Hi Mercury

Just had a go on your level. I like the idea behind it - the quest for the ruby, and the jungle setting. I also liked the music that you chose, and your use of the grass stickers.

It might just be me, but I wasn't so sure about the use of the temple stone. I'm not a massive fan of it anyway, but I think it was a little overpowering, and detracted from some of the detail you had put in.

I also felt that you used too many different themed stickers and decorations. Perhaps as it's set in the Amazon, you could stick to the Aztec stickers and decorations, rather than mixing in egyptian, roman, african and greek ones. This may give the level a more uniform feel and help set the scene - just a thought anyway!

Also, I accidentally jumped out of the maze before it started spinning, and so had to die in order to be able to continue with the level. Perhaps the door that closes you in needs to be adjusted so it's instant, and people can't jump out.

I also felt that the level seemed quite empty in places, and perhaps you could create some sort of creature that lives in the temple to challenge players a little more.

I would also make the magic mouths invisible, or at least put them on a mask or character as they seemed a bit random.

I think the level has lots of potential, and with a few tweaks will be something to be proud of!

Hey Mercury,

Let me start by saying that this level is great - especially considering it only took you "days." I usually spend at least a month on a level. Unfortunately I was unable to finish your level on my first play through. After the spinning puzzle thing, I went up the steps, jumped across to the other side to pull the lever, the pillars rose up, and I accidentally fell and died. Since I died, I was sent back to the other side. Once on the other side with the pillars raised, it's impossible to complete the level. You definitely want to fix this - and I've been thinking of a couple ways:

Easy fix: just add another check point on the left side
Harder fix: move the raised pillars to the background instead of the foreground

Other fixes that need to be made are the visible wobble bolts in the beginning. I also agree with the person above me - you should make the mouths invisible (and I wouldn't give them a sound either). Also, I loved the music towards the later half of the level, but the music in the first half didn't seem to fit the overall level "feel."

So far I give you a solid 3 stars - but with the fixes definitely 4 stars. You'd get 5 stars if you made these fixes and made the level more detailed. When I create I always think, "What can the player see on their screen?" I make every camera angle with a purpose, and I try to make things look "natural" (for example, the pillars that raise, you ought to have some flat material in the foreground to cover up the pistons).

I hope my comments helped - don't feel bad because I think you're on to a very cool level if you just take some of these suggestions.

yeah its a really useful pack. my level was originally going to be about finding animals that have escaped from a zoo, with the jungle being home to one of them, then i saw the history pack and thought id make a level like this. water would have been a good part for the level (like on sonic the hedgehog) but thats ages away2009-08-26 19:47:00

Hey Mercury - So I gave it another shot!

I liked that you made some effort into fixing the original glitches. Because of this, my experience was a solid play through - no major, or even minor glitches. I liked the extra level content that you added. The rolling fire balls have been done before, but I like the ramps that you added.

Suggestions:
- Again, in the beginning after you fall from the bridge there are some wobble bolts visible. I assume that you don't want them to be seen because they are invisible in the rest of the level
- Also, I noticed a motor bolt or two visible, but maybe you wanted that?
- I wouldn't swear in the text at the locked door .. but that's totally up to you - I just wouldn't risk it because MM doesn't allow it
- I forgot to mention this last time .. The ruby sponge is a cool idea and kind of funny, but it gets in the way of the score board - I like to know when I got first place or not lol

Overall:
4:star::star::star::star: (you upgraded!)
and a heart for the level

It still needs some more polish for me to give 5 :star:'s, but you're on your way! Nice work!

Oh, wow, I didn't realise this level had been around so long. Ah well, it's a pretty solid platformer. I played the Time Trial version, I don't know if this is newer

It has a very classic feel to it, and I like the theme. The only thing that I didn't quite like, was the platform at the start above the jaws, it didn't feel as intuitive as the rest of the level (unless I was doing something wrong there?!)
