The house of living puppets

Archive: 11 posts

Inspirated by Naruto's Kankuro (or sasori?)

I have always tried to make a scary level, And this one is going to be GOOD.

The start isn't the most original one;
Your Car screws up. And in a distance, you see a house. Maybe they have a phone you can use?
Then you get attacked by a puppet! Someone called. "The master of Puppets" (yes, I like metallica) is trying to kill you, for entering his house, and you have to defeat him. The phone is up in his room, but will you survive long enough to get there?

I am making my own music to this level, in addition to using the normal LBP music.
(A_Morton's way of making music - play his tutorial in his music level).
I will lower the level of ALL music and kindly ask you to raise your TV volume so you can hear it normal. That way, You'll jump all the way to the moon when I use a scream and some bloody thing pops up!
I'll try to be as original as possible!
Feedback appreciated!

Well, thank all of you for the pupaphobic warnings, I had no idea of what the word was for that... And actually, I didn't even think of a warning!

Yes, the puppets should be looking somewhat like those KoRnDawwg, thanks for the picture, it could help me a bit.

Unfortunately I don't think I can make it to a pure horror level, as I am a Metallica fan, so I JUST HAVE TO fool around with the name MASTER OF PUPPETS. But I'll try to keep the other things than horror as far into the gloomy cave of my mind as possible...

Thank you all for feedback!

Awesome idea, make sure your puppets look like these (not suitable for pupaphobics):

lol xD Devil May Cry ftw! Anywhom, great idea, I like the fact that you're using your own music - looped, I assume? Oh, and another tip from your horror loving sadist creator - muggy lighting is great, just have a faint haze here and there revealing something shadowy. Gives that eerie feeling and a great effect

I look forward to it!

You should include a warning somewhere that says:

"Those with pupaphobia should stay away from this thread and subsequent level."

I personally am not afraid of or made uncomfortable by puppets, but some people are terrified of them, and the picture in the second post most likely won't help.

If my logic doesn't fail me, people with pupaphobia are not likely to visit a thread about puppets...

Sounds cool. I agree that there aren't enough horror levels. If its pulled off right, it'll be great.2009-08-05 21:04:00

Oh, by the way Mr Artic Polar...Bear (?), if you want to make a really creepy level, I suggest playing Spectral Fear by Crow- and SIREN: Lost World By ExaltedYawn. Give ya inspiration 2009-08-05 21:16:00

Can't sleep...clowns will eat me!

lol

EDIT: er...on topic, cool idea! I'd love to see a horror level without the comedy, like the one i just mentioned.

That's a good point, but I would still put all major puppet-related things in spoilers. I actually knew someone who was prone to having panic attacks when exposed to puppets. They eventually got over it with the help of a psychologist, but the point is that things like that really happen.

Well I guess the best point is forged from experience, I understand I'll take off the IMG tags

-shivers- some puppets give me the creeps while others don't. I get freaked out by the freaky smiling human ones with painted faces (like Jigsaw! :S) but the animal ones are fine, in fact I kinda like them2009-08-06 17:32:00
