Making a Paint Switch without MGS Pack

Archive: 12 posts

Hello. If you don't have the MGS Pack, and you want to make monsters die when hit with paintballs, you've come to the right place! All you need is a paintball object, a HP Bar, a monster brain, and you must be willing to follow 9 easy steps. You can get the paintball and HP Bar from OrangeTraz's Workshop: Hit Points level.

Step 1: Place a paintball, and attach a Magnetic Key to it. Make the Magnetic Key invisible.

Step 2: Save the paintball.

Step 3: Make something to shoot the Paintball. Make sure it's grabable! Attach a grab switch, and set it to One Shot.

Step 4: Add an Emitter, that emits the paintball. Connect the grab switch to the emitter.

Step 5: Place a HP Bar object, and increase the range of the Pink Magnetic Key Switch on it so that it is just above the nearest piece of dissolve material. Select the bar and everything inside, and copy it. Then delete the first HP Bar.

Step 6: Add a monster. Attach a Protected Brain to thhe monster, as well as a Magnetic Key Switch the same color as the Key on the Paintball you just saved.

Step 7: Set both Magnetic Key Switches to One Shot.

Step 8: Connect the Pink Magnetic Key Switch from the HP Bar to the Protected Brain.

Step 9: Connect the Magnetic Key Switch on the monster to the emitter on the HP Bar.

There! You're done!

But you need the MGS pack to use the item in the first place.

no... someone who ownes the mgs pack captures a paintball and puts it in a prize bubble...someone who doesnt own the mgs pack gets the prize bubble and gets the paintball...they put said paintball into an emitter

like i said this may have been fixed but this is how it was when the mgs pack first came out. i know because i got a paintball and could use it before i bought the mgs pack

Incorrect. I have the paintball, and I can use it, but I don't have the MGS Pack.

you don't need the MGS pack to have a paintball. This is a very creative solution, but will be more thermo heavy than an actual paint switch. nice find.2009-08-08 22:42:00

That is strange, you can't even edit a level that has DLC you haven't DL'd yet. Me and Comphermc had to play hunt the sticker so I could edit a level he sent me. Seems strange they'd be heavy on the stickers but not the paintballs :s2009-08-09 13:25:00

i believe this became a loophole because sticker are actual items from the DLC itself, paintballs are a step down from that, they are a product from an item in the DLC so they escape the normal "you dont own this" message because they were never intended to actually be an item themselves and so the normal rules dont constrain them
