Secrets in your levels

Archive: 33 posts

This is a thread to tell us about any secrets in your levels that people might not know about.

I don't usually put anything secret in my levels, but there are two areas in my level "Sackyard" that people might not have found. I think they're both pretty obvious though.

One is at the entrance. You have to jump over this wall to your left and then you can put the colored tree sticker on a tree-shaped thing and then you get points. The other is at the end to your left after you get out of the mine cart that is there for no reason.

What about your levels?

I got one interesting one, My level is a unique fighting level with 2x gate to start (so a single player can't go in) and various gates after that only work if exactly 1 player is alive (my old one sucked and people could bypass it so I used Centurion24's) So i added an ace level prize (which is impossible to get trying to get it normally)

So how do you get it? Well at the entrance, I added the general from the wilderness telling you that this level is not for Single player (so he says it the moment you start the level), well there's an obvious sensor switch on him.

You have to get on him (using the nearby button for the x2 gate for extra jump height) which causes a piston to drop a sponge, which takes you to a 2nd scoreboard. But now the prize is useless since its my old 1 Player only gate which as I said, isn't very good since people can bypass it if they really tried

Rtm223 found an area on Mulberry Woods that was a great place for a secret, so I added one. I believe he's the only one to find it though.2009-08-16 13:26:00

Wow, my levels are loaded with secrets, because i can't save anything on my moon, i save everything in hidden areas on my levels, hidden stickers, hidden objects, hidden community objects, even hidden levels, yep, two levels in one, one you play, one you can't see, also, one of my levels has a hidden scoreboard, the point of the level is to find it, it is possible2009-08-16 14:43:00

in 'life on mars II', if you grabbed an alien, it would release score bubbles. then I changed it to have him disappear before you reach him so I moved the grab switch onto the floor. I realised that that may be too much so I just removed it 2 nights ago. it is now secret free.

there are a couple of secret areas in 'eddy mitter' that folk haven't found judging by the scoreboard.

I absolutely love what you did there. When you told me to go back and check again I was expecting you to have just blocked it off, but it's absolutely awesome - very funny little easter egg, I advise everyone to go looking in Mulberry woods for it.

At the moment there is a space in Subterranean Setbacks that is **** near impossible to get to unless you actually know how and are very skillful. I haven't put anything there yet because of thermo concerns but hopefully I can free up enough to get a big reward in there somehow.

There's a LBPC logo hidden in all of my levels. I have no clue if people found them though.

There's also alot of little secret places in all of my levels. I love doing that!

Oh... hahaha... I have a... sort of BIG secret. So big it unlocks a whole other random level. Its quite fun to play on, and is funny.

First off you place a Huge Eye sticker on the face above the spawn, then a bridge will allow you to get under the sun. Place a blue splatter sticker on the sun, and he will fall revealing the real sun, which you also place a blue splatter sticker on. Then it turns to night, and the door to your right opens. Viola! You have found the secret area!

Um....what?

How would anyone know about that otherwise? Do you think anyone has found that?

I included a (kind of) secret in Gothic Reverie 2, but it's not to hard to find. When you reach the supermarket, either pull the left hand dumpster away to reveal a hole in the fence, or jump over the fence and push the dumpster away to get out again. There's a handful of score bubbles behind there.

I've included three eastereggs though, two of them on Gothic Reverie and the other on Gothic Reverie 2. I won't say where they are, but I'll give a hint where you might look for them...

GR: The upstairs room of the mansion, where Rob Smith is sleeping in bed.
GR: After taking a ride upwards on the floating cat, but before entering the fairground.
GR2: Somewhere around the upper cliffs of the cannibal island section.

I've included a few minor secrets in prior levels, but my current project is the first where I've made a concerted effort toward this, including a secrets tally board at the end. I've had fun with it and am hoping that the tally board encourages repeated plays.

Personally I love finding these little gems in other's levels.

The "Bovine Antigravity Chamber" in Splat Invaders Saga (which a few months ago I made much easier to find), and E.T. in Splat Invaders II.

When Splat II was on cool pages I kept getting PSN messages from people telling me they had found E.T.

The Bovine Antigravity Chamber is one of my favorites! I was so proud of myself when I figured out how to access it!

I have one in The Heavy Metal Mullet Planet Part 1. All its hiding is a bunch of points bubbles and a prize bubble containing a guitar neck. I even put a sign pointing to it to make it less hidden, but people still ignore it.2009-08-16 20:18:00

I've been adding secrets to my newer levels. Most recently, in my newest project, I've laid out several secret switches. Some of their locations are obvious, while others aren't. It's a neat thing I'm trying out.

Maybe I should add a few random sticker switches with subtle hints. Hmm. Perhaps I could have Disco Mode in my level. xD

Wait, YOU made The Heavy Metal Mullet Planet?!

... Or was it the tribute? Either way, it rocked!

Literally.

EDIT: Oh, and also, in my Canyon Saga II level, I included a bit if you managed to fall through the bridge at the beginning. It had a wrestler in it and a ton of points bubbles. And a prize bubble.

I have a huge secret in The Unfair Platformer 2, if you go left at the very beginning there is a secret path that you have to go down and I don't think anyone has ever found it!!!

I actually do have a real secret area in The Unfair Platformer 2 though, it's after the scoreboard and you need more than 1 player. If you go behind the gas that's after the scoreboard there is a secret area, there's not much point in it, just wanted to see how many people would actually find it.

In "Escape From the Death Star' there's 5 grabbable air vents and 10 bubbles a-piece. There's also a hidden Jawa doing Death Star maintenance up on some scaffolding who gives you a friendly greeting and some a few bubbles for your trouble....2009-08-17 01:21:00

In my level 'Mortons Music Shop' there is a very thin fence at the start that most people jump over, but if you stand on the very tip of the fence and jump left onto one of the houses roofs, there is a cloud that will take you to a prize of a 'Happy Sun Cut-Out'. This could also unlock the 'collect all prizes' prize, my rendition of The Go! Team's 'Get It Together' used in the beginning of the level. 2009-08-17 04:52:00

You have no idea you just sparked the most ingenious way for me to get a gazillion hearts... Except I'd feel terrible for doing it >_>

I was flipping though the screen shots on Mulberry Woods and it looks like someone else finally found it! They proclaimed in the comments "I found Rtm223's secret tree!"

I have a secret where you have to find a jetpack in the level, then go to the corner of the level and you'll see a sticker switch. And the corner is like the full level.2009-08-17 19:25:00

I have these sackboy statues in my latest level, so, yah.
I also have, hidden in one corner in the fire, a very tiny picture involving tea bags and counting to potato. Yup.

I included some secrets in my last level Space Escape as well as some prizes. I was against it due to profiles always filling, but with the option of now turning off community prizes.. why not!

The first two are pretty easily found. 1 behind the pile of space debris of your ship and another at the end of the errr "pointless extra swingy" at the top of the first room.

The next two are after you descend into the hall with the hazard containers. Some of them move, one of which reveals a hidden hole in the back wall. .. as well as a hidden med kit at the left end of the hall.

The next 1 is somewhat easy to spot as there is a small ledge to the left showing a bubble emer lift sequence.

The next one isn't maybe as noticeable, but once on top after the emer lifts, there is a small ledge above the rotating doorway that requires an tippy toe edge ride up as well as a grabby to open the access hatch to the area.

The final one is pretty simple and at the ending to the left of the scoreboard and elevator.

I am going to try and incorporate more of these in the next episode!

Lol, good for them. As long as they're still calling it my secret tree, I'll permit them to play there
