Dissolving Suggestion

Right now, if you want dissolve material to look like something else, you need stickers, which can be removed, and so people will notice a trap. I have an idea for that.![]() | 2009-08-08 22:37:00 Author: Drakora ![]() Posts: 392 |
you can create this effect by attaching a creature brain to a bit if dark matter and then connecting that bit to the material you wish to dissolve by some invisible string. then, set a switch to 1 shot and attach it to the brain. when the switch is activated, the material should dissolve. should. i am not the expert on these things. even better you could use demitter technology. ask rtm for details. | 2009-08-08 22:42:00 Author: Deftmute ![]() Posts: 730 |
yeah this would be usefull, right now you have to hide it, the brain thing would work but the player would get points for it, i also wish that you could attach more than one switch to dissolve so more than one thing could activate it without out using logic | 2009-08-08 22:53:00 Author: redmagus ![]() Posts: 667 |
This would have been possible with the 'Cow Glitch' but that was removed. The cow glitch was when one material was made to have the properties of another. This wouldn't have been useful, however, if you wanted a heavy material to dissolve as (even though it would look like a heavy material) it would be as light as dissolve material (which is why this would be useful but will probably never happen). | 2009-08-08 22:59:00 Author: S-A-S--G-U-N-R ![]() Posts: 1606 |
true but cow materials that people made still work, i have a level on my moon with the multiple materials with the properties of oj floaty, peach floaty, dark matter and dissolve. | 2009-08-08 23:02:00 Author: redmagus ![]() Posts: 667 |
awwww i loved the cow glitch, you could make things float and make it seem like antigravity without the anoyying rounded edges of the pink floaty. Mm should bring it back | 2009-08-09 11:19:00 Author: theamilien ![]() Posts: 485 |

Even so, very few players would probably remove the sticker, so your trap would still get 95% of the unsuspecting Sackys frolicking in your level. ![]() Rick | 2009-08-10 03:56:00 Author: RickRock_777 ![]() Posts: 1567 |

Plus, all materials have paterns. Even if It has a sticker that looks just like another material, I can tell it's dissolve by looking at the edges. | 2009-08-10 17:21:00 Author: Drakora ![]() Posts: 392 |
*Cough* Cow glitch. You can get it from some levels. | 2009-08-10 17:33:00 Author: Adam9001 ![]() Posts: 744 |
And you should be able to corner edit cow'd materials too right? | 2009-08-11 18:35:00 Author: Unknown User ![]() |

On topic: I agree with TC, we should be able to make regular things dissolve. | 2009-08-11 19:01:00 Author: dandygandy2704 ![]() Posts: 1002 |

yeah...just use a brain but errrr...remember to use dark matter instead of glue or....bye-bye to your level......thank the sackgods there is a rewind button ![]() | 2009-08-12 05:34:00 Author: Flare Skull ![]() Posts: 216 |
The problem with the cow glitch is that it means your dissolved materials have all the properties of dissolve. IMO it's really annoying when glass isn't slippy and grabbable or metal is really light and grabbable (for example). Demitters are great for a trap because there is absolutely no way (visually or interactively) the player can tell what is coming. Also you can demit the pre-rendered objects (spikes etc). Also you get that warm fuzzy feeling that you only get when your creation isn't tarnished by glitchdom ![]() | 2009-08-12 08:56:00 Author: rtm223 ![]() Posts: 6497 |
Another handy way for the creature Brain is to have a rod that's stiff and invisible out of the road attach to some material with a creature brain on it. That way they won't suspect a thing ![]() Also I like defacing levels. By removing all the stickers they used. It's fun ![]() | 2009-08-12 13:40:00 Author: FlameAtNight ![]() Posts: 405 |

That way they won't suspect a thing Well you are right in the sense that the player doesn't hear the sound, but the points are still added, and the point counter comes up in the top left corner if it wasn't there, which is a dead-giveaway. Now if you could choose how many points a creature brain gave (and set it to zero), like the race gate, then this would work fine. | 2009-08-12 14:25:00 Author: BSprague ![]() Posts: 2325 |
