X2 resolution curves & True 120 sided circle
Archive: 11 posts
level name: "NOT A LEVEL 2arc" The resolution of a stock circle is 20 sides. These curves include a 40 sided circle, A 20 sided arch, And a demo object from a shape editor I am working on; A 120 sided circle! yes, overkill, but you should see that sucker roll! My shape editing level isn't ready for show yet, but the 120s circle is it's first produced object, and is a proof of concept more than anything. this demo level is copyable, so feel free to take and use the shapes. the name of the level: "NOT A LEVEL 2arc" | 2009-08-05 18:22:00 Author: swanbrown Posts: 898 |

Just tryed it, and the two objects are pretty cool, can't wait to see the shape editor. | 2009-08-05 19:12:00 Author: L0l_L0l- Posts: 139 |
just how thermo intensive are these objects? | 2009-08-08 20:06:00 Author: Deftmute Posts: 730 |
Isn't a 120 sided circle possible by just pasting the circle object over and over while rotating? Not to diss your level in ANY way, Swan!! I'm loving what you have done so far to give creators new tools. I will check this level out but I am just wondering as I have created a "perfect" circle myself on multiple ocassions with very little effort. | 2009-08-08 21:32:00 Author: Zwollie Posts: 2173 |

Wow interesting. I like to see new contraptions/inventions. | 2009-08-08 23:22:00 Author: Unknown User |
Cool, i'm standing in the level as i post , it just rolls by itself | 2009-08-08 23:34:00 Author: springs86 Posts: 785 |
@deft mute: They can tax your thermo a bit, (especially the 120s circle) so i wouldn't recoment trying to make a whole level out of them, but they are good for things you want extra smooth, or want to roll with out bumping along. @Zwollie: Yes, you can place a circle on it's self and rotate, but it's not mathematically accurate, Plus, you have to go in with the corner editor and delete every other corner. Otherwise you end up with a 40 pointed star (looks like a circle, but wastes thermo, and isn't true.) @Incinerator22: Good for BIG hills where the stock circles are more noticable. Also good for big gradual curves you might want for coasters, and line-rider type levels. @springs86: I'm not sure it rolls by it's self. In this case, it got a little shove from the arch, but it does roll really smooth (even over sack-boy protesters that try to stand in it's way) Thanks for your interest! Right now the editor is Klunky, Funky, only makes circles, and is not user friendly at all. I hope to have it able to make accurate elipses and spirals with adjustable X Y ratios. I just have to work the math to get the ratios proper. | 2009-08-09 12:23:00 Author: swanbrown Posts: 898 |
would this device be able to make uniform spokes in various angles non-perpendicular to any axis? honestly i can't even imagine the device you could be working on. i keep visualizing a lathe and that can't possibly be right....right? is it some kind of object easle that rotates your object for you so you can use the grid with no grid freedom? | 2009-08-10 00:45:00 Author: Deftmute Posts: 730 |
it's basically a step-lathe with step-actuated Guide pistons. Now that you mention it, I suppose you could make spokes with a special bit. neat idea! --- the concept of the step cycle I'm using is from a count-down display by ninjamicwiz. I'm just developing and alternate app for his teck. | 2009-08-10 02:31:00 Author: swanbrown Posts: 898 |
