Tomorrow I am going to Italy for two weeks. I will be staying near Cavallhino. This thread is firstly letting you know about my absence, but secondly to discuss Italy.

Anyone else been?

I've been to rimini many years ago, which was not bad.
I'm going again this year in 3 weeks (staying in Verazza, Siena, Rome, Venice and Lake Garda). Looking really forward to that.

have a nice trip!

I've been in Sorrento, Rome, Florence, Pisa, and Venice. Its one of the most beautiful countries in the world! (Bar Ireland of course!)

Are you talking about "Cavallino" down the south?

The south of Italy from what I know is very different to the North. It would be more rural and and "old school Italy". I've only went a little south of Napoli and it was amazing! Im sure you will love it! Enjoy...

I have been to Italy 3 times. Always in the North, with a trip down to Rome.

My mum worked in Rome when she was in her teens, so when we were in Italy we`d go visit her friend from back then. The cool thing was that the woman`d dad was the Chief of Police. This meant he was 1) loaded 2) a target for the mafia so everywhere we went was under armed guard. There was a funny moment when we stopped at traffic lights and a homeless dude tried to wash the windscreen. When the cars in front and back emptied and 6 or so sub-machine gun weilding cops ran at him he burst into tears!

Also, since I was 8 at the time, I got very easily bored when visiting them as they had no toys and the TV was in Italian so I went wandering around the guy`s house. My parents and their hosts were all sitting at the table enjoying a traditional Italian meal, when I ran into the room waving a loaded revolver! The Chief`s wife, who must`ve been in her 60's screamed something like, "OH BAMBINO!!" before diving over a couch for cover! She went mental at him later on for not locking it away while I was in the house.

It was a very eventful few days in Rome haha. Amazing though, even with out all the drama, Rome is my favourite city.

I've been in Rome for 30 years and a half, since I spent my first 6 months of life near L'Aquila, the city that suffered the earthquake some months ago.
I just left sometimes for other places...
