Whichever Way The Wind Blows- Blueladylyn1 My first Whichever Way the Wind Blows level. The BLUE version takes you into the sky for a short adventure through the clouds. However, all is not well when the cable car you take crashes into the jungle below. (Sorry its not new but i'm new to this site). *PAGE 3 OF HIGHEST RATED!!! Wow, good stuff, I really enjoyed the level (and I tried even the Red level). I think that they're amazing with really cool ideas and wonderful art direction. You're a creator that should be be kept in good consideration! 5 stars both levels and author heart | 2009-08-13 13:34:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
similar to mine but a billion times better Great original gameplay, great mechanics, great scenery and a fun and tricky boss. This goes for the Red one as well. 5 stars each. | 2009-08-14 01:11:00 Author: bonner123 Posts: 1487 |
Fantastic level(s). I love the design and art. Great gameplay as well, flowing really nicely. Nothing ever feels out of place, and the whole idea of your two levels are very satisfying - that you kinda go wherever your adventures take you in your balloon. The lightning was fantastic, and very effective. The way you implemented it made it frightening and surprising. Excellent use of the global lighting tool. Having previously seen and played your Myst level, it seems to me you were inspired by Myst a bit, which is also great. Maybe that was just my imagination though Another thing I really like about this level, similar to the statement I mentioned previously, is the way the series itself is presented. It seems to me like a perfect series to milk and come back to again and again, just like a franchise. The style is distinctive, yet both levels still are original and unique. The balloon entry and exit serves as a very recognizable trademark, another important aspect in a series. I feel like you have created something very special here, and I look forward to seeing this series grow. I'll be waiting for the next one in line! 5 stars and a heart for both, no need for F4F | 2009-08-14 05:39:00 Author: hilightnotes Posts: 1230 |
Wow, I'm so pleased with all this nice feedback! I'm glad you liked the level and will maybe think about another one in the future... Plus I just noticed that its on page 3 of highest rated! | 2009-08-14 15:54:00 Author: ladylyn1 Posts: 836 |
I played this level last night and it's great. The initial feeling is ever so slightly abstract and idyllic, and there is some decent platforming - enough of a challenge to keep you on your toes but still say relaxed enough to enjot the scenery. I got a little confused by the section where sack people couldn't go, but I tihnk I just wasn't paying attention. Great use of invisible winches, supplimented with visible string - often invisible connectors can make things confusing but you've pulled it off well here. There is some nice juxtoposition with the section when you crash. Personally I'd prefer it if you could have worked the crash naturally into the next scene of the level, rather than illing me, but it's a minor thing. The boss fight is really good - I like the fact you've given us a safe zone, but the paintenator is outside of cover and we have limited ammo - I don't think I've seen that done before and it puts a great spin on the plasma balls vs paintgun boss fight which normally feels very... meh. One issue with the boss is that you can respawn in the line of fire. This is horrible because it means you have no control over some of your deaths. The end balloon ride in my mind was too long and slow. I guess after fighting a boss I don't fell like a little sit down and rest lol, I want more or I want conclusions Great level, minor issues 5 stars, a heart and I'm off to play part two. | 2009-08-14 18:57:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Wow, I thought everything about that was epic. The clouds were just pieces of white material, but they looked really good, something I may use in a future level. The parts in the sky were awesome, I love things like that, floating islands and whatnot. The jungle was cool, looked really good, and the boss fight at the end was kinda cool, and surprisingly simple. I would write more, but it's late, and I have plenty of levels to play. Great Job! I'll make sure to check any other levels you have later. :star::star::star::star::star: | 2009-08-15 00:38:00 Author: CrumpetColey Posts: 41 |
I played this after you promoted it in the comments of my level and said it was "quite similar". Didn't see the similarities. | 2009-08-15 01:27:00 Author: Kipmonlin Posts: 251 |
I played this some time ago and was absolutely devastated by the awesomeness therein. There are a lot of people on this site taking chances, and going for a look or feel, and not caring about what "gets numbers". This is definitely one of those levels. As such, it's difficult to make suggestions about what I would change. This level is already complete. It might be possible to add a scene or two, with a similar design aesthetic, and make it..."more", somehow. But I also assume that's what the color designation is about...she's already got more ideas in the pike. If anyone is trolling for pretty, stop reading these words and go play this. | 2009-08-15 02:20:00 Author: coyote_blue Posts: 422 |

http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt210/swanbrown/utility/swanbullets.jpg The part where you push the (!) key into the machine using the lever switches: Seems a bit odd controlling an un connected paddle. I think it's okay to let the piston show here. http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt210/swanbrown/utility/swanbullets.jpg Nice use of music! Many authors seem to just "set-and-forget" http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt210/swanbrown/utility/swanbullets.jpg The boss and kids. Wow! Really fun! Especially, I like the limited ammo that forces you to dash out from cover and choose your shots, rather than just holding the trigger down. Meh, just your average 5 star awesome level. edit-- P.S. you may appriciate my "Riven" lock. inspired by the myst series. | 2009-08-24 20:15:00 Author: swanbrown Posts: 898 |
I played this one quite a while ago, and boy is it awesome. The balloon ride through the sky is very fun, and it's a unique idea on making a series based on this concept. That's one the things I liked the most about the RED level. It felt somewhat similar to the BLUE level, yet it felt extremely different from it at the same time. Now back to the BLUE level, the aestetics (I probably spelt that word TOTALLY wrong) looked great, and a very good choice of materials were used. They also have a unique feel that other levels don't have. The boss battle was great too, as you had to go out of cover to get the Paintinator, as already mentioned. Overall, :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart! A great level in a unique series! | 2009-08-24 21:12:00 Author: lk9988 Posts: 1077 |
This is one of my favorites. A guaranteed heart if you haven't played it yet. :star::star::star::star::star: | 2009-08-25 17:40:00 Author: Powershifter Posts: 668 |
Hello I just played it and it was fantastic ! I love this atmosphere, in the blue sky, with clouds, your level is really really beautiful and neat. I liked the part where you gotta push the block into the machine, even if I think you should have put a 3-way switch, it's a good idea, I like this kind of challenge, it's not just " I have to jump over fire by grabbing sponge ". The boss isn't really easy but not impossible, I enjoyed it too. Thanks for sharing your amazing, fantastic, ambitious and original levels with us ^^ I've hearted you and I'll play your other levels later :star: | 2009-08-27 13:43:00 Author: Oddmania Posts: 1305 |

I showed a friend of mine your Wind levels and he thought the Blue one was genius. Personally I like the Red one the best, but all of them are certainly amazing. Sorry to hear about the Red level .. your thumb will need to slow down from now on It seems to be doing great so far! ...*cough*...Looking forward to your Myst finale...*ahem*...*cough*... | 2009-09-08 18:38:00 Author: Powershifter Posts: 668 |

Hi Lady, I'm very excited to talk to you (well in a short of way lol). As a newly registered user who is equillay passionate about level creating I would like to start my comment by congratulating you with a fenomenal level. I will do my best to review levels as good as I can and try to expresss me in good English as I'm from Belgium. I've only played the blue part of your series but man was it good ! Although I'm more of a horror themed level fan, I could appreciate the interesting puzzles and level design in your levels. What made the most impression on me were the balloon parts. How did you blow them in a certain way? Pistons or some sort ? Any way, greatly done and a nice trademark move for the series. The paintgun part against the boss in the jungle was a nice surprise, didn't see that coming! Also the cable car ride impressed me. What I liked : great visual style smart puzzles good boss fight What I didn't love that much: I didn't really needed the jungle part as it was not completely in touch with the rest of the level scenes. all in all, great job Can't wait to try out the red part greetings | 2009-09-09 21:26:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
