Sackboy's Adventure in Egyptverymalty
This was the first level I published. It's a scorpian dodging, camel riding, temple storming, pyramid raiding adventure! Would love to see what you guys think, as your feedback for my other 2 levels (Monster's Lair and Wonka's Chocolate Factory) has been really useful!

Here is a video of the level which I put up on youtube to try to entice players! Check it out for an idea of the level!

I played this level, it was cool, unfortunately the camel ride messed up for me, so I couldn't beat the level.2009-08-13 22:37:00

I think I tilted them or something, and when I came up to the fire you had to jump over, they ran into it. So you could make the fire higher, or turn it into gas.

that was fun! i left you a comment but basically i really like the level design, it has that littlebigplanet feel. I don't know if you've invested in the history pack, (i think it just came out today) but there's lots of good egypt stickers in there if you're thinking of making a sequel2009-08-14 06:13:00

Yes, am definitely going to invest in the history pack. I was thinking of doing a sequal actually, and perhaps tweaking the level a little just to make it look a little more egyptian.

Thanks for playing it, and glad you liked it!

I played this last night and enjoyed the environment that you created. I like that you've made good use of the MM objects to set up some fun gameplay but also that you've configured them to work in context of the level's setting.

Here are some things that I have noticed while playing.

Just after the bridge there are some fire pits that the player jumps over. These fire pits are only two layers thick and there is an empty front layer that the player can jump down into and get stuck.

I don't know why a player would do that but if they do then they have to suicide to get out.

I see that you have two sticker switches in the level but it seems that you have not selected which sticker is the one that activates them. As a result any sticker used on them will activate them.

(You can select which sticker activates them by pressing square on the switch and then going to the value of the sticker and selecting the one from the list that you want to be the one.)

I like the camel models that you have made, nice looking though if you jump on their heads they can tip over but once I saw this I didn't have any issues with it.

The priest of Amunet just below the giant snake was also very well done. I had a bit of trouble getting on to the wriggling snake above the priest and died a few times. The checkpoint that I respawn at is a little bit away from the snake part and it was a bit of time to run back up to this spot.

Otherwise the level is fun to play and fun to look through to find the secrets or out of the way spots. Good work.

Thanks for your comments Trindall!

I'm thinking of changing the material the camels are made of to ensure they don't tip over. Also, regarding the stickers, I did originally have them as sticker switches for particular stickers, but one of my online friends pointed out that those who are pretty new to the game might not be able to play the level properly, so I made them generic switches. Not sure what to do for the best really, as I don;t want to isolate the noobs! hehe. Also, I'll pop in a checkpoint in the temple to ensure people don't have too far to go, and do something about that extra layer by the fire pits!

Again, thanks for taking the time to give me some feedback! You're a :star:

OK, so, the camels have been altered so they won't tip over (hopefully), I've added a checkpoint before the burning snake, and made a few changes after purchasing the history pack - hope the level is better now - thanks for all your feedback everyone! 2009-08-15 22:58:00
