LBP @ Comic-con 2009gevurah22
http://daviddino.com/comicconlevel05.jpgThis is my attempt to recreate my experience at Comic-con this year after working at the Sony booth. Nothing special in regards to gameplay, but I thought it'd be a good testing ground to mess with bakscratch's layer glitch. I also added some stuff we actually made @ Comic-con with other users. Hope y'all enjoy this rather short, but interesting level!

Haha I couldn't wait for this as soon as I saw the YouTube video yesterday
I'll play this when I next go on, but just one thing - it should be waaaaay more packed with people, I think.
Other than that nitpick it looks like a funny little level! Can't wait to give it a go!

I would totally do so, but I'm extremely short on space believe it or not. I was also on a deadline to put this out, so I'll try to shove what else I can.

Thanks though man!

Thanks man! Just messing around with it really made some sparks fly in my head. I have some pretty cool ideas for my next stage with the glitch, assuming we can still mess with it later.2009-08-14 14:06:00

This was definately the best use of the layer glitch I've seen.... very cool effect, and the level was entertaining - loved how you stuck yourself in there!

One small thing - walking into the first room, the camera was a bit wonky. I wanted to see the background details but if I walked to the left or the right the view was obscured by material. Maybe adjust the camera in the first room.

Great stuff! Not QUITE as good as getting multiplayer Armorboy, but I'm sure that's coming soon .

Great funny stuff!
And great use of the glitch!
4 stars since it's an experiment and not a proper level.

Yeah, the camera is something that was hard to do considering I wanted to catch the sign on the top left in that frame... like how it really is in the convention center. It was all about getting the scope and size of the place.

I'll see if I can work my magic and fix it up a bit so it isn't to crazy during the transition.

But yeah, thanks about the usage of the glitch. You'll definitely see it more often... i.e. multiplayer Armorboy.

Haha, in due time. In due time.

Thanks dude. And I appreciate the rating. It really isn't a proper level in the sense that I usually make them.

The photo you just add, make the level even more incredible, since many of us haven't the slightest clue about how Comicon looks like.
The are comicons here in Italy, and one ise real big (Lucca Comic), but I think they're really far from Comicon or Jump Festas

Thanks man. It's really intense over at Comic-con, especially on the weekend that I went. It's pretty much impossible to walk around the entire floor without bumping into people the whole time.2009-08-15 01:16:00

Wow!! The perspective in that first room was absolutely incredible, the feeling of depth and immersiveness you created was unlike anything else I've seen in LBP!!

Thanks again y'all. Granted it's not a level that has any significant gameplay, it was fun to mess around with the glitch allowing perspectives not normally found in LBP in general. Now all of y'all start messing around with it!

I had to take a shot at the Twilight fans.

Hey, I'm impressed you got the mecha. Even I couldn't do it, tbh.

Anyway, do what you want with it. It's yours to mess with! Definitely glad you enjoyed the stage.

Also, the level has a little advertisement up here as well: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/08/14/sack-it-to-me-the-countdown-to-cologne-edition/

lol oh yes you must play this level.....you'll feel like you was there in the action lol

@donkey show

it seems ive bested the man who creates the most challenging levels lol....im sure you would have thought of it eventually...just thought id private message you about it...dont want my new armorboy to be a common prize...but only for those who have thought hard about it and been able to obtain it with skill and intelligence

LOL. Adding that character that helped you up was an afterthought I placed there for the heck of it. I didn't even realize it was going to be used for that.2009-08-17 07:04:00

lol well when you are as epic as me these things just pop up in the mind and i just act hehe....and a bountyful victory it was

also idk if you intended to make that armorboy prize look like ironman but i pretty much made a second edit to the armorboy with coloring and thats exactly who it looks like ....i also tried gundam but i dont think it looked that great since coloring it alone didnt look so well

This is a pretty great level-sort-of-thing and it's one of the best uses of the extra-layer glitch I've seen. The 3D rooms make the rooms seem immersive and the crowd of sacks and all the details give this level lots of personality. I also like it that you can do stuff to get prizes, which adds a bit of challenge in the level.

Sorry the feedback's really short, but this is a great level which captures the feeling of being at a gaming/comic expo. :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart!

indeed...and it feels more like a convention with prizes because come on ladies and gents...we all go to the conventions for the free stuff and prizes...lulz

also little off topic but anyone notice the new water glitch how it expands over the natural layering?? could it possibly be that Mm got the okay to make this glitch into an official download?

Thanks man. When I initially started the level without the glitch, I was pretty bummed I couldn't properly convey the scale of the convention center. Thank god I was able to use the glitch the way I wanted to. Glad you liked the challenges as well considering they're somewhat of an afterthought.

Played through this tonight and it's really cute. It is one of the best uses of the 3D glitch no question. I loved how you take the player through the wall then open up on this huge area. Nice effect. The items in the front plane made the level seem much more intimate than most 7 layer levels. It's an interesting way of interacting with a level when it's "in your face."

I'm sure there were tons of little details that people who were there would pick up on but alas, I was not fortunate enough to attend. I did like the level a lot though and would echo other posts here in that I'd love to see you take that 3D glitch to town on one of your regular levels.

Thanks for sharing this one though

Played this a few minutes ago and enjoyed it. I've never been to Comic Con, but it was cool to visit in LBP form! I absolutely loved the use of the background glitch as well. Very well done!2009-08-21 23:20:00

I'm really surprised at all the background glitch comments. Thanks guys! Believe it or not, this is level was the testing bed for all the background and foreground glitch stuff. I hadn't messed about it with until I started the level.2009-08-30 23:13:00

Hello,

Your level used the layer glitch to great effect and for the mos part the level was fun to walk through. I wish there was a bit more to do in the level, but it served its purpose; I got exactly what the title told me.

I'm not really sure what else there is to say about this level. I recommend that anyone who is looking for some ideas on how to manipulate the layer glitch to take a look at this level as it is very well done.

Good job.
