hey
now with the relese of water coming out i had some ideas floating around and i wonder if there appropriat for lbp

idea1: jaws. im thinkin like you start the lvl and jaws comes up and eats you hole just like on the cover of the movies.

idea2:sunamie. just a coastline city(destructible) and a huge wave comes and wipes out the city(the reson i think this might be offensiv is because of hurrican catreana)

wat do you guys thing

I see nothing wrong with a tsunami themed level, as long as you don't refer to any in history that have actually occured causing death and destruction. Tsunami's are a naturally occuring natural disaster no different than earhthquakes or tornado's, and certainly make for good gaming story lines. It's not like your making a 9/11 level like that moron who attempted that and offended many people in the process.

As far as Jaws goes, you'd better get that one done quick... there will likely be several of these showing up in the first 2 to 3 hours after the pack releases.

As rustbukkit says, tsunami in itself isn't an offensive thing. There are acceptable LBP levels about earthquakes and wars even. Best bet would be to have sackboy escaping the tsunami, or doing something in the context of a tsunami, and just gloss over the millions of deaths that are implied by the wiping out of a city.2009-08-21 14:57:00

I don't see anything wrong with a tsunami-themed level. As long as you don't refer to any real tsunami history or make fun of anything tsunami related, it should be fine.

As for the Jaws level, as already stated, as soon as the water DLC comes, there'll probably be a lot of them coming, so it might not be the best idea, unless you make it quickly.

-faints from incredible amount of spelling mistakes-

Sorry, I'm a grammar nut.

Anyway, this would be cool but will waves be possible?

He has a point! How could you make a tsunami level (awesome idea, btw) without some kind of wave tool? Rain tool? Cloud tool???? (random idea, sorry ) err... We'll find out soon enough!

He could make an intro with a cut scene. Have it so there is a wide/long shot of the city very small and make a giant wave out of glass on a thin layer in front of the city scape. Then attach the wave to a piston off screen and have that wave enter screen left smashing into the city. As the wave overtakes the city he could either have the city come apart or fade to black with the GLT.

Next he could fade back in on our sackboy survivor/hero and hook a switch up to the water tool to quickly decrease the level of water so it appears the tsunami has just passed over and the water level is lowering back down to where he wants it, and where the player begins to make his way through the level.

That's what I'd do anyways.

sounds cool, but we may not be able to control waves in the water pack, so a sunamie
might get called a failamie (get it? fail-amie! as in sunamie!)
