Character question

I'm making a level, which involves several characters, but I can't decide whether or not to actually make the character, or just use take a picture of my sackboy and cut it out, which do you think looks better? | 2009-08-03 05:00:00 Author: L0l_L0l- Posts: 139 |
Well...taking a picture of your Sackboy and cutting it out is basically making your own. Sounds like a viable approach to me, and it will be unique. | 2009-08-03 05:24:00 Author: RickRock_777 Posts: 1567 |
I personally think that funny/cool Do-It-Yourself characters are good, that YOU made, and that aren't bad -.-" (i.e circle with a face... not originaly) | 2009-08-03 05:30:00 Author: SlinkDewar Posts: 70 |
Personally, I like the look of custom characters when they are done right. I'm no good at it though . I guess it depends on what you are good at. If you struggle with making models, then I would suggest doing a cutout. I would advise against using the story mode characters. | 2009-08-03 05:31:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
Sackperson cutouts look quite good I think, I had one in an older level (now deleted). After you've cut it out it might look good to put decorations on it like eyes and stuff like that. Depends what type of level you're making though but it will certainly cut down on the thermometer. | 2009-08-03 05:33:00 Author: S-A-S--G-U-N-R Posts: 1606 |
Well, if you want to conserve space, use sackboy cutouts. If you want to go all out, use customs. Either way, you'll end up with a neat looking character. | 2009-08-03 05:45:00 Author: Outlaw-Jack Posts: 5757 |
Oh and if you are going to use cut-outs, make a costume for your sackboy/sackgirl before you cut out the picture. a costume that goes along with you theme, like a cowboy for a western theme. Not "Joe The Space Invader" in a cave exploration level XD (unless the cave is on the moon of course ^-^) | 2009-08-03 05:48:00 Author: SlinkDewar Posts: 70 |
I threw these together real quick to show what I'm going for. Out of these two, what's better | 2009-08-03 05:59:00 Author: L0l_L0l- Posts: 139 |
Out of those two options, I would use a cutout, however the thing with cutouts is that they cannot move and don't seem lifelike. A trick I would use is to make a cutout and then make parts (arms, legs, body) the same shapes as the cutout's parts and use it on a custom cardboard character. | 2009-08-03 06:30:00 Author: pocoroo Posts: 14 |

Thanks, I'll do that. | 2009-08-03 06:42:00 Author: L0l_L0l- Posts: 139 |
