I don't think anyone said that, adam. It's just not very good if your customers think of a product that is not your own when they see your ad. It does defeat the point of advertising a bit. | Well, the song has been around for awhile. While it's not very clever for MS to use a song that is closely linked to LBP, it does fit quite well to what they are trying to bring across. They started off as a proper gamer's console (a fat PS2 with exclusives) and now they're trying to turn themselves into a family console like the Wii (plus they ripped the Mii characters or whatever they're called from Wii too). | It`s a strange choice of song. Given that the purpose of the advert is to get people interested and talking about your product. All anyone is talking about is LBP. Had the song been famous and on the radio all the time, I could see why MS would want to 'take it back' and have it associated with their product, but it`s a rather obscure song that I don`t think I`ve ever heard outside LBP. | I never really had anything against Xbox or Microsoft, after all, I am using XP as my OS. The only reason I don't have a 360 over a PS3 is because I just don't like Halo, Gears of War, or any of the other exclusives (which, mind you, are all war games). I've played Playstation my entire life, so there's good reasons to stick with them. Back on topic... Now, while I never had anything wrong with Xbox before, the fact they used this song is just plain wrong. No, it's not a copyright to Mm or Sony, but the very fact that this song has always been widely-known as the theme song to LBP, just seems completely wrong. I agree that this looks like an aggressive ad, trying to stray people from PS3 and for some reason, give the 360 a more family-friendly look, which I really never thought it was, because all of the exclusives are war games, basically, and all of the non-violent titles can be found on the PS3. | What a very strange thing to do. They could have chosen from any number of happy happy tunes, so clearly, they wanted this one because of LBP, but what's the pay off? The only people who recognize it are LBP players, and it wouldn't have been hard to predict it's effect on them. Did they think there would be a lot of kids who played LBP, but were un-able to remember what system they played it on?! Or maybe, an out-of-touch middle-management type over-heard an underling sarcastically say "how about something by the 'go team'?", and completely didn't get-it.
