A song I recorded...

Hey ho all, I love music, and what's more, I love recording it! All my little ideas I get down on a digital four track and upload, and I've actually got a few...Well, "fans" locally. But I came up with this the other day and I'm actually rather proud of it, it's inspired by the Chilean political folk band Quilapay?n (beautiful music which I can actually relate to, being half South American). Tell me what you guys think, this is part of a music project I'm doing entitled "Heel", I hope you enjoy (PS. Turn up the volume): YouTube - "Overcast", Heel Music (Full song) Thanks, Mikey Dawwg. | 2009-08-12 21:08:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
I loved it, you have a real talent. I think its the best song of yours i've heard. Its a shame you don't have access to a recording studio, or do you? | 2009-08-12 21:21:00 Author: Leather-Monkey Posts: 2266 |

I have my own porta studio with four tracks I have to record everything though and it can be frustrating Thank you very much for commenting | 2009-08-12 21:30:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |

That's a really beautiful song, well done. I'm big on my folk music so I'll have to check out Quilapay?n as well. Have you heard of Nick Drake? You might be into him if you don't already know him. Superb folk musician. I remember the days of my 4 track as well. The recording quality sounds very good though. What sort of mic did you use out of interest. Also as a production tip you could try double tracking the main part. Record the exact same thing twice and pan one to the left and one to the right. It sounds really good. If it's a digital 4 track then perhaps you're not using cassettes or DAT tapes but if you are have you tried flipping the tape over so everything plays backwards? I've had alot of fun with that. | 2009-08-13 03:15:00 Author: Sosaku Posts: 146 |
It sounds like a song that could be on Noby Noby Boy. | 2009-08-13 06:30:00 Author: qrtda235566 Posts: 3664 |

Thank you very much I know about panning when mixing down, I do that a lot, particularly with my metal songs. I've been using a four track for seven years or so, my old one was a TASCAM analogue (I have tried it backwards, it's so cool! Always wanted to know how people got that sound), but now I have a digital, and even though the sound isn't quite as 'wet', still great quality. And as far as microphones, I use a standard microphone really. That, or the four-track's built in microphone (which is actually really good). | 2009-08-13 11:13:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
