See you guys on the other side. Hopefully the power won't go out. If it does I hope it will only be out for a while.2008-09-12 12:09:00

Have you went up North, or you staying in Houston?

I'm good. 90% of Houston lost power but I lucked out. My power blinked out about 20 times. One of those times it was out for an hour but all and all my apartment complex made it pretty untouched. We had a fire alarm go off but it was only a malfunction. They couldn't shut it off for 6 hours though which drove me nuts.

I took a drive around after the hurricane passed. We have trees down all over the place, brick walls knocked down, street lights hanging or completely missing, and utility poles leaning. Not too much flooding but we have zero water pressure.

Pretty wild. Galveston, which is about an hour drive from from me and maybe a little further from drfeelgood8849, was hit the hardest. They had a mandatory evacuation so hopefully most people left. If not, there will be a pretty high fatality rate. I hope they got out.

Yeah man. I heard it just rolled on up northeast and wrecked a lot of cities. Power outages out there too.

It's been hard to get info out of Galveston or even from family members who have evacuated to other cities. The government isn't allowing news helicopters to fly over the island or even to drive around. Complete media blackout. A few news stations have gotten satellite images and it doesn't look pretty.

FEMA dropped the ball again. A lot of residents are ****** at their response time. A local furniture selling ninja master [Matress Mac from Gallery Furniture] got tired of waiting for the Govt to do anything and ordered his trucks to bring down loads of water and food for the people while FEMA was still trying to figure out where Texas was on the map.
