the quirky bits, the swordfights, the 'grabbable' villagers (snigger) , the nice and tricky platforming. Great job on these! : )2009-10-28 12:44:00

And think that basically last 10 days there was ever Street Fighter 4 in my ps3
Yesterday after 10 days,i've put it lbp and i finished it in a couple of hours...

Probably is all a mental thing, this level was all yet in my mind, the only doubt was if the thermometer was enough... so was just a question to do it

I've the feeling that this is going to take lower :star: than previous levels, but honestly i don't care

It was more a visual question for me,and some things are exactly as i want them... personally this is my fav after Chapter 1!

Little spoiler: in this level there is the biggest creature of Vagrant Hero Universe(past, present and future),something that make seem small the swamp dino:hero:

I was really fortunate last night... I was about to go to bed, and I saw the latest in the series pop up suddenly with 0 plays. I immediately jumped in and started playing - GREAT level! I loved the visuals, the platforming, the story, and the really cool big creature!

I DO have a suggestion - if not for this one, then maybe the next one. There were a number of areas where the platforming felt pretty fiddly because of plane shifting. It is certainly not a terrible thing, and didn't prevent my enjoyment of the game. But maybe find any more confined platforming areas where if you jump you plane shift and try to make the platforming smooth in those areas. Or maybe in the next one, think about this as you go through.

But, that certainly didn't lower my score. I put 5 stars and a heart on it. Great series!

Got around to playing it, and I have to say that I love this level. I am a huge fan of your work on this series, and I sincerely hope that works begins on the next installment soon as I cannot wait to see where it goes.

I'm of the strong opinion that good levels are made great levels by character design, and there was some great character work here. The "Cro-Magnon-esque" fellows were really quite marvelous.

This being said, I thought I should point out one thing. *SPOILER ALERT* When I got to the end of the level, it appeared to be set up so that the cat would chase me. It didn't. I got to the end of the small path, with the cat far behind now, an axe fell, and I was congratulated for "having caught it".

I have only just discovered this series when Chapter 5 was spotlighted but having played that and now Chapter 6, I am just amazed at the quality of the level design. Chapter 6 is just stunning. Great atmosphere - the fire, lighting and rocks all evoked a volcano so perfectly that you could practically feel the stifling heat, lol!

The character design was superb (whoever would have thought to use noses to make the legs of those tortoise-like creatures!). The dragon boss too was magnificent.

The gameplay was challenging in parts but it all goes a lot smoother on a second play when you've got the hang of what you're doing a little better. (EDIT: Oh, and he's invented a new sport - not snowboarding but lavaboarding. How cool is that!)

Lovely touches of humour too.

What more can I say, :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart!

PS I can't believe it only has around 25 plays so far!
