When Trash Attacks Part 1: IntroShris http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=624&pictureid=5424Something strange has happened at the junkyard. Make your way through the city and into the junkyard to discover what happened and stop it. all This is a fairly short level, kind of a set up for part 2. Originally just 1 level but how I wanted it built wouldn't fit, but now I can make it bigger and better than planed. I'm not to good at making stories for levels so I didn't include any in this level, hopefully the description will be enough for a back story of it all. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=624&pictureid=5424 All the letters are colored but when I take pictures of it some don't show http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=624&pictureid=5426 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=624&pictureid=5425 It may seem a bit obvious to some but you have to jump on their heads. | 2009-08-05 23:44:00 Author: Shris Posts: 126 |
I went to play this and hadn't realized I had given you an author heart allready! Must have been when I played the RobotTown levels. This level is very short but good. I love the epic opening and the container ship going away. Bodes well for the sequels! I think we have a similar approach to level making. I love designing good looking levels but have a hard time with stories. The lack of speech bubbles is good for me because I usually just close them and skip along! If you have time and like the pictures in my feedback thread I would love a play and comment from you. Link in sig! | 2009-08-06 11:03:00 Author: Kipmonlin Posts: 251 |
That intro ride in is pretty sweet... takes the idea of the collector tram and cranks it up a notch. Very cool, and I love how it slows down and comes to a stop, instead of just suddenly halting. Great ideas... hilarious premise. Very attack of the killer tomatos/killer klowns kind of vibe to it... not as platforming intense as your other levels, or as epic in scope but you put a ton of time into making a realized and immersive world. The trash truck getting pulled over was hilarious, and so was the runaway trash barge... can't wait to see where you take this series. | 2009-08-07 08:21:00 Author: Unknown User |
Thanks for the feedback Glad theres no problems so far, at least not mentioned. All the ideas started coming to me after I made the enemy for no reason so I just made the level. Yeah, the level is pretty short but I couldn't think of a way you keep it going without anything completely out of place as the the level stretches to each end of the space. | 2009-08-09 01:00:00 Author: Shris Posts: 126 |
A bit on the short side...and this prevented 5 stars...but 4 is always good. I really liked the trash can enemies, even if sometimes, if you don't nail the jump they're prone to fall on the side and gas you. | 2009-08-09 14:50:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
This is really good. The dustbin baddys were really unique since you had to shut the lids to kill them. Everything looks great btw. | 2009-08-09 21:12:00 Author: Unknown User |
I liked the structure of the level, although I thought it could be a little bit more detailed with decorations | 2009-08-10 04:10:00 Author: TheFirstAvenger Posts: 787 |
When I read the title of the level, I didn't know what to expect. What I got was an awesome (but short) level. The intro was very smooth and the scenery looked great. I really liked how you hid the enemies brains and how we had to kill the garbage cans. Something else I really liked was the way the level felt alive. There were dumpsters opening up, trash cans falling over, and a barge set off into the waters. The amount of detail in the elevator shaft was a nice addition. Usually they're just hallways with lights, but you polished yours, and I like it. My only complaint is how short it was. But that's what sequels are for. :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart | 2009-08-10 06:03:00 Author: RickTheRipper Posts: 345 |
I'm sorry that I feel the same sensation that I had with RickTheRipper's latest level... The level is good, and awesome looking, with a cool use of contraptions, but from wonderful Robo Town's creator I expected more. 4 stars anyway. | 2009-08-10 06:53:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
Thanks for all the feedback, glad to see the thread picked up a bit Sorry the level is lacking a lot on decorations, but I'm used to, in industrial themed levels, being able to throw decorations all over and not have to worry about it making sense, as was the style of the RoboTown series. I really liked was the way the level felt alive. Never thought about it that way, nice way to look at it. I actually added a another subway/tram that crosses the level everything 30 secs. or so, but unfortunely, it too high up to really tell besides the sound. but from wonderful Robo Town's creator I expected more. I agree, not my best level so far. Hopefully you'll like my next level more, a remake. | 2009-08-10 08:20:00 Author: Shris Posts: 126 |
