Pendulum?

Archive: 12 posts

How would one go about making a pendulum? Like one in a Grandfather clock? I need it to have one fixed point that it swings from, mechanically, so that you have to time your jump to grab the other end, which would have a small sponge. Help please?2009-08-21 08:22:00

Sorry, forgot to mention, I DO NOT want to do it that way...
I might have to, though.

hmm, maybe directional winches. let me tinker around a bit, i will get back to you, is there any specific way you want it to work?
btw, thank you for pointing out that i forgot to put my elevator back down to the first floor, if you want to try that again

Attach the pendulum to something with a bolt, then loosen that bolt so the pendulum can swing freely back and forth, then attach a non stiff piston to the end of the pendulum and use that to push it back and forth. This should work in theory, but i dunno if it will actually work, i don't have the time to test it right now.

If you need any help making it, i'll gladly make it for you later. Aslong as you can provide me with the pendulum

I think everything physical in the game eventually settles down...

One way I could think of is above the fulcrum point on the pendulum you could have flipper pistons whacking it to different directions when it gets to a certain point with mag key switches.

Considering the hassle and thermo space, you still might be better off with a semi-loose wobble bolt anyway.

I have a theory on how to make them realisticly, but I'm too lazy at the moment to write it. D:2009-08-22 00:51:00
