Wobble bolts stopped working

Archive: 7 posts

Just been working a bit on a level, and when I entered play mode to test it I noticed that a load of objects I made a few weeks ago which use wobble bolts weren't moving.

Looking create mode, these wobble bolts were set to a time of 0.3 seconds. However, they start working again if I change it to at least 0.4. I remember when I made the objects in the first place 0.3 was the lowest I could set it to, because 0.1 and 0.2 didn't work either. But now for some reason anything less than 0.3 doesn't work.

Anyone got any ideas what's going on?

I don't know.
But I can share my experience.
I've a section with 15 wheels that have to move in sync.
Every time I publish the level, everything goes out of sync the 90% of times.
Then, when I load the level on my moon, a good 50% of times it gets out of sync.
It's really annoying since that section becomes completely unplayable and you can't reach the next section of the level.

Another thing that happened to me today
I put decorations on a wall, then I made another section of the level, not connected to the one with stickers, and the stickers disappeared, resetting even the thermo to the point where there were no stickers/decorations.

This game sometimes is really really sick.

That sounds a lot like the 160 hour bug. Basically after a certain amount of time in unpaused Create Mode, some pistons and bolts will stop working or go wonky. Even deleting and placing new ones doesn't work. Sadly, the only known solution is to copy the level onto a new spot on your moon piece by piece.2009-08-22 19:36:00

Indeed. There isn't really a solution unless you have a previously saved version backed up somewhere. This is why it's a good rule of thumb to always build in pause mode.

I've been hearing a lot of talk about this bug lately... How long are you guys spending in create mode!?

I've encountered this bug with every level I've ever made, but more recently to a far greater extent, as it gets worse as time goes on. Eventually your bolts and pistons will be restricted to nothing faster than 0.5 and a little time after that, every piston/bolt in your level will start juddering no matter what speed you have them on.

The only way around it is to either capture your level as an object and paste it into a brand new level spot on your moon, or send your save file to MM.

Some info in this (http://forums.littlebigworkshop.com/lbp/board/message?board.id=creationgen&thread.id=15215&view=by_date_ascending&page=1) thread.

Sucks balls. Sorry I don't have better news.

Thanks for the replies.

I though it might be the 160 hour thing. I started the level months ago, and because I'm extremely slow at creating things, I often just leave my level playing whilst I'm thinking what to do next. I only heard about the bug last week, so since then I've been building only in pause mode, but I've had to keep un-pausing to test stuff but I guess its still too late.

I've built my level in sections so I could save it as objects and transfer it into a new one, but I've also got it exactly in position with the background, and it'll take a lot of time getitng everything back right. I might be better sending it off to MM to see if they can fix it.

Yup... it can also cause juddery as well as non working pistons.

More info here as well... and also links to the thread Kiminski shared.

The only way I know to avoid the issue is leave that level in pause most of the time as possible. Especially insuring it is in pause when you save for the next trip in. This way you don't eat up your time clock. Also be mindful that if you start from a copy of another level for example, that does not reset the clock. Always start with a new blank level.

I build everything and test in another workshop level and pull things in as objects to avoid the play button as much as possible.

Good luck!!
