Possible Real Prize options?

Archive: 10 posts

I wasn't sure if I should post this here or under the Help board, so I figured here would be more appropriate. As some of you may know, I have been working on a project as mentioned in my sig, which I will explain all about in the Ideas board here soon. If people love the game and want to play it, then I plan on making it a major thing with tournaments and even prizes. But the prize thing is all in theory right now, and even if it wasn't I wouldn't go telling people (until the event of a prize) that they can earn prizes, simply because I want people to play the game because they love it, not because they want to win the prize.

So here is what I'm wondering. The ideas I had for possible prizes are (thinking in the far future only assuming the game is liked and catches on) is money (real money), or a major pack/kit release, or LBP Game of the Year edition, or other. That last option isn't possible simply because it will already be out by that time and those that planned on getting it might already have it, so it isn't as versatile a prize. So I am wondering is it possible to buy something online for someone if it's from the PSN Store? How could I buy that for them and they get it?

Here is the main problem though . . .
--The winner (possible runner-up) might live out of country, and with an international community I have to think wide scale, so the prize has to work for any winner regardless of their country, which may include mailing or having to provide something in their currency or their country's version, etc.

Any suggestions?

Sony announced Voucher cards will be hitting European shelves next month (US already have them), so I'm sure you could order those online for whichever country the winner resides in. 2009-08-19 08:51:00

Or if you have a credit card, you could possibly log onto the persons account and then add funds to their wallet, most people would probably think this is a scam thought.2009-08-19 09:13:00

To Comet Wolf . . .

I forgot to mention that I want to do it in a way where the player stays secure, so the account idea is a no no.

To Kiminski . . .

The voucher idea is a good one, I'll have to keep that in mind.

I think $20 PSN cards would be cool prizes. All you have to do is send them the number. Don't know if a card bought in the states would work worldwide though. I think anybody can log into the US store though so it should probably work if they do that.

How does one actually win a prize though? Do we compete to be number 1 on the scoreboard? If that's the case then I hope you can make a level that's cheat proof because it always seems like survival challenges/mini games have at least one person that figures out a way to cheat and get some ridiculously high score.

Believe me, my game will be cheat proof in all aspects even during play. As for earning prizes (if it comes to that), they are earned based on the winner of major tournaments, and possibly runner up too. Like if people liked it and actually played it, then I might hold qualifying tournaments, World Championships, etc. And the game I am working on is not a survival challenge or a mini-game. It's a full fledged game with multiple stages, plus I plan on releasing new stage packs for the game (simply meaning multiple new stages at once) which also means new themes. Well technically since it uses LBP to make, you could call it a minigame and survival does become a big part of it the higher the difficulty you're playing on out of the four difficulty levels and the shot type of the blocks. But I will be explaining everything in the Ideas forum when I get around to it.

Problem is LBP is region locked, and so are many other games on the PS3 (**** YOU SONYYYYYYYYYY)

So a European Player with a European Version of LBP was to buy a costume or addon-kit for LBP... he can't...
But they can buy anything else on the PSN... so I guess it's not all bad.... I just thought it might be demorolizing for some.

"Yay! I won Money! WHAT!? I can only buy a certain amount of things!? Booo!"

Paypal is a option for transfering real money. Which has alot of uses.

That's why they've released European PSN cards.

I was just refering to buying a certain country's PSN Card and giving it to everyone worldwide

Since the Euro is stronger than the American Dollar, buying 2 diffrent types of cards might acturally be costly....
