LBP GOTY Edition

Archive: 26 posts

Did a search and and haven't found anything.

LBP will have a game of the year edition out this winter.

It will contain most of the DLC so far including Ghostbusters.

I'm guessing that it will be missing the T-shirt and other limited DLC's. I also think that it might not have anything past Ghostbusters.

What, so you purchase the game AND they give you the DLC? That seems a bit harsh on us who've been forking out individual installments for the DLC and have been with them since the beginning 2009-08-03 16:02:00

It's the new way things work, we used to have game then platinum re-release now its game, several dlc packs, goty/ultimate edition with dlc bundled then a platinum version of the goty edition.

It's a brilliant stratagy because people will buy the game at launch for 40 quid then pay something around 80 quid over the following year on the dlc then they can grab new owners with the value added edition. It's what I'm doing with Fallout 3 so I can't complain.

i hope the release a dlc bundle to buy. I only bought the metal gear and monster pack. If they bundle all the dlc up to date when that edition is released i would buy that dlc bundle. As they cant keep the old DLC price up forever, as it is way over priced. Even at original game price look how much you got for your original $60 (MM levels, original materials, stickers, and access to all User levels). Your second $60 you got a handfull metal gear levels +paintinator create access, a couple of new backgrounds, a few new music/ sound items, and a very small amount of new materials, and a crap load of useless stickers, and costumes.

oh and i saw LBP for sale at costco for 30 bucks a couple of weeks ago (dont know if that was there perminent new price or if they where just trying to clear it out of there enventory for shelf space for new releases).

It's not harsh at all. It's a nice option. This incitate people that didn't buy the game yet. Those people never encouraged the product anyways so this is for some easy money and will help the community grow, have longer legs. This is good for you because it gives more chances for this game to be supported for a longer time.

I doubt it will be ALL DLC, most likely just the major packs and some costumes and stickers. I find it highly unlikely that MediaMolecule would dump all of their hard work into one package. This is a little different than what Fallout 3 is doing because Fallout only has a few individual packs, not 100s of items.2009-08-04 14:06:00

Obviously wild speculation but I'd imagine they'd put a fair bit in there. I guess it comes down to how much money sony think they will make from selling the GOTY ed + additional sales from future DLC - lost sales from packaged DLC.

DLC cost per item is negligable. If it gets an extra sale on the game and extra sales on future DLC then the result is profit, regardless of how much DLC gets packaged up.

Thanks for posting that, but does anyone know off-hand how much all of the DLC costs, including costumes, sticker packs, medium packs, and the MGS pack?

Probably quite a lot...$30 probably isn't that much of it. I'm guessing it'll include the MGS pack, monster kit, history pack...maybe some of the '4 costumes + stickers' packs. And of course, new DLC yet to be announced.2009-08-07 11:24:00

$1000 dollars is over $30...

$30 isn't actually that much when you think about it... Maybe they won't put in the MGS and the Monsters / history packs. Then newbies buy all the bonus DLC, but then find out they haven't got the DLC worth buying so they go out and buy more. That would be mean.

Hmm odd.. I think it's unfair to those who recently just bought LBP and bought DLC's.. Including me.. I just got the game last week and bought more than 20$ of DLC. And LBP is still full retail price in stores :|.

I guess the good thing is that we got a head start when it come to level making and using our DLC's..

Well I might get that version, I bought LBP for 80$ + tax.
And already, my data is corrupt.

Anyways, what's the difference on that?

You probably turned off your ps3 at the wrong time.
Happened to me on MGS4. Sometimes it pops up then I had to quit the game and play the game back, and my save data and everything returns to normal.

Not sure about LBP though, good luck about that.

True, I'm lazy to save the level, go back to pod, quit the game, turn off the system..2009-08-12 06:38:00
