my created object are glitching

Archive: 15 posts

while building my new level Lab assistant 2 i cam across i problem where some of my created objects would not work.
what would happen is when i try to select an object from my popit a red exclamation mark will appear and it will not load. No error message at all. I also noticed that these same objects i had already placed in my level (in this case a bunsen burner and beaker that opens and has bubbles come out) would not emit anything even though there logic switches where still working. This also affected prize bubbles.
Does anyone know why this has happened and how to avoid it cause i had to remake the objects, which has set me back and it seems this wasn't a one off glitch cause now its affecting one of my pre made logic switches (timer switch)?

I've had this problem too. Not exactly sure what causes it. It's best to make sure you always have one copy of any captured objects in a level somewhere so you don't have to remake it if this happens.

And I've had emitters stop working in my current level too, which is weird.

LBP data corruption problems are unfortunately not uncommon. Any serious creator will eventually run into either the problem you've had, or the dreaded "Failed to load level" error. Once either of those happens, the only choices are to send your save file to MM in the hope that they can fix it, or to start over.

You should check out this thread on backing up your data :

It's better to take extra precautions from now on than to risk losing your hard work again.

I recently got that god awful 160 hour bug and had to capture my level and move it to a new spot on my moon to fix it. Unfortunately, when I went to paste it in the new level I got the same red exclamation error, but I figured it was due to it being too complex and managed to sort it by capturing in three separate parts.

Were your objects particularly complicated? I'd never seen it prior to this.

All of my created items will eventually fail to work if I leave 'em sitting around too long... worst of all IMHO is the piston and wiggly bolt!

I recently, (last night), got the fail to load level message which would have meant I lost my level. For a change I didn't panic... you know how it will go to the 8 backed-up balloons rubbing it in your face that you just lost everything you were working on...?well I just hit rewind 9 times till the dpad icon was on the bottom of the screen --you only have a second before the messages start again, I think the correct direction was down and it put me back in my level before I tried to leave/load

This was when the servers were down last night and it saved my butt!

I recommend this...

Always switch to play mode before ending your creating session. If you repeatedly get the "failed to load" message, return to the pod and copy your most recent version of the level from the main pages back to your moon. If you can switch to play mode without problems then you have a clean save which you should publish when you return to your pod. Even if your level is only half way to being completed, make sure that you publish it (locked if necessary) as soon as you've checked that the current loading state is stable! Keeping an up to date version of your level published on the main pages is undoubtedly your best defence against the tragic loss of many weeks of hard work.

funny enough i tested a more complicated object i had previously captured from the level and it worked fine the glitched objects where very small and simple.

BTW i did get a failed to load thing happen when i tryed to access my level before the objects glitched but that was the only failed to load message i got.

Use the the right stick to change the locked/copyable options. Left stick bring you to the next page. This is so you don't accidentally change these...2009-08-22 22:24:00

Oh, yeah, I forgot about the update for that. I haven't thought about locking/ making things copyable since that update but it used to be completely annoying.
