Re-publishing question

Archive: 15 posts

Does anyone know if you have two levels, identical except for one small detail and you just publish them alternatively on top of the other, does that do the job of refreshing your level in the 'New' and 'Cool'....?

Only asking because I'm right up against the 160 Bug on my newie and I want to avoid taking the risk of constantly going in and changing something small and re-publishing (even in pause), just incase the bug hits after 20 or so publishings. It seems like a safer alternative just to ease some of my paranoia........!

I don't see why it wouldn't work, but you really don't have to worry about the 160 hour bug if it's in pause mode.2009-08-18 15:26:00

What I'm curious about is how you know that you're right up against the 160. Is there some way to check/view the number of hours on it? I ask because I'd like to be able to check this on my current level.2009-08-18 15:49:00

Yeah, pretty sure it does.

I encountered the bug myself about a month ago actually, had to move the entire level to a new slot on my moon bit by bit. Total nightmare! I've since managed to bork my pistons up to 0.5 speed, so looks like I'll have to move it again soon.

Anyone know if making the level copyable and moving it to an alt PSN resets the timer?

I feel your pain Kiminski. Why they haven't yet sorted out some kind of solution to a level-breaking issue beggars belief.

The copyable idea would be a godsend if it works.

There's no way to check. I NEVER thought I'd spend that much time on a level and to be honest, I would leave it running while i was making a cuppa, on the phone, etc.

I can't stress enough to y'all. Create as much as you can in pause mode.

You're absolutely right. Didn't work.

I'm also astonished this hasn't been fixed yet. I'm guessing it's because the pressure's off, since I doubt many creators rack up that many hours. Mind you, my pistons seem to stop running at 0.1 after just a few days..

Actually, it would be a good idea to check this theory. You could have two levels on your moon, one with a sticker placed somewhere, and one without the sticker. In principle, you could just alternate publishing the two levels which may count as a refresh and save you opening the level (which at full thermo or 160 hours is always a risk).

Its a shame I'm not actually on my PS3 at the moment, a very simple level would test this theory out.
