Puzzling help

Okay, i'm trying to make a decent level and i have found that my mind completely forgets anything i was thinking and my usually very creative side of my brain flicks off when i turn on the Playstation. So i made a puzzle (simplistic) using mag keys and dissolve. when you take the piece and put it in place it disolves a block that is basically an extended permenant AND switch. its 244 pieces and color coded. I cant finish it because it is taking forever to wire everything up and im more ADD than OCD. is there an easier way? can someone please save me from the naps i keep slipping into. | 2009-08-20 09:11:00 Author: thefrozenpenquin Posts: 479 |
you need a 244 input AND gate? Or dissolving a 12x12 grid after the AND gate has triggered? What are the sources of the input, how many inputs? Need more info | 2009-08-20 09:23:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
ok, sorry, its 4:30a here. i have the AND gates. the total amount of inputs is 244. its basicall a big empty square that has 244 mag switches in grid pattern and there are 244 puzzle pieces with mag keys on them. I made the pieces grabable and put a jetpack, so what you have to do is put the right piece in the right spot to dissolve one block. when you have the whole puzzle together it will open a door to get to the scoreboard. where i want help at is that there are 244 mag switches to hook up and im not sure how fail safe the dissolve idea is. i want to kno if there is an easier way to do this thats not so time consuming | 2009-08-20 09:34:00 Author: thefrozenpenquin Posts: 479 |
If I'm to be honest, this sounds like the most tedious puzzle ever... You can use alternate designs for AND gates, but at the end of the day you will need to wire up a lot of signals. As for the reliability of the dissolve. if it's stacked then it is going to bounce as pieces dissapear and almost certainly break some of them. I'd use 13x12 input AND gates using the design from: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=p=225330#post225330 for maximum thermofficiency (actually I reinvented that to be more thermo friendly but not by much - that's lower thermo that you will find anywhere else). Also, I advise sleep | 2009-08-20 09:45:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
im not sure if i can follow that, maybe tommorrow. i want the puzzle to be difficult but not so much a pain that no one finishes it. sleep sounds nice but i have to stay up because i have night shift coming up | 2009-08-20 09:59:00 Author: thefrozenpenquin Posts: 479 |
