Help with making a devious puzzle

Hi everyone. I need a puzzle for my new level bassically and ive tried thinking of one but i cant come up with anything. Can anyone help me?2009-08-08 18:15:00

It depends, what kind of puzzle are you looking for? does it need to have something to do with the level's story or mechanics or does it not matter? whats the overall goal of the puzzle?2009-08-08 18:41:00

You can make a Door were you need an X amount of keys for to open it.
And put those keys all through you level, and make the people search for it.

i need something thats not boring such as find the key to open the door. the main objective is to solve the puzzle and open a door to get to the next area. the theme is a technical electrical super secret base - something along the lines of starcrusier by candyK but obviously not as good 2009-08-09 11:09:00

Hide a pattern somewhere in the level, and then if the player saw it and remember it, they can input it there to open the door. If you leave a hint at the beginning to remember everything, it could work out pretty good.2009-08-09 11:26:00

Darn , I had a 4 part puzzle in one of my old levels which unfortunately I have now deleted.

I had 4 doors at the start of the level which had to be opened individually with 4 separate puzzles. I put a series of little rhymes at the start to give clues about the puzzles. Just to give you some idea the idea was something like this :

(1) See-Saw balance. This had a heavy weight on one end and you had to fly around on a jetpack and find some smaller weights to stack on the other end. Then when the see-saw tipped the other way it opened 1 of the doors.

(2) This was a statue holding it's arms out and asking for it's gems to be returned which you had to find and place one on each hand thus opening another door.

(3) A simple sticker switch to open another door which required a bit of platforming to get to.

I can't remember what the 4th one was just now but you get the idea anyway.

I also made some bells for that level which I still think were one of my best early creations. Unfortunately I don't have those any more but I'm sure I could make some better ones now. With those you had to get to a switch by platforming which activated the bells that started moving back and forth across a fiery chasm. You then had to swing from the grabbable clangers from one to the next.

I hope that is helpful and gives you a few ideas.
