Any game Soundtracks that has moved you or left you with a warm nostalgic feeling?

Archive: 47 posts

Hearing some old game soundtracks the other day, I couldn't help but have really good memories. Memories like waking up early in the morning, with a runny nose and my scruffy hair, dragging my cozy blanket with me and sneaking to the lounge in my PJs to play TV games. My parents would still be fast asleep, and not to wake them I would put the volume down and sit extremely close to just barely hear those awesome game sounds and my eyes wide open to take in all the pretty colours. I was so happy when I woke up extra early before everyone else. It was all so fascinating.

Soundtracks from Contra, Mario, Mappy, Sonic the Hedgehog, Pokemon, Earthworm Jim and Adventure Island All give me fuzzy happy happy feelings now

Other game soundtracks, from when I was a bit older also have the same effect! Like the Final Fantasy X Soundtrack ("To Zanarkand" or "1000 Words" Wow, such a moving musical score), Crash Bandicoot and Final Fantasy VIII.

It seems that many modern games these days don't have such memorable soundtracks anymore. Back in the days of MIDI and Polyphonic sounds, the tunes were legendary!
Little Big Planet is definitely one recent game which I think will never leave me, and perhaps one day give me nostalgia as an oldy (I'm only 21 now, sheeesh ). Uncharted 1 also has a really moving soundtrack, I'm hoping the new one will too. And of course, I'm crossing my fingers for the new RPGs coming our way. If they don't have legendary soundtracks, I don't know what will.

Are there any game soundtracks which have a special place in your heart? Do share

Yes! Finally someone agrees about Dark Cloud 2.
I freaking loved that game.

Here's my list that you can check out.

FF8 - Loved it!! Loved everything, Makes me remember my cousins house, because he plays it everyday. Balamb Garden... The Boss battle.. the Battle theme... They're just too good

Dark Cloud 2 - Best ever!! Makes me remember the good old days, waking up everyday during vacation t play this game for like 5 hours. lol, You guys wont believe this but I think I have more than 700+ Gameplay hours total from that game.

FF10 - Since this was the 1st PS2 game we got, everything was amazing! It makes you appreciate everything.

Animal Crossing - Almost most of them makes me happy The DS one is pretty good.

Megaman ZX - Made me appreciate Techno for some reason.

Ragnarok Online - Ahhh the good old days of trying to get my allowance to go to my local Internet cafe to play some Ragnarok Online. It's pretty much a dollar for 2 hours but I can usually just afford 1 hour. (Philippines), The game was really hyped, everyone was playing it!, The internet cafe's are ALWAYS FULL. And everyone is playing this game (Sometimes Gunbound). You can just hear Glast Heim music everywhere or Prontera Theme on the other computer. Memories *_*

But out of every music I played, it's Dark Cloud 2 that I like the best.
I have more but I don't feel like listing them all. lol :kz:

Hmmm, I've been planning to get hold of those two games. I have yet to play them, will check out some second-hand stores, it's been a nightmare to find!

A soundtrack really adds to the experience of a game, I really wish all developers would realize this and put in the time and effort to make every game a memorable experience. I'm so excited that LBP will be getting a music pack soon! I already can't help but smile whenever I hear that song from The Gardens theme

I've never been a musical person, it'd be difficult for me to get a sense of nostalgia from most game soundtracks.

Maybe i'm just not old enough though!
I play pretty much all of the games that i played as a kid as if they were new so they spark as much memories of my current life as they do when i played them for the first time

Maybe in 10 years i'll feel more nostalgic about these things, maybe when my life has moved away from playing games 24/7.

Oh definitley! Once you don't have as much time to play games anymore, you really do start noticing the finer details. You also become much more picky

For me I don't get that nostalgic feeling from mario and sonic music cause I listen to that music regularly!

Raptor Call of the Shadows music gives me a warm, fuzzy, blow-things-up kinda feeling inside.
Anyone else played that game when they were a kid?

Oh, and regarding new games and memorable soundtracks, see Super Mario Galaxy.

I have to say it, the old psx crash bandicoots had some great music that I still like to listen to now an again.
Josh Mancell brought a really fresh sound in those days and continued it all the way through the Jak & Daxter series.

Off course, I love all the classic but there are too many to name at the moment.

Oh and I am completely with Hilightnotes about Mario Galaxy, that music blew me away when the introduction level started.

The music from Super Mario World makes me remember back when I lived with my parents and we had an old CRT television in a hole in the wall where a fireplace was supposed to go. I used to always play it for hours, using that old trick with the Yoshi station to get 99 lives. I don't remember much beyond that, but I see it every time I hear the music, even in LittleBigPlanet remakes of the music. 2009-08-14 00:54:00

Most recently Lord of the Rings Online, best game soundtrack I've ever heard!

As for old stuff, probably Final Fantasy 7 more than anything else, although I did used to have a thing about the theme from Altered Beasts. Terrible game though lol.

You guys should check out this site if you haven't already, I used to use it for getting game tunes on my mobile phone, but it's worth just having a browse for nostalgia's sake. They've got all the old classics! :hero:

YES! I can't believe I forgot to mention MGS! I loved that theme, I got a hold of the full soundtrack, all the music is very distinct to MGS (just like in the MGS pack. They done a wonderful job in capturing that style)
