** Runs back to the computer to try to be the first one to post on the thread **

** Poop - Den Sis got there first... **

** Then CompherMC! (I should have hit save!) **

But "I" got to play it first!

Ok, here goes:

6 gun salute of awesomeness! Man, those were some scary good graphics combined with a TON of unique, well-balanced gameplay. This level is totally enthralling from the beautiful character cutscenes, to the plentiful platforming, all the way to the FANTASTIC ending.

This level is stunning and polished.

One TINY thought I had was on the part where you swing from the poles - the very last swing to get you on the platform can be tricky. It took me several tries to get up on it - which means a youngun might have a bigger issue - maybe lower the platform at the end of the pole swing a TAD (and I'm talking a very small amount) if this concerns you.

Great job! 5 stars and a heart.

Beautifully crafted level. I loved the puzzle where you had to position the swing blocks in advance - very well done. I must be brief in my feedback, though.

I only had one area where there was some trouble. If you are playing by yourself, it's possible to go up and around the x2 area and trap yourself in it by falling down the left (I was curious, okay!?).

5 stars and a heart. There were quite a few 5 star levels released today. Watch out Cool Pages, LBPC is coming through!

Edit: Morgana, I won!

As I said in the PSN message, awesome gameplay. I love how it just all flows nicely. Whereas a lot of my game play can be quite mechanical based, yours in this level is all about the physics, and the chain reaction of what you do. It's fantastic because that kind of gameplay is very hard to keep fresh and innovative.

All in all an awesome level. Minor things, I thought the part where you had to use the paintinator was a bit bland. The scenery seemed to just be like a block of stone in the background, just thought it could have benefited from the level of decoration the rest of your level received

I too got stuck in the two player bit after going up the one player route and then went exploring to the left instead of just going to the right

Perhaps make a hinged saloon door that only opens one way?

5 stars, and a heart Great work!

Thanks for trying my new Tribal Ruins too!

Best level ever! If you worked at mm this would have been in the canyons theme!

One thing is the wheel barrow catapult took a long time to do but the level is amazing!

Great level, wex. Enjoyed it even more now that it's published. I enjoyed the few touches and details you added, like the 2x section. Ingenious way to a "fix" a camera problem.

I only ran into one thing, kind of funny actually... me and my party were having a laugh at the elastic sponge descent because we were failing so entertainingly and all wearing the same costume... I get to the bottom after I finally got serious, but then I step back right before the battle with crazy bill and run behind that whole section looking for points. I run all the way left and die from squishing myself into a tiny crevice.

I love the start of this series, the story, the look of the level with it's material set (the train and tepees etc) the character art, the fun flow of it, and some of the ingenuity in the design - like using elastic instead of string for the sponge drops, the shooting barrels, the gear based zipline, and the part where you arrange the sponges over the spikes... everything felt like a fresh spin on conventions.

Excellent stuff, I'm just mad that it wasn't all three parts when I saw you had published part 1 earlier. I know people are going to love this whole thing.

I finished this quite awhile ago, but just now got a chance to comment.

Impeccably awesome level! Incredible detail and in the MM style except that the characters are "go ahead make my day" phenomenal!! ..oh wait.. wrong movie!

Fun and great game play. Loved all grab and flip things to move upward. The barrel canons were a tad tricky, but still a late grab near the side will get in you and ready for another blast up. Loved all the set pieces and how can I not comment enough on the train the ending bridge scene. Even the gunfight was cool and fun, but you decided to throw in a horse. Well that lost it for me.. No no.. just kidding.

Pros
Immaculately clean and polished
Custom characters out the wazoo
Loved the barrel canons as well as the pull down jump bridges.
The grab and position stuff for the swingys below? Woah dude!!! Way out there cool!
Incredible train and buildings and and and and.. I give up!!

Gheeesh!! There was so much greatness that I can't recall it all and would have to go back through it and take notes!

Cons.. well I think you fixed my only nitpik that CCubbage reported on that last pole on the building. It was manageable, but it probably not like you intended, but it sounds like it is now fixed. If I had to be uber uber UBER picky, I would say a few thin layer foreground pieces here and there once you are on the floor. Though to be honest, I can't recall if you could even get away with it as I was really way too stunned to care!!

Wonderful and thanks so much for sharing.

8 stars and a heart, but since the ratings bug hit me, I gave you 5 and a heart. LOL

Since you have F4F enabled, if you could leave some comments on my level, it would be most appreciated. You have already shared with me what you think, but it would be an honor to have it all officially like and also see any nitpicks that I might not realize. Thanks!

I loved it, beautiful level! I'm going to play through this a second time and work on breaking everything and going places I'm not supposed to, just for kicks.

The first this I'm noticing is that the girl at the beginning's dissolve is showing. How embarrassing . Just around the back a bit there is still green visible.

One thing that's going to happen through this play is that if you jump as you let go of the jump barrels, you can propel yourself twice as far. I'm at the first barrel in the level, bashing my head against the rock ceiling... I'm sure I'll be able to use the to go places I'm not supposed to later.

The first half of the level is very solid, very idiot-proof. The barrels can be difficult just because of the shaking, but the extra height from jumping makes it much easier. I'm a big fan of this mechanism you make with the movable swings, which clamps them to the slider.

One thought I have is that the area just after the elastic sponges, the metal you can see through above would be an amazing place to put a secret. Just changing the metal to a thin plane would open a path behind it with a fairly hard to reach entrance. The third plane in the same place is empty, which you can go into behind the rest of the level, as was pointed out earlier.

There's a typo in Crazy Bill's message, It should be partner instead of pardner.
Very well done bossfight though. A few more explosives would have made it more difficult, as it is you just have to move from time to time as you grind down the targets above. As everything else in this level, it looks great though.

This next section with the buildings is where I had the most luck going places not apparently intended.
-You can easily jump from the wagon's horse to where the boss rode around. This would be a good way to get the the possible secret I mentioned. One problem with the area, though, is that when you switch to the third plane you can go behind where the boss rode. I got stuck back there and had to kill myself off to get out.
-Jumping on the last pole you swing across makes it simple to get on the roof of the first building, which also gives you access to the top of the wagon. You can also get to the top of the second building from there.
-You can also use the barrel to get to the second roof.
The square sponge is also not needed, as the other grab switch is low enough to grab without it.
-Using the blown up train I was able to escape the area, which took me back to the moving swing sponges. I'm guessing jumping down from here will only leave me stuck and unable to finish, so I'll have to refrain for now.

I like that you put in the arch. Arches are a cool part of western geology and very interesting to look at, all western levels should have arches!

Very very nice looking level, as you can see above, I really wasn't able to do much to it. I'm not even sure if any of that is new or important to you, but there is.

And of course, let's not forget the moral of the story: Cultural misunderstandings are an excellent excuse to blow up your neighbors and their property!

I'll play this tomorrow Wex. Why does real life and work always come between me and LBP??

I think its more the wild west pronunciation than a spelling mistake.

Hi wex

(NOTE: There's a small typo in the description - it says 'detroy' instead of 'destroy'.)

Amazing intro, a 'wex' tradmark.

On my first playthrough, I think I managed to break one of the barrel catapult things (near the 2x player sign). I landed in the second one okay and it spat me out, but then it continued to rotate on the winch on its own, and I couldn't get back in it. It may have been a fluke, or am I doing something wrong?

Anyway, I've seen enough to make me want to play it, so will have another go later.

Hi Wex. You know I've been looking forward to this for ages and had to play it as soon as I saw it was published. Here are my thoughts :

+ Briliant design as always. Awesome train and covered wagon
+ Great gameplay
+ Great character designs and story
+ Ingenious and original mechanisms. The barrels at the start were brilliant once I realised they rotated after you grabbed them underneath. I kept landing on top and wondering why I couldn't get any higher LOL.
+ Loved the idea with the moveable swings which lock into place. Very clever idea which I haven't seen before.

- After lots of attempts to get past the spikes and sponges on elastic part I eventually got to the bottom and my first thought was there might be some hidden bubbles behind the scenery so I went to have a look and something squished me sending me back to the top and forcing me to do that all over again. AArggh. That was the only annoying thing I found.
- At the boss fight I had no idea why I was shooting the sponges up above. What did that actually do? Also when I shot the last one to end the fight a speech bubble came up but only for a split second and I never got chance to read it.
- Brilliant design. This is a con because your covered wagon blew mine out of the water ( I realised after publishing that it should have had a curved top but was too lazy to change it ) and after seeing your train the one I've made for Sheriff Sack part 2 is now redundant. 'Darn you pardner' for designing such great looking stuff !!

Overall it was totally brilliant and and is certainly one of those levels I'll be replaying many times if only to marvel at the great ideas and designs. Awesome work mate.

I still don't know how to do those automatic story and intro bits though. Is it done with a talking tool like Maraz Matari's but with a very slow moving piston or something different altogether ??

I just managed to break it too Wex I'm afraid. I think it's if you try grabbing when you're like pretty much side on...

The barrel just spins on it's own now and you can't grab the sponge that's in it.

I just managed to break it again, by letting go, and then grabbing again before I'd left the cannon. Is the sponge a really tight fit in the cannon? Doesn't seem to like too much force being put on it, and timing those are pretty tricky so I think most people are not going to be getting it spot on.

Just noticed 2 and 3 are out...Off to play them then! Awesome

Probably not such a good idea me attempting to give actual feedback on a level because I am so useless as a gamer. I go into a blind panic if I have to jump higher than my own foot!!

However, I would like to say that what I saw of your level Wex was absolutely astoundingly brilliant. I'm a big fan of visuals and I loved them in this level. The characters were beautifully crafted. Hand carved to precision as I like to call it!

If only I had some of your skills.

Fantastic work, well done that man!!

Well, I played this level this morning, and WOW. I was not expecting this level to be even NEAR as good as it is (and I expected it to be AMAZING).

The intro was very well done, and the character design is breathtaking. The characters have loads of little details, and it was an excellent way to start the level.

The visuals of the actual gameplay were pretty simple, but it worked very well. It really did look a lot like a canyon, and the town and train parts were very well designed.

The gameplay was quite unique and refreshing, and were a great use of the game's physics, although I found the first barrel part to be quite frustrating. The boss battle is also excellent, and I like how Crazy Bill is riding a well-designed horse. I thought the visuals were fine for the boss battle.

Overall, :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart!

Played through it last night (yes Comphermc and CCubbage beat me to it - darn real life, making me feed the cat in the middle of running to the PS3)

Loved it! The glowy daylight lighting is really cool and makes the wood you choose look so good. The shapes you have combined with the material selection reminded me of those old Road Runner cartoons with the beautiful orangy pink rock formations. Very Southwest US.

+ intro cinematic is amazing
+ loved that you pan on the background skull.... an LBP 1st!
+ The indian (native american) is so detailed and has your style written all over it. great use of decorations for some of the details on that too.
+ Bill is scary in a Clint Eastwood - don't mess with the quiet guy - kind of way.
+ I like that you have a 1x route and a 2x alternative. I play with groups a lot so it's nice to know you took that into consideration.
+ The catapult wagon is cool - hard to pull it down in time if you botch but still fun.
+ The moveable sponge part with the "clamps" is genius. I love that mechanic and I'm shocked no one thought to use that before. It looks great too.
+ sponge on elastic surrounded by spikes - you took out most of my party with this one. Subtle challenge that I didn't expect. Nicely done. Liked the shapes of the rocks in this area too.
+ The train is amazingly cool! Awesome color and design. Very "Jules Verne" kind of vibe I picked up on it.... (haven't played 2 or 3 yet so I'll have to see if that is a hint of sorts)

Couple of things that I wasn't in love with (and they're minor nit picks)

- The hanging platforms right at the beginning are very hard with more than 1 player (camera dropping off players and the swingy nature of the platforms)
- Bill battle is pretty straightforward. I like that it's shooting gallery style (ish) but it's not too challenging.
- When the train explodes it's a little unclear what to do at first and the explosions could be even more dramatic with cut scenes or something. (very VERY minor nitpick)

I'm loving the series so far - can't wait to try parts 2 and 3 tonight! 5 stars - hearted. Just love it when you put new levels out - guaranteed fun! Thanks again for sharing them!

WOW this level is AWESOME.

Great platforming and and awesome aesthetics, i really like the ideas in this, like that cog on a rack thing (if that makes sense) and the intro, a nice feature.

Some parts that were particularly difficult were
the barrels going up that rotate when u grab in them, i kept missing the barrels or grabing them and ending up outside the barrel, forcing me to use another controler to go through the X2 part.

However this level is great, i give 5 stars, recomend to all, well done

Very nice level, just 2 things I found wrong with it:
-That part where you have to swing on the poles is very frustrating, maybe the poles should be a little higher of the thing you jump on a little lower?
-The paintanator part was a little empty so it didn't have the same feel as the rest of the level.
I gave it 4 stars.

Very fun! I liked the intro cutscene and it looks amazing! It really reminded me of Boom Town, but it's much better! I just wish you published part 2 and 3 sooner, I didn't know they would come so soon! Oh, I wish I could get on the PS3 right now...
I was playing online with a friend, and I enjoyed the multi-player route! Very creative! The storyline was great, and I enjoyed every part of the level.
Cons: Perfect levels don't have cons!!!

I gave it

F4F: Leave some feedback on the level in my sig, free stickers and stuff.

Hi guys all your feedback has been amazing. I only realised yesterday that the "frustrating poles" part was something else entirely than what I thought it was. I kept going back and editing the part where you had to align the 3 swings???? I completely overlooked the section you were all talking about

Anyway this is fixed now.

also, apologies on the lame boss battle, I swear i will never attempt one again.

No. 1 rule.... Stick to what your good at
