http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b265/galacemiguel/LittleBigPlanet/TheQualifier01.jpgThere are a ton of Wipeout levels in LittleBigPlanet. So why make another one, you ask? Well, because I felt that the Wipeout levels currently in the game aren't accurate enough.

I spent quite some time making these levels look like their real life counterpart. To do this, I had to watch actual episodes of Wipeout to make everything look right.

Sack cannonballs! Sack pinballs! Crashes, smashes and mud splashes! Thrill-seekers will compete in the world's largest extreme obstacle course designed to provide the most spills, face plants and wipeouts ever seen on LittleBigPlanet, in Wipeout, a painfully funny new level.

I have to say - I love the show

Actually, I just said that other Wipeout levels weren't accurate and that I spent some time making my levels look like their real-life counter part.

I am pretty much in love with Wipeout, and I totally agree that there aren't really any good Wipeout levels so far! I can't wait to play your Wipeout levels. They look like a pretty good representation of the Wipeout I know and love (:

Edit: I liked the Qualifier the best our of all of them. I especially loved the sign at the beginning! It looks just like the one on the show!!

As I said earlier, I am a huge fan of the Total Wipeout show
And I was impressed at how accurate your levels were to the show.
Qualifier:
Everything's here - even the shout out section at the top of the ramp. I really liked the way the platforms in water moved about as you ran across them, nice touch. The sucker punch wall was pretty good, but I iddn't like the way you died and had to start again. Though I can't really see a way aroung that. Maybe if the checkpoint mfalls into the mud below once you pass it, so iff you die you end up in the mud and not having to start again.
The big balls were my favourite part of this level. Love them in the game show and the camera was perfect for this level. A pretty easy ending, but still great fun as a level.

:star::star::star::star::star: and a heart mainly for the fun value - but also for realism.

The Sweeper
Never going to be the most fun of the levels because there's not much to do. Works well as a survival challenge but is just too similar in so many ways to Tie skipping. Nicely decorated though and as usual - true to the show.

:star::star::star:

Dizzy Dummies
I wasn't sure if this was going to work, but the way you've used the camera to make you feel dizzy is very good. Might have been better if the camera slowed down a little as you got nearer to the end, because of the grogginess wearing off. Overall though it was a challenge to complete and was well made too. Not too challeging, but enough difficulty in there.

:star::star::star::star:

Wipeout Zone
Easily my favourite of the levels, and very accurate. A lot of stuff seemed difficult to recreate, but I think you've done a very good job of it. It has the most variety and ways to beat it as well which really added to the replay value. The trampolines at the end were a little difficult and I think unlimted lives would have been useful - but still very fun.

:star::star::star::star::star: and a heart.

This is a series totally worth checking out if your a fan of the show, but if you're not you may wanna take a star off each of my ratings to get what you'll probably find it

Nowadays it's hard to tell when someone mentions Wipeout as a brand, are they talking about the Show or the Futuristic Racing Game.
Just to say really, no feedback to bring up just yet.

I first have to say that I've never seen the show called Wipeout so i can't judge how accurate it is or how close to the show it is.

From a person that's never seen the show the visuals look pretty much the same as all the other wipeout levels out there, but I can see that your level has more detail (stickers, the water?)
I also liked how the floor was made out of glass. There was acturally a disadvantage to the player if they dropped down.
THe arrow like stuff on the floor was also well done.
The mini games (to me) looked pretty original and was fun to play. I loved the blocks ontop of the water.
The only thing i thought was lacking was the element of danger? It just dosn't seem to spice out things for me if theres no fear of dying.

Overall i thought it was good, i gave all your levels a 4 :star: except for the Sweeper one. I personally don't like tie skipping, so yeah....

Fake water or poisonous gas?

Fake Fake water. It looks like Fake water with poisonous gas below it, but it's acturally glass on the bottom

Ok, Here's some feedback on it.

Each and every one of the levels were captured the best I think they could have been captured, each and every one of them have Competetive Capabilities, which is a good thing definetly.
My Only Critiques would be...

Make the Photobooth in the Beginning of the First Level Optional, it sort of gets in the way if I want to Gun the level, and just gives me something I have to delete later.
Do something about that dang Sucker Punch wall, that's probably the least realistic and most hardest.
The Dangerous Gas to the Left and Rights of the Barrel "Machine" always get me, either due to the camera angle or due to their Size.

If you really wanna keep your word in F4F, go ahead and play The Oggler's Lair, it goes in a Series, so play the Collector's Dilemma first to get the Key.
I don't think the Collector's Dilemma should be part of the feedback because it's sort of dodgy.

I loved this show when it came out, so hearing that a good quality series was based on it, I had to give it a try.

I only played through the first two before I had to leave, but so far I'm really impressed with it. It's seriously a huge relief to play a wipeout level that wasn't complete bull ****. I gave the first level 5 stars and the second 4.

On the big balls challenge, shouldn't the balls be solid red?

Other than that, this is very solid, and I'll probably play the others sometime today.

If you're still doing F4F, I just released my Hoola Man Jenkins' Cabin Trilogy and I'd love some feedback on it.

Thanks!:arg:

Okey dokey,

The first level is quite good. The punching things at the end were a bit bazzare, but they work.

The second level is kind of boring which is to be expected, but on top of that it is almost a complete rip of the tie skipping challenge by Mm... right down to the music.

The third level is a good idea but I think the dizzy effect would be btter served by moving the camer in a circular motion rather than up and down. Still though, a neat idea.

The fourth level is the best, with good challenges and some solid platforming. MY only gripe with this level lies in the barrell jumpiny part. I would always fall into the gas below when trying to get onto that platform in the foremost layer... perhaps extend it away from the emitter zone just a touch more so that it is easier to jump onto.

So yeah, these are good levels, but the could all just a little bit of work to polish them up just a bit. Good work and I really enjoyed the first and last levels.

As far as the F4F goes, if you would not mind playing "The Adventures of the Prince: Chapter 1 The Attack, I would appreciate it. My level thread can be found by clicking on my sig.

Just wanted to make sure this one didn't dissapear - because it's a really great set of levels. Not just that, but I spent a good couple of hours playing just these levels with my friend, seeing who could do it the fastest.
Great fun, but he especially like the first and fourth ones (although he couldn't beat me at them )

All of these levels are fun and true to the show, but My only complaint was the length. Also the photobooth is irritating if someone wants to replay the level. All in all 4 stars.2009-08-28 16:35:00

Yeah, a few others have been complaining about the photobooth. I'm trying to figure out a way to make it optional without using a grab switch. I have an idea though, how about have Sackboy stand directly under the Shout-Out Section for at least 3 seconds then the camera angle will activate. What do you guys think?

I think that sounds pretty good Galace - make it 5 seconds to be sure though.

Played it again with the updates and I still love it all. The last one's must improved by the platforms and a few more visual changes.

Sucker punch is much improved too, loved the new mechanic.

Ok, I'll make it five seconds.

Thanks a lot, but give yourself credit you came up with the mechanic.

By the way, how do you like the new Dizzy Dummies?

I like the fact it slows down later on, and it's definately been made harder near the beginning when it's turning very fast.
Works very well though

I've only watched the show once or twice, but I enjoyed your levels. They were simple, but pretty fun. I loved the idea of the dizzy effect in the 3rd one and I think it was smart to keep that level short, because although I loved the effect, it'd be hard to go through a long level like that.

Anyway, I can't really give much feedback in regard to how the levels mirror the obstacles in the show, but I will say that I had fun playing them.

Okay, fair warning; This ain't gonna be pretty.
As I played these levels, I rated them according to their status quo (except Tie skipping. It got 1 star & no tag)
Also, please understand That these observations are made in the spirit of helping you to improve these levels.

-The Qualifier:
-The logo is exceptionally well done.
- The blocks in the water didn't act like tethered blocks in water. They didn't look soft like the pads in the show. maybe round the corners a little and ad some varience to all the straight lines so they look more like the wipe out blocks.
- The big balls look nice with the mud splatter effect, but were WAY too stable. No motivator?

- The sweeper:
Cheap imitation of tie skipping.
On the show, they often have the arm move up & down so the competitors have to choose weather to duck or jump. If you did that, and changed the music, at least it wouldn't be a total copy.

- the dizzy dummies:
- Interesting camera sway. On the show, the competitors eventually regain their equilibrium. Maybe gradually slow the sway to zero as time progresses.
- this level is so incredibly short. Only two types of obstacles, and they aren't all that dissimilar.

- The wipeout zone.
-The slide at the beginning was okay. it'd be nice if you could elevate it, put a curve in the middle, and put more of a ramp at the end like in the show. I realize that would mean extending the water, and moving the rest of the level over, but I think it would be worth it.

- The slight incline with the red barrels. I understand that it represents the water-climb on the show. If you ever get a chance to see the show, you'll notice that this challenge is not a flat plane at all it would be nice to see a little of that here. Why the poisonous gas at the top? why not just put a barrier past where the barrels are emitted?

- The climbing wall; I liked this part, I think it is a viable analogue to the one on the show.

- The spinning wheel with the red grabs Is nearly impossible to fail if you have a right index finger. Perhaps, if you made the outside pylons un-grababble. IDK.

- The spring boards: The camera angles are super-awkward.

- Game play in general: This is going to sound odd coming from me...WAAAAy too easy. Most people who have seen the show have noticed that the competitors rarely make any of the obstacles their first try.
most of the challenges were pretty standard LBP fare.

Okay, so.
There are so many wipe-out levels already made. To have someone come back, it really has to be a superb level, and not just compared to other Wipe Out spin-offs.
The wipe out logo is absolutely astonishingly well done. The girders and rail on the first part were also well done. The rest of the objects seemed almost like raw grid squares...

Okay well, That should give you a good start, if you decide to raise the quality of these levels.

- hope this helps.

I have to say I am quite offended by your comments becuase most of what you said had very little basis.

...As I played these levels, I rated them according to their status quo (except Tie skipping. It got 1 star & no tag)
Also, please understand That these observations are made in the spirit of helping you to improve these levels...

I very much understand that The Sweeper is VERY similar to Tie Skipping, but one star? How is telling me that you rated it one star supposed to help me improve it? Please, be reasonable.

The Big Balls: No motivator?

The Sweeper: On the show, they often have the arm move up & down so the competitors have to choose weather to duck or jump.

Note: All obstacles were taken from Episode 1, Season 1.

There is no motivator on the first episode of Wipeout. Nor does the arm move up or down on said episode.

The Dizzy Dummies: This level is so incredibly short. Only two types of obstacles, and they aren't all that dissimilar.

Please do not tell me that my level is short, complain to Wipeout. My purpose was to recreate it as perfectly as I could, not to add things here and there.

The Wipeout Zone: Put more of a ramp at the end like in the show.

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b265/galacemiguel/WipeoutRamp.jpg

The Barrel Run: Why the poisonous gas at the top? Why not just put a barrier past where the barrels are emitted?

If I do that the barrels wouldn't be able to go down the ramp.

...if you decide to raise the quality of these levels...

That is a rude thing to say.

Update:

- Added Real Water

I haven't uploaded new pictures of the new version with water to this thread yet, but I will if my laziness doesn't claim me. Also, I did a little experiment with this. I updated the levels with water and didn't add: "...with Real Water" at the end of the title. Then, after 30 minutes, nothing, not a play. So, I decided to put the above after the title then, bam! It now has 3000+ plays when it took it's entire lifespan to get 600!
