Sort of New

Archive: 15 posts

Hello, I'm sort of new. I joined less then a week ago I think and never posted anything here. I'm planning on staying so might as well. I just spent a bunch of time putting all my drawings on my profile so I think it's official.

I might not post much yet since I don't have a level (plans on F4F), but I love to give feedback and will play a level four times to find as much as I can for improvements. If you go on gamefaqs a lot I was Lief_of_Del. Well, I don't know what else to say.

Hi Roanoake. Glad you are getting active here...it's a lot of fun.

It's great you are considering creating your very own level. The best advice I can give you is to play with everything in your popit before you start creating...every material, shape, switch, bolt, piston, rocket, sensor, sticker, etc. Make some contraption that comes to mind, which will familiarize you with many of the tools you'll have at your disposal.

Then, when you feel "EMPOWERED", unleash your creative genius and let it flow...that's a lot of fun too.

If you need help on anything, feel free to ask me, or anyone of the other members of this site.

Enjoy your stay!

Rick

You love Play-testing, you say? wooo hoo! This is the place for you. (2 paragraphs of shameless plugging deleted here) Lots of fabulous folk frequent this forum (say 5 times quick) and they are TAL-EN-TED. I mean they are Amazingly brilliant!

you may think I exaggerate, but you shall see.

welcome!

Hey,

Welcome to the forums. It doesn't matter if you don't have a level, I've one of the most active members here and I still haven't made a level I'm sure you'll fit in fine anyway

BTW, I'm pretty sure you left a comment on one of my levels the other day. TBH, I thought there was some question implied, but I wasn't entirely sure what it was! If you want help with anything in particular, let me know - it's easier to contact me on here than on PSN as well btw. If that wasn't you, and I've got the wrong username, then sorry!

Oh and rick, I took the liberty of editing your post, hope you don't mind:

Make some EVERY contraption that comes to mind, which will familiarize you with many of the tools you'll have at your disposal.

Haha thanks everyone! I'm sure I will be here for a long time so look for me and say hi once in awhile. I usually just read everything and don't post, but I'm trying to break that habit.

@Zwollie
Happy birthday! I think...

@rtm
Yep, that was me that left a comment on your level. Since I was different and decided to make my first level extremely complicated I thought I might be going to you eventually for help. Right now I'm trying to chip away at the unnecessary thermo space by condencing as much as I can, so right now I don't have any particular questions. From what I have noticed so far you have a great understanding of the games mechanics, so that's why I left a comment for you. If you don't mind, after I get farther in my level I would like to see if you can help me lower the amount of space taken by the thermo. If I can't get passed that, then my level will never be completed.

@Burnvictim
Of course you've helped! If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have made this much progress. I'm rewriting all my notes right now and hopefully I can make it past the thermo with all the tricks I'm doing. Once I'm finished with my notes I will be able to start with the tech demo. I will need help with that part though. Even though I don't have much experience I have a good understanding of what's possible (and if it's not possible, I don't know that and work around it and make it possible). However, I can't make anything with pistons, motors, or anything with moving parts. I tried before and had to make my friend do it. So I will be asking for help again once the building part starts. All I need is to be pointed in the right direction or put through a building class.

Attaboy! That's what I like to see - people trying to push back the boundaries of what they can achieve

I know a fair bit about logic / control systems but my skills with complex moving devices is limited.

Regardless of what you need help with, be it logic, thermo management, mechanical construction, design, gameplay... there will be plenty of people here that can and will help you out
