My new level is a breeze if you're heading for the scoreboard, but if you like the world you're visiting make sure to explore it for bubbles and work up a good high score!

http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv21/Kipmonlin/VanillaBreeze-01-1.jpg

I love making beautiful levels and I think I've created something unique looking with some intriguing special effects. It may look simple, but avid creators will understand what's going on and the factors combined to create the design and the vivid colors of the level.

The prizes in the level include a very round circle on the second cloud that creators may like.

Wow, I just got done playing through this. This level has awesome visuals. I like how it had an "icy" effect even though you didn't use glass. Beautiful level. You might wanna put arrows or something when you're floating up with the balloon. I can see players getting lost.
I gave :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3.

Nice gameplay and it was good to look at, even though the brightness did hurt my eyes a little. 5/5 and hearted.2009-08-04 05:36:00

This is a gorgeous level. Fantastic lighting effects and textures and patterns. It's like an even more psychedelic style than Jaeyden's Tye Dye level. Different in a lot of ways but the distortion and free roaming nature reminded me of Tye Dye a little bit - it's a good thing.

Really surprised it doesn't have more plays - it's fun although a bit tricky with more than 2 players. I loved it!

5 stars & hearted! Thanks for sharing it!

This is a beautiful level that I thought was a lot of fun to explore and play through. It has a very relaxed, languid feel to it and it was nice to explore and play around at my own pace without any timers or threats to contend with.

The lighting and color palette used is very soft and smooth, velvety, dreamlike quality to the level with a strong ice/snow theme. I liked the pinwheel, the hanging ball thing with the streamers on it and the different spinning wheels that you made with the straws for spokes.

The level was much longer that I anticipated from the screenshots and the initial game play and it was spread out over different paths to take such that it was a lot of fun to explore to find as many score bubbles as I could.

The strong lighting and strobe-ing effects that are present throughout the level wore on my eyes until I was happy to finish the level as I was starting to get a headache. (I had been playing for quite some time exploring everywhere.) The score bubbles are a bit hard to see in areas due to the lighting and I was squinting a lot to try and see them. (May just be my eyesight with this one or maybe I was just tired for the night.)

The giant angelic teddy bears were fun initially but there were so many of them throughout the level that it was a bit creepy to see them just standing there or slowly moving but that may also just be a personal issue.

There is a wheel with a wobbling gas ring inside that was very cool to watch as well as the undulating streamers that are around a bit toward the second half of the level. (Such as when swimming through the reeds with the fish.) They are striking visually as well as being very interesting from a creator-tech perspective.

Either way I?d say that this is a relaxing level for those wanting to have a change of pace from bombs, lasers and runaway cars.

Wonderful level, I love those abstract, quietly paced levels with stunning visuals.
Good use of glitched materials, great longevity due to multiple paths...GREAT

Thanks, I put few bubbles to entice players the right way instead of arrows.

Thank you for the review Trindall. Just what I wanted to hear! But I do love the cuddly bears myself.

You sure did!
This level looks gorgeous and is a blast to explore!
I love the smooth, abstract, mysterious, peacefull look of it.
I had a lot of fun when I played this, sadly enough i didn't had much time
Can't find much negative about it, besides that maybe it's a bit too bright (sometimes it's hard to see the bubbles).
You might want to put a "don't forget your sunglasses" warning in there

5 stars, beautiful tag and a well deserved heart! Will certainly play it again to get a better score!

coincidentally, right before i played this i was practicing riding on top of balloons in create mode. little did i know i was going to be rewarded so soon.

i thought the level looked great, if if id did kinda hurt to look at.
it was fun trying to collect the points, but they are really hard to see so i gave up eventually in some areas.

quote from roommate: "That's some in your face flower action!"

referring to the wildly spinning flowers on the balloon descent.

if you feel like returning feedback, please play Lost Ages: II.

heh, I thought I noticed some hi-rez curves.!

I liked just about every thing about this level. especially the smooth lines.

lots of interesting objects.

I only have a couple of minor points, and they really are minor. One is the section with the balloons. it seemed a little slow to me I started getting a Little impatient. maybe you could tie two balloons for more lift?. Like I said. really minor and it could have been just me.

The other thing is that I would have liked a little more variety in the look. While It's definitely a cool look and effect, it got a little hard to look at after a while. really great job.

one of my favorite features were the wavy lines that went past.

Funny you should happen by my F4F level when you did. I have just produced my first object with an object editing tool I'm working on. An accurate circle with 120 verticies.

I gave your level 5 stars and a heart.

I played this off cool pages this morning. My verdict?

Doctor, My Eyes!

PROS:

GREAT lighting effects.
Nicely designed point collection.
I loved the whole exploration aspect of the level - just when I thought I was lost I would realize I was in a totally different area.
Nice use of huge objects for effect.

CONS

Hmmm.... nothing comes to mind.

Great job - 5 stars and a heart from me.

Great lighting effects, though a bit blinding. Well done on the free roaming aspect, but I think I ended up at the scoreboard a bit quickly. I had a hard time actually seeing most of the bubbles so I think I kind of just walked myself closer to the finish sometimes. I liked the visual style you made, the whole level fit togther well. I liked that kind of....wobbly(?) circle you made I can't find the words to describe it. I think you used that with the water part as well. 5/5 and a heart.2009-08-09 01:19:00

When I played this, I really liked the colors and art style but since everything was so bright, I had a hard time knowing what to do. I made it to the part with the bear w/ wings, but I just couldn't figure out how to get passed that. I spent a good 5 minutes trying to climb up the winches but I eventually gave up. Everything up to that point was awesome (lol flying fish) and I was having lots of fun.

My only complaint was the part I just talked about. It got so annoying not knowing what to do.

Either way, I gave it:star::star::star::star::star: and a heart. If you could try Hectic Hallways, that'd be awesome.

Wow - what a beautiful level! Really loved the look you created, a proper feast for the eyes! However, like RicktheRipper, I also got stuck at the bear, not sure arrows would fit in with your level, but maybe a hint would be useful there!

I gave it :star::star::star::star::star: and enjoyed playing it!

If you fancy checking out my level Monster's Lair I'd be interested to hear any feedback you might have - although don't feel that you have to!

This level... Was, well, amazing.

These are the sort of levels I enjoy seeing, really artistic, and the sort of levels I wish I could make... Unfortunately I specialize in levels made of sponge, but I suppose I cant complain.

The start was my favourite part, the forest looking area. I think you achieved it by sticking the 3D decorations down. And just for the lols, I used the sticker remover tool to remove them, and found out you made stuff out of Sponge! Once more I am happy! The wolves at the beginning were great too.

If there's one thing I like it's weird and wonderful flowers, So I can say that I have drawn a lot of inspiration from this level! I liked how I could interact with them too.

The Clouds looked amazing, all pink and shiny and stuff. Shiny.... Oooo.

The fish part was awesome too.

-At this point I began to run out of things to comment on-

AH! Of course, one of the main features if this level was the lighting, and how it gives everything that nice glow. It just blends so beautifully.

Been the person who likes levels with many different explorable parts, I really enjoyed this concept in the level, been able to go many different ways gives me a reason to replay such a beautiful level.

And I'll finish off by commenting on the scoreboard... Wow...

I have to say, you've outdone yourself. Astonishing. I just played one of the greatest Visual Plethoras of Epicness I have ever seen.

:star::star::star::star::star: You definitely get an author heart, and a hug from a Beaver.

Woah, that was trippy! Your level reminded me of the early 90's when I would knock back a shroom brew and trance out with a Cyberdelia video. I don't know how you achieved such vivid and psychedelic visuals, but I'm impressed, and I really liked how you used clouds of sinister black gas to create a contrast against the light and wispy feel of the scenery. This level is essentially an interactive work of art.

Gameplay wise, I really enjoyed this. I'm a butterfingers on the joypad and I'm not a big fan of long, tough platforming sections where you die a million times before progressing, but this was a nice, relaxing level to breeze through (no pun intended). At some points it felt almost like I was playing Flower, which isn't a bad thing in my book. I also liked the multi-route element which allows for good replay value. (I played twice and had a different experience each time). I almost had to give up near the end though, since I couldn't see where to go when I reached the giant, retina-melting teddy bear. After about 20 minutes of going up, down and around in circles, I finally backtracked to where the balloons drift upwards and figured that it was the way forward.

Mechanics wise I encountered no problems, except for the big pink fish which initially refused to move. After a few minutes of grappling with this, it eventually drifted off to the right and took me where I was supposed to go, but for a while I thought it was either broken or that I wasn't meant to fly it after all.

Anyway...a very cool level. I gave you a 5-star rating, a "relaxing" tag and a heart.

This is one of the most visually enticing levels I have ever seen. I loved everything about it, from the icy blue lighting to the smooth curves of your object. Really great stuff here. I was especially enthralled by the warbling lights around the scoreboard and inside the circle near the wolf cutouts. Again, really great stuff here.

I guess I can see what other people mean about the level not having a lot of direction, but I don't really expect a level like this too anyways. It wasn't a problem that I noticed but it can be really frustrating to play a level that you love but not have any clue where to go. This level deserves great reviews and great scores, so if you could think of some way to better guide people I think it would be worth it. I wouldl put up arrow or anything, but perhaps a trail of pink flowers or something like that. I dunno...

Anyways, I loved the level as is!

As far as the F4F thing goes, I would really appreciate it if you gave my new level "The Adventures of the Prince: Chapter 1 The Attack" a try. The link to my thread is found by clicking my signature.

Ok! without looking at too many of the other posts before me, I'd like to dive right into the review... I don't have a laptop, so I wrote down what I liked, and ran to my desktop in the other room...

LIKES:
* Visuals (Bears, Fish, Colors, Spinning Flowers)
* Exploring and point collecting
* Balloon sequences in the 2nd half...

DISLIKES:
* some minor gameplay gripes in first half...not much though, since I was too busy running to the right and riding the wheels while staring at the wonderful colors! (just would have liked to have seen more multi-path or puzzle elements, but seriously its perfect just the way it is)

* the gas at the end - I had to backtrack once at the very end cause i thought the gas would kill me...'till I examined it more closely and decided that was the only way left to go...not a big deal. (just threw me off for a sec)

other than that, can't find anything to complain about...its a wonderful level, and I loved the part with the small wheels and 3 ballons over the bridge...had to think about where the bubbles would be hiding (far right), and where the correct path was (ride up on the ballons). Nice Job & thx for your feedback on the Vector series!

Ok, so I finished the level this time. Not sure why I got stuck before, it seemed obvious where I had to go when you said! hehe. Really liked the level - I noticed even more 2nd time round that I liked - it's just a really crazy beautiful level.

The only thing I would say is that the fish seemed to keep snagging, and seemed quite slow. It might have just been my connection or something, but other than that had a great time playing!

Great level!

This seems to be the biggest problem with the level. I took for granted that players know balloons are grabable. I don't want arrows, speech-bubbles or an R1 symbol in the level. I want it to be abundantly clear what you're supposed to do.

I wanted the level to be very unchallenging and relaxing but when I play it with people they're just running as fast as they can. I made the level as attractive in my eyes as I could and there are no baddies chasing you. Stop and look for a moment I want to tell them. I am most satisfied when someone asks how I did something or simply types in "wow" .

The fish has a grab switch to trigger a piston but the object is only grabable in the back half so this can be a bit of a hassle for players if they first grab the front part and nothing happens.

I am considering including an option for changing the global controls in an update soon.

Big thanks for all feedback and comments so far. I still have time for doing feedback so more requests are welcome.

Awesome level. Played it with misty today. Lot's of really cool ideas and the look & feel of your effects was stellar. Will be playing it again solo tonight for sure. A couple parts were kind of tricky in multiplayer, but this was the camera's fault..not your's. Thanks for the circle BTW. Great prize. :star::star::star::star::star:2009-08-25 03:32:00

That lighting is unbelievable.

No idea you how you did it but it's mad. I really like the abstract stuff you used, the neon teddy bears and the fish seem almost Dali-esque in this light. Great choice of materials and objects too, all adding to the dreamy quality this has. Very nice!

Thanks for giving feedback on A Journey.

Here is my feedback for this level:

Oh, bloom!!! My eyes! I can't see!

Seriously though while I personally didn't like the art style too much I can see people loving it. For me it's too much bloom. But it is something different and that is good.
At times I wasn't sure where to go, specifically at the first wheel thing that has a price bubble at it's centre and the section where you have to grab the balloons. At first I thought you had to use the spinning circles to fling you up, but that didn't work obviously. In the end I figured out that I had to track back to the place where the three balloons rise up. After that it was pretty clear how to proceed though.

Anyway, overall it is a pretty good level and I gave it four stars for uniqueness and abstractness.

Just one question; When you are holding on the winged fish you fly passed a wave pattern. How did you do that? It looks great!

Hi kipmonlin!
Got to play Vanilla Breeze tonight and so here's my feedback:

Visually stunning. I, personally, had never seen anything like it before and so while, like some others, the intensity hurt my eyes at times it was still completely fascinating to watch. The gas effects were really hypnotic. The blossom twigs at the start were so different despite the fact I've seen them used in so many other levels, but the scale is always about the same. Being oversized was visually refreshing and added a nice touch of surrealism. And all the spinning flowers with their dangly bits were lovely : ) The teddies were not really of any visual consequence or interest for me, but if you love them, go for it. (Perhaps one of the downsides of feedback forums is that we can bog ourselves down in pleasing others and lose the essence of what pleases US!)

It had a nice, restful palette and it certainly fit with the name. Perhaps a little change in the palette at some point would increase the visual interest further? But certainly not necessary.

The prize bubbles were awesome and much appreciated! I tired a little with trying to collect points as they were so hard to see at times, but they did guide you in the general right direction. I was a bit confused in the area where I climbed the spinning discs... i thought that they - or perhaps the balloons tethered to the ground - would lead to the next part of the level, but the balloons just seemed to get tangled in the flowers, etc that hung over the bear and the discs led to that same area - as far as I could tell. I couldn't move on until i went back to the bridge and hitched a ride on one of those balloons. I could've just got that completely wrong, of course, but that was my experience. If I missed something there, let me know.

Your choice of materials was really well thought out, very atmospheric - and cleverly put together. I really loved the undulating shape of the whole environment... made it feel fluid and dream-like. i don't think there was a straight edge or right angle in the entire thing and that was ace! That circle did a great job as I find the facets of the default circle shape in the general tool kit to be a little frustrating.

This is the first level of yours that i have played and I will certainly play the others. Thanks for the time and effort you put into creating something so different and enjoyable. I gave it 5 stars!

I had a lot of fun with this. The visuals are very cool and I absolutely love some of the effects that you created. The pulsating ring thing is awesome.

The obstacles where simple, but a lot of fun! I felt like I was in a playground and could choose where I wanted to go and how I wanted to play.

Fun level! Nice job.

Just played your level. That was quite an experience! It was really trippy but in a dreamlike way. The visuals were astounding, the way u used decorations was great! The lightning was also a great touch! The level played great too as a simple relaxed explore. It's really nice to have those kinds of levels as a break between heavy storys and bomb survival... All in all I really enjoyed this level and look forward to more from you!

Hey Kipmonlin,

I think my eyes aren't working right anymore! I don't know what to add other than what has been said already, it really is a sumptuous, surrealistic feast! I found myself sort of gazing slack-jawed at the screen at several points before I realized that it was probably time to move on. I liked the pacing and, of course, the hypnotic design of the whole thing. There were a couple points at which I was unsure of what direction to go, and the balloons did rise more slowly than I wanted them too - my frustration level rose a bit because there were larger balloons blocking my way! I had to ride the fish twice because I missed a checkpoint... but that wasn't so bad

All in all it's a remarkable achievement. I realize the effort that must have gone in to this, and I appreciate it greatly,

Hi Kipmonlin.

First of all: thank you very much for playing my "The Talocan" level - I appreciate your great feedback very much!

Well, I had the chance to play your level and what can I say that not has been said?

My first impression was " WOW - what a unique style" - I have to admit that I love every approach of creating a level, that's fresh and new and has something really unique in it. And, yeah, your level has this distinctiveness!!!!

The blue-styled visual is a really eyecatcher and I love to run arround in your creation. It's like pulling me into a far away fantasy-land - awesome. And to interact with all the stuff (the little pin wheels, the big wheels where you can jump into, the balloon where you can jump on to elevate yourself....) is really pure fun to me!!!

What I would suggest to elevate your level to an even higher level of art: maybee a storyline that fits perfectly into your level would be awesome in my view.

I gave your level "only" :star::star::star::star: due to the fact that I would love to see a story-line that put this level together because without that I feel a bit lost in this world, just don't knowing "why" I am here ^^ - this would be (and that's a no-brainer to me) a clear 5-star-level to me with a mystic or even funny background story - but of course I gave a heart for this one - it's just brilliant in style !!! Great job Kipmonlin... Keep up the good work!!!

Hey Kipmonlin!

Vanilla Breeze contains great shapes, and beautiful decoration (i love the beads and flowers). Also some of the light effects are amazing (the floaty circle-thing... how did you do that??) and I LOVE the flying fish.

The only thing which I didn't really like ( I know that this is just my personal taste) were those extreme light'n'contrast-effects. I prefer levels more "natural".

But. Great Work. I'll have an eye on your upcoming levels.

One of the most spectacular levels I have ever played. Ambience driven, fun and relaxing. Five stars and a heart from me.2009-10-15 23:46:00

Thanks for playing my two train levels and for the feedback.

Played Vanilla Breeze today, I have to say that I have never played an LBP level like it. Some very clever trickery to get the kind of effects you have produced. That said, I can't say they were all to my taste- I found them a bit too garish in places. Overall a nice level to play, some great point-combo potential which always hits the spot with me. I also had a quick look at some of your other work too, I shall try them in more depth soon as they look nice too.
