Water is NOT in Creator Pack 2! Speculation, appearently.

Archive: 18 posts

Okay, in the post revealing WATER in LBP on PS Blog EU, (yes, they have one now, it's nice and shiny.) the 'man' stated:

Later in the year we?ll be back with more detail on this level kit and all the cool stuff that Media Molecule have planned for it. For now I?ll leave you to start thinking about the watery wonders you might create.

1. LEVEL KIT. Two words that answer what this new feature will be in.

2. LATER IN THE YEAR. What about now? I mean, the water looked finished... anyway,

I hope you found this helpful. It just makes us think: What is gonna be in Creator Pack 2? And this new, so called "level kit"? Find out "later in the year"... show us now. please.

Very nice, thanks for putting my speculation on what kind of DLC it would be in, but of course there are still unanswered questions. 2009-08-19 13:00:00

You might want to add that the word "proof" is used here in the loosest sense possible

1. Level kit is a new term as far as I can tell. Likely this is paraphrased and he means something ever so slightly different...

2. The GLT looked finished LONG before we got our hands on it.

Furthermore (yeah I'm still going), the blog which you have overanalysed is in a conversational tone and probably not scrutinised that closely at source. The video, which is an official marketing trailer, just says part of a new kit.

This is just idle speculation... there is no clear evidence for anything here, let alone proof. You may well be right, my guess is that you probably are, but don't claim you have proof. In capital letters.

True, I never really thought about that. I guess I just assumed that him working for Sony he would know what kind of pack it's called, so I assumed he means it does include a level/or levels.

If it's someone from Sony and not Mm writing the article then chances are they won't get the small details right.

Besides wasn't Creator Kit 1 classed as a level kit?

True, but Mm never officially announced it until a couple of weeks before it was released...so...yeah.

And the history pack was announced waaay in advance... so... yeah.

Like I said, it's all speculation... Nothing wrong with speculation, I just likes to call a spade a spade.

Under water level pack kit thing

Nice way of putting it.

I thought PS Blog was a serious blog, meh, I can wait.

I'm not as hyped about water as I was the Paintinator.

Sony really suck at dates lately.

We never get dates for cool LBP updates, we don't have a date for Gran Turismo 5 and The Last Guardian is nowhere to be seen at GDC in Cologne.

Seriously.

Creator Pack 1 was a Free Pack for LBP.

Obivously this Pack is not going to be Free, Sony can get ALOT of money off of this pack once it's released. So I don't think it would be accurate relating it to Creator Pack 1.

I think this pack is going to be more similar to the Metal Gear Solid Pack.
Since Water is a new element, I'm guessing they are going to include a level which explains how the water element works. Much like the MGSP's Vitrual Training Level. Heck! We might even get a underwater boss that MM made!
The quote "all the cool stuff that Media Molecule have planned for it" can mean alot of things though. It could mean that there are even more stuff that in the Pack that wasn't included in the video, or that the Pack is already finnished and MM is just going to explain how the Water works.

But then again, time will only tell. I just hope it would tell us sooner....

(Just a side note, I've realised that once MM releases a trailer of a Pack, Costume, thingy, it would be released 1 to 2 weeks prior.... so we might get this Water pack sooner than we think )

OMG underwater boss... now that's something I can really get my tentacle manipulation skills onto

A level pack is probably the most likely vehicle for this - "bigger than MGS", and I think that snowyjoe is right about the tutorial nature of it. It's going to have to lead us through swimming, swimming with scuba gear, object manipulation under and on top of water, water level manipulation as a gameplay device, vehicles, there are a lot of basics to cover.

With regards to the release date. Don't they normally provide a date with the trailer? Or am I imagining this. It just mamkes sense from marketing terms to drag this out for a month or two, the hype will last that long, this is the biggest thing to happen to LBP.

Agreed with rtm223.

You can leave the Pack for around that long and still keep it alive by releasing more trailers and information.
But if you leave a Hype too long then you'll start loosing your audiance.
Or you leave it too long and the Hype might be too large for developers to please their audiance.
Either way, announcing somthing and leaving it for too long *cough* Guild Wars 2*cough* can kill a game.... or in this case, an add-on.
