Mighty Morphing Sackboy!
Archive: 28 posts
Hey, check this out! I was messing around in create mode when I discovered a way to morph the hell out my sackboy... Anyone remember Sadako, the vengeful ghost from The Ring? http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=628&pictureid=5471 Here's another... http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=628&pictureid=5470 These pictures are simply photos taken in create mode, with no image manipulation involved. I could tell you how I did this, but wouldn't it be more fun to speculate? | 2009-08-06 23:18:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
Naw..... it would be more fun if you tell us how you did it. Speculation is for when there isn't someone around who ACTUALLY knows something. | 2009-08-06 23:22:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Naw..... it would be more fun if you tell us how you did it. Speculation is for when there isn't someone around who ACTUALLY knows something. Well, since you were kind enough to playtest my level recently, I guess I could spill the beans via PM...but only if you promise not to tell! What do you think...can you keep a secret? | 2009-08-06 23:27:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
Here's a secret: Don't tell anyone your secrets. | 2009-08-06 23:36:00 Author: Outlaw-Jack Posts: 5757 |
Here's a secret: Don't tell anyone your secrets. ...but you just told me one, tattle-tale! | 2009-08-06 23:38:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
Well, it's better to tell a secret everyone knows than tellin' them somethin' you only know! | 2009-08-06 23:40:00 Author: Outlaw-Jack Posts: 5757 |
Well, it's better to tell a secret everyone knows than tellin' them somethin' you only know! Yeah, well it's better to...erm...better to put all your rolling stones in one basket than to teach your grandmother how to suck moss! No, wait! I mean... Bah, forget it! You win! So you gonna take a guess at how I morphed my sackboy, or what? | 2009-08-06 23:49:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
Did you grab onto something and then drop a bunch of bombs on yourself? | 2009-08-07 00:02:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |
Like Cubbage said, it's no fun speculating if you already know the answer I want teh answerz! | 2009-08-07 00:06:00 Author: hilightnotes Posts: 1230 |
Put sackboy in a box shape wearing a jetpack and attach the box to pistons moving very fast up and down causing sackboy to shake up and down very fast and make this happen? | 2009-08-07 00:11:00 Author: persona3fan93 Posts: 155 |
Did you grab onto something and then drop a bunch of bombs on yourself? Well, yeah I did actually. It hurt like hell, but it was kinda fun! Oh, wait. You mean in the game? No, that's not how I morphed sackboy. | 2009-08-07 00:13:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
Did you grab onto something, put a wall in between you and the object you grabbed, and then have the grabbed object move away? | 2009-08-07 00:16:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |
Put sackboy in a box shape wearing a jetpack and attach the box to pistons moving very fast up and down causing sackboy to shake up and down very fast and make this happen? No, no, and thrice no. Interesting hypothesis though. You ever tried that? Did you grab onto something, put a wall in between you and the object you grabbed, and then have the grabbed object move away? What?! Don't tell me she reported me for it! I was very drunk that night and... Oh, you mean in the game again? No...that's not how I morphed sackboy. | 2009-08-07 00:22:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
does it have something to do with a glitched object of sorts? like a panel of glass you can walk through, perhaps? | 2009-08-07 01:26:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |
does it have something to do with a glitched object of sorts? like a panel of glass you can walk through, perhaps? Getting warmer, but...no. There's no glass you can walk through. | 2009-08-07 01:34:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
well, yes there is glass you can walk through, but warmer at least... something glitchy is going on. | 2009-08-07 04:13:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |
does it have something to do with a glitched object of sorts? like a panel of glass you can walk through, perhaps? I was going to guess that. But, since Ungreth said otherwise, I guess that's not the answer. I'm thinking you died, and then once you popped back to life, you took a picture of yourself... bah, that's probably wrong. It looks like the material you're wearing is glitched. Cuz usually, I don't see a black piece of cloth or black bird feathers in the decorations inventory... | 2009-08-07 04:16:00 Author: Outlaw-Jack Posts: 5757 |

Here's a close-up... http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=628&pictureid=5472 So yeah, the material has glitched. No decorations involved. The outfit didn't just glitch on it's own though. | 2009-08-07 09:06:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
Holy s***! Sure that sackboy is ugly! | 2009-08-07 11:27:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
Do they actually stay like that constantly? Is it actually playable like that? Do players online see it as well? It's all very interesting to me. | 2009-08-07 11:39:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |
holy ****! that creeped me out, especially the first picture. I still got nightmares from that movie... I'll never forget it... | 2009-08-07 11:41:00 Author: oldage Posts: 2824 |

So far I've only tried it in create mode, but I'm going to experiment a little and see if I can get it working in play mode. Once you exit to pod your sackboy will be normal again. | 2009-08-07 12:13:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
It's obviously hacks. | 2009-08-07 12:13:00 Author: Zac Posts: 165 |
It's obviously hacks. Huh? What does that mean? You saying I somehow hacked into the game? Even if that's possible, it's way beyond my technical knowledge. I even had to ask people here how to transfer photos from my PS3 to my PC yesterday, so...yeah. Anyway, here's a couple more... http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=628&pictureid=5477 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=628&pictureid=5476 | 2009-08-07 14:02:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
Ok then, I give up. How does it work? I'm dying to know. | 2009-08-07 14:06:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |
Ok then, I give up. How does it work? I'm dying to know. Time to fess up huh? Here's how I did it... First you need Bakscratch's glitched multi-layer foreground object. (A player known as Thi is giving it away in a level if you don't have it already). Second, you need to be in create mode, because this doesn't work in play mode. Now form a large block of foreground material (I used dark matter) and turn it to gas. With the game paused and with sackboy set to fly mode, fly into the gasseous mass you just created. As you fly around inside the gas and approach the outer edges of the block your sackboy will start to morph, creating a similar effect to those whacky mirrors you see in carnival fun-houses. If you cut into the big gaseous block and embed it with smaller gaseous blocks, this creates more edges and a greater morphing effect. If you take a photo, the gas will not be visible in the background. BTW, the effects you get are largely dependent on the costume you wear. Clothing which "flows" creates the best effects, but you can experiment with different combinations as you like. Also, if you create an object with decorations attached, the decorations will warp as you move it around inside the gas. So, there you go. Not a useful glitch by any means, but fun to mess around with. | 2009-08-07 14:33:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
