Magician's Magic Box... Real magic

Archive: 9 posts

I did a quick search and nothing came up about this.
Just been taking apart the Magician's Magic Box object using the change parts of the object to dissolve technique. I was trying to find the emitters and look at their settings but now all I have is an arm which can't be changed to dissolve (which leads me to believe it is decoration but I got rid of it by crushing). So every piece of the object is gone...and still...it emits...
There is no visible emitter, it just keeps emitting in the exact same place over and over again even when the whole area has been selected by dragging a box and moving it.
Am I missing something or has MM again made something that is impossible for us to do?

I think the problem is that you can't see everything that's going on because you can't take MM objects apart fully and check everything that's going on all the time. So there's probably an emitter hidden somewhere.2009-08-12 16:27:00

Well the emitter is going to be attached to the object somewhere, no? I deleted everything in the object piece by piece and even when everything was deleted it still emitted.

Really? I didn't know you could do that to MM's objects from story mode... Then, I have no idea, sorry. ^^;2009-08-12 16:31:00

Yeah there are a couple of techniques, you can find them in here if you're interested.

The arm could be an object like the ones you will find if you go over in the objects part of the Pop-It in Create Mode. Objects like the bouncy snake, scorpion, doll parts, lights, etc, cannot be turned into dissolve, but are real objects that can be destroyed. As for the emitters, I'll have to check it out myself before I say anything.2009-08-12 17:53:00

Actually, it might be related to the way objects are working. When you blow them up or take them appart, they need to be obliterated quite completely to stop working. The game still continue to consider the object as "there and functional" even if visually it's gone.

An example of this is in my level Sack's On The Beach. You can blow up stuff near one of my pedestrians that are objects. You can litterally blow up the guy until it's just a little tiny piece of his head or hand that is visible but it will still move around like it still attached to a piston.

Possible...but when pulling it apart piece by piece I didn't see any emitter but maybe that was just me not looking carefully enough.
