To become a Platinum release it was required that a game have over 400,000 total worldwide sales after generally one year on the market[1] (PAL region sales in particular; games that sell over 400,000 units in another region alone, such as Japan or the U.S., do not necessarily qualify for a Platinum title). Of course if a game sells sufficiently well they will stay in the normal range so the price can be milked such as games with several million sales like cod 4, cod waw & gta 4 that are still not in the platinum range.

Obviously that case is fake, so as that article. It only turns into Platinum if MM agreed to. Sony doesn't just do things just like that, they need permission. Anyways it looks fake.

Actually, it does look fake. Looking at my platinum games, the original box art has rounded corners. EDIT: Of course, it could be a placeholder, in which case we don't know if it's fake or not.

I couldn't care about boxart really, the game is the same anyway (just platinums cost a bit less). Still though, platinum boxes are ugly.

I see no announcement in PSBlog. Fake. Retailers often leak stuff before sony make an announcement the ps3 slim and psp go were both confirmed by retailers before the official announcements. Also resistance 2 motorstorm 2 and killzone 2 are going platinum with listings on both amazon and shop to. LBP only has a shop to listing so far.

I hate platinum cases. It's like they try and punish you for getting a cheap game by giving the worst box-art ever.

Urgh, why do they keep ruining all of the best games?! Do they seriously think an ugly box like that is going to convince anyone to buy it? I had a rant about this a while back when i brought the platinum version of Uncharted xD If i ever need to buy another copy of LBP i'll definatly be looking for the original case.
