Space Escape *** Spotlighted!!! ***jwwphotos http://www.jwwwebdesign.com/photos/LBP/SpaceEscape/A%20Photo.jpgWhile in stasis for the return trip home, your ship has been collected by an alien spacecraft for scrap. Your only chance of survival is to get off the ship, but the ship's automated pest control system doesn't seem to like you. (1 - 2 player suggested, but 4 can manage via co op) all This was a wacky idea I had one day that started with a gun turret and ended up being an entire level! The story developed along the way as I worked a path backward to figure out where the beginning was and answer the question.. now how the heck did I get here? Difficulty medium with a few challenges as well as some secrets. Two of which many of you have as they are the LBPC sticker and object! Many thanks to Morgana25, CCubbage, GrantosUK, Poms, julesyjules, Killian, RickRock__777, and mrsupercomputer for their suggestions and play testing. You folks are all so awesome and I do so appreciate the kindness you extended to me. All fonts were created by me except for the words Coming Soon which I have to thank Lite_Sleeper for his fonts. I also have to thank him for his color creator level for the custom colors used. Hope you enjoy it as much as I had creating it. New!! Review by YouTube - Lbp - Space Escape by Jwwphotos (PART 1) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmaFdj_M_YA&feature=related) (aka asmasheduppumpkin5 on youtube) Here are few pics.. Looks pretty good. I'll check it out. | 2009-08-01 21:07:00 Author: keell Posts: 69 |
Woah, that looks pretty darn interesting... I'll definately play this and give you my thoughts! | 2009-08-01 21:17:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
I liked it a lot. Story reminded me of Aliens. | 2009-08-01 21:44:00 Author: keell Posts: 69 |
Played it and loved it. You've made some small changes since you showed it to me last, but the level looks great. It's nothing too challenging, but definitely not a cake walk. I think I found all of the hidden stuffs, and found a place I think you should put one more hidden thing: Right after the conveyor section, you can pull one of the chunks of material over to the left and actually get up on the second ledge above. I was expecting to find something up there, but was saddened to learn there wasn't anything...or did I miss it? The dialogue throughout was quite humorous, as were some of the little scripted moments (chicken on a rope). I also really enjoyed the little automated mop-buckets. Call me crazy, but they were probably my favorite part of the level, haha (not to take anything away from the rest of it). It really put me over the edge when one of them was cleaning the text at the very end. There were other parts I enjoyed, but mostly I was impressed with the little fun things throughout the level (rocket jump platforms, rocket lifts, paintinator sleds, ziplines, etc.). The only thing I would've liked to see is a little indicator at the end telling me how many of the "health packs" I found. Maybe a prize for finding them all? Granted, most of them were pretty easy, but you could even add in a few more that are hard to get to - everyone loves hidden stuff. Anyways, :star::star::star::star::star: and hearted. Thanks for sharing. Edit: to above poster - to me it seemed like a mix between aliens and the potential to be a bit like Portal. Evil computer AI in control of the ship, ftw? | 2009-08-01 21:47:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
This level is REALLY fun - fantastic platforming, challenging. This is definately your best level yet.... even if it doesn't end up being your most popular (it's hard to beat a page 1 highest rated racer ). PROS + Electric Mop buckets! + LOVED the hanging part where you time drop to the next grabby thing + Very polished + Humor - "THIS looks safe...." - loved it. + Fantastic paintinator design. CONS - This isn't really a CON, but the platforms that push you up into the air really fast - just be aware on 2 player this mechanic, although VERY cool, may fail in multi player lag. 5 stars (if they registered....) and a heart - great job! | 2009-08-01 21:50:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
This was a really awesome level with that Jww humor we all have grown to love! + Yep, those Mop Buckets + The chicken wing + Paintinator race + The chicken wing + Great platforming + The chicken wing + Good looking and yet lenghty + The chicken wing + The jump-cart + The chicken wing + Lots of hidden secrets + The chicken wing - As that loveable fish mentioned above me, the rocketplatforms can get tricky in multiplayer - Sequel is not published yet Gave it 5 stars, hearted it and tagged it "Hilarious" - | 2009-08-01 22:22:00 Author: Zwollie Posts: 2173 |
Hi jww Wow, what a refreshingly different level! I really enjoyed it, and the humour was something to behold. Great fun this, and I will recommend it to all my friends. Nice work, and well done. 5* and hearts from me. | 2009-08-01 22:39:00 Author: LBP--Sentinel Posts: 31 |
Hi there. If I time the jump at the right time on the last rocket jump thing, I can see your logikz . I even managed to nab the top spot! | 2009-08-01 23:06:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
I had the pleasure of beta testing this level and I really love all the improvements you have made. The level offers a great balance of sci-fi story and humor as well as lots of gameplay variety. There is platforming, paintinator challenges, various enemies, a race, a zipline, etc. Lots of fun stuff packaged into this level! I think my favorite thing about the level is the mopping robots. Simple, hilarious, and well done. Using the vehicle to reach higher ground was very cool as was the rest of the ship. I did have a bit of trouble with the conveyor section. The debris kept clogging my way out, which made for a frustrating couple of minutes. The boss was very cool and I think you managed to get the plasma shots timed about right. I know that I had criticized that during the beta, but they felt more fair during this run. Especially with the last two enemies. Great job! EDIT: OH! I forgot to mention the chicken wing! Hilarious! | 2009-08-01 23:13:00 Author: mrsupercomputer Posts: 1335 |

Glad you enjoyed the improvements. Most honored you like it! After you played it with me I felt I had to dig some places for some surprises. ..though I never thought of putting one there where you suggested! I am at the top with thermo, but if I can squeeze it in.. I will though I hate to change the top score ratio. This level is REALLY fun - fantastic platforming, challenging. Thanks much! Means quite a bit to me that you enjoyed it! ...actually the mop buckets were my girlfriends idea.. imagine her surprise when I had pics printed off the internet of some mop buckets. The emer lifts are pretty hard with multiplayer I think I coulda made them weaker, but if two are on it, they don't even move when tuned down.. argh. Managing it with 4 players, but it is possible, just not the easiest due to the game camera angle. I don't set one there as you can't go that wide. Oh well.. lessons learned on scale on devices to sack ratios! Thanks again for the help! I loved putting that in there. I was laughing the entire time to the point I dropped the controller a few times. I think that is that roadrunner coyote influence as a boy. Thanks so much!! I am so happy you enjoyed. Your wit and humor is always so steller, so I am glad that it made you laugh. Hi jww Wow, what a refreshingly different level! Glad you enjoyed! I had such a blast doing this one. Hi there. If I time the jump at the right time on the last rocket jump thing, I can see your logikz . I even managed to nab the top spot! Yeah.. dang it.. I had a camera on that top ledge to help avoid that, but a really perfect timed jump will launch you a mile. I had one other buddy do that while I was testing and thought uh oh.. I might be able to rig a housing around it that it would emit behind without having to recapture them in the emitters.. Wish you could just bring it up and inspect without redefining. oh well.. Thanks so much.. It means so much to me to hear that knowing how amazing your levels are! I learned quite a bit from them as well as all those that helped me test. You folks are my heroes!! I may rethink that debris a bit and possibly slow it down. It is kinda wacky timing as it either is way too much or hardly at all. I should have built logic to control the emitters as I could control it much easier... oh well.. another lesson learned. Thanks again for all your help!! | 2009-08-02 00:07:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
hi jww! Just played your level, and here's what I thought... Oh yes! What an absolutely brilliant level this is - great looks, great structure, and lots of fun! I loved the storyline and the 'space' setting. I loved the First Aid stations, and how they spat out bubbles. I loved the humour throughout the level too, very funny in places. It was an enjoyable mix of platforming and shooting, and the mopping/sweeping robots were genious. I also thought the chicken bait was hilarious. Overall, my feeling is that this is something I just HAVE to mention to my online friends. My score was the only disappointment (I'm a competitive little so-and-so!), so I will need to revisit. 11th place is no good to me! lol Well done. Great, enjoyable, funny level. 5* and hearted. Tagged with 'Brilliant'. | 2009-08-02 00:53:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |

I had such an incredible good time creating this wacky little adventure and so glad you enjoyed playing. ...however your score being a disappointment cannot compare to the disappointment of my score on your new level!!! I will need to improve a bit more as well as leave my comments on your thread. Thanks again! <insert warm and fuzzy feeling here!> | 2009-08-02 01:10:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
I don't know what I could say that hasn't been said above... this is Just a Really terrific experience. I had a little trouble with the trash conveyor as well. First because the text box hit right when I landed on the belt and then the trash got jammed up in front and I kept slipping down to the charged bits...BUT since I knew I had infinite life at that point, no real problemo at all! And so, I managed to Bear up under my mediocre skills and pull (in this case push) through! each task was well rewarded in it's own fashion. Very nice. I hearted this level, tagged it "great", gave it 5 stars, and commented that any-one giving it less than 4 was a poo-head. | 2009-08-02 01:13:00 Author: swanbrown Posts: 898 |

Sorta like opening night at a movie. hey... no popcorn!? Yeah.. I might slow the conveyor debris down a bit. Just a touchy part as it seems to be feast or famine as I didn't consider the emitters proximity to each other and I think they stall the timing a bit. In play testing it seemed weak so I upped it a touch and got what I though a decent mix. Whoops.. I may have to revisit. Thanks so much for the comments. I will try your other level you have asap, but probably more like tomorrow as my girlfriend now has the controller and might whack me with it if I attempt to snag it back after commanding it so much these past few months. She at least lets me log in to check my level and any messages!! Take care! | 2009-08-02 01:21:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Ha ha, jww! It's so true about considering partners in all this. Oh dear, my husband, Spookybuz, is trying to grab the keyboard off me - I apologise in advance for anything he might say... Hi Jww, nice level that was. Well done! Tell your good lady partner to fly over here and join me, and I promise to pack MrsSB off to you and we can have a 'LBP Wife Swap'! I promise, in the name of the Queen, there'll be no 'funny business'! I will simply let your good lady enjoy REAL LIFE for a change! Ya know, eating, drinking, walking around! Ooh, the BOSS wants the keyboard back, see ya! I am so sorry about that (it's MrsSpookyBuz again!). My hubby is lovely, but he's got this habit of thinking there's real life out there! lol. Anyway, I'll leave you in peace now. | 2009-08-02 01:39:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
Since I had the pleasure to have an enlightening conversation with you about jewish photography, and loved the humor that you seemed to put in every paragraph, and taking in account that everybody is praising the humour in this level -something that I love in levels- I'll make sure to give it a try when I can get to a PS3, and give you proper feedback. Oh, and even if I hasn't see the level for real, I can tell, by just the screenshots that it looks polished and neat, with the exact amount of detail, IMO. Now I'm eager about it! | 2009-08-02 02:01:00 Author: Keldur Posts: 628 |

Great level man... alot of fun, creative space adventure. Didn't take itself too seriously, and gave it just the right kind of sci-fi feel because of it. Alot of cool looking stuff, lots of variety. The look was really loose, and gave it a space junker look that was just right for the theme. I can't give you alot feedback, because I don't really have any complaints. Great stuff. | 2009-08-02 03:44:00 Author: Unknown User |

I wish I could make good levels like what you can! Haven't got to the end of it yet. In case you don't already know I can't control my unruly sackperson (Little Icey). I do intend to keep trying because I LOVE this level. It looks goooood! Nice work jww. Oh and if those mops get me thirteen or fourteen more times I'm going to wipe the floor with them! Hey, I'm out for the weekend but I'll play this final version as soon as I get home tonight. Just to say thanks for choosing me for beta tester, I hope my "overcritical" impressions helped some way xDD, and I agree with someone who said it reminds an "Alien" atmosphere in this level. The final beta was great... and you'll get another 5 stars and heart... tonight! Congrats for your level my friend, I wish you a lot of luck with it PD. Wouldn't it have been better to wait till the non-rating problem was solved to publish? | 2009-08-02 14:41:00 Author: poms Posts: 383 |

I guess though in LBP, that translates to fun. Thanks again and if you need help, just add me and I will escort you past the nasty things! Wouldn't it have been better to wait till the non-rating problem was solved to publish? Thanks Poms! I'm not sure you saw the final version or not.. The last few changes were adding quite a few music tracks, a few more lighting tweaks, plugging a few holes around the scoreboard that dropped you down to play amongst my lettering! Your criticle eye was really a huge help! It was a huge honor to beta test Mircle of Life for you and especially after seeing it, I would have been a complete idiot not to have your input on this one!! Thanks again and please say hello to your daughter for me. Hope she likes this one too! ..oh about the ratings issue? Yeah.. I wrestled with that for awhile, but ended up I was too excited not to share this with everyone. Take care! | 2009-08-02 16:33:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Hi again jww! I told you I would mention your level to my PSN friends. Some of them aren't members here, so here's a few additional comments for you! Hope you don't mind... One said: "insanely brilliant - superb fun and always involving." Another said: "Jeeesus! That was a *bleeping* *bleeping* awesome level." And finally, one said: "The only thing missing was a pint of beer!" (No, I don't get it either - I have some strange friends)! Cheers mate | 2009-08-02 18:46:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |

Great level, very funny, and very smooth gameplay wise. I loved the little yellow robots with the (thing to wash the floor, sorry, I don't remember now it's English name ). For the nitpicking moment I have to say that the 2 boss battles have a prospective that fails your eye to understand on which plane you're going to get it, especially the one with the flying sentries, since on the other one you can get hints from the different color of the plasma balls. 5 stars for ya! | 2009-08-02 20:53:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |

Ahhh yes, the automated yellow mop buckets. Every home should have one! Hmmm.. maybe that is the rest of the story?!!? LOL! Thanks so much for the comments and so happy you enjoyed! I can appreciate the nitpik.. I wrestled with that myself. Did you feel the angle was too wide or the zone wasn't large enough? I know that with 4 players it can be a pain if one lags behind. I actually thought of using the color coding again for the last set, but didn't since I was using that more for the main gun turret defense. I felt the bug zappers are more separate entities even though they show up in a pack. I also wanted to have them more like they were dive bombing you as so many bosses (not that I consider these a boss) are above you and you have to shoot straight up more 2d than 2.5. I thought a different angle would not only add to the challenge, but showcase the big huge star map as well as give it more of a 3d feel. ..but perhaps a bit too wide. Great thoughts!! Thanks again!! Love hearing all the different perspectives of my insanity, brought forth in the format of a LBC level!! | 2009-08-02 22:57:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Hey! You're level is really nice. I must be LBP addicted or something but I can't really find apparent flaws in this one. It's simple, fun, original enough to be interesting. I must admit that "temple" and "space" theme are really tiring and overused but somewhat you knew how to make it feel fresh enough so i'm not bored! Pros: -Ennemis (love the bucket ennemi with the mop) -Your vehicule is awesome. (the "bip" sound when on reverse sold me) -Nice color and deco (reminds me Wall-E !!) -I love the grab platforms right before the conveyor. -I like the principle of "grab and receive bubbles". It's more fun than only collecting them. I shall use this more in my levels I guess. -Paint propulsed sliders!!! omg this was awesome. Never seen anything like that. Cons (ok, not really): -I got out of the level (see pictures attached) It's possible to climb there by the flying black things... . | 2009-08-03 00:25:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |

I saw a pic that someone uploaded where the were standing on the ground.. I wondered how they got there. Dang.. I may have to pull that upper piece or move it a bit. So did you get there from swinging on one of the yellow things, or crawl up the spaceship remains? Thanks so much for your comments as well as your help! I still have yet to replay your sacks on the beach to complete your level and finish my review, but my girlfriend only allows me 10 minutes every once in awhile to check progress etc.. !! So I may have to wait till she goes to bed!! Thanks again! | 2009-08-03 00:42:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |

There's a even a "grab for bubbles sphere" on the left side of the ship's debris. Anyhow, you have sort of flying robots right beside the ship. You step on them and voila! Hey it's cool you enjoyed dying in Crazy Train. I so wanted to make a level that is hard but not cheap! jw...so much better than the Beta buddy. Before I speak my piece...Space Escape was an awesome level. It is obvious to me the stage of this level was designed by a a very caring and insightful individual. Your attention to detail from the background thin layer to the uniquely crafted objects was masterful, and I was saddened when i saw the scoreboard to the right when the elevator was approaching the top level. Space Escape was an explorer's dream, with all the hidden areas and surfaces just in reach of a well timed jump by Sacky. The variety of enemies were very well balanced for increasing difficulty. My favorite parts were the missile shaft with the conveyored metal debris, the section where you swing through the plasma columns, and the 3-layer sentry attack where the sentries are intermittently protected by the moving panels and the effect of the glowing plasma energy below them. In summary, I thoroughly enjoyed Space Escape, rated this level 5-Stars and gave a well deserved Heart for this masterpiece. To pay homage, I played it twice, so my name would appear among the distinguished names in the Top 10--statistically interesting that LBPC members dominated. Bravo! Well Done! I'll be in statis while waiting for Part 2 to be published...please wake me when it's ready. Rick | 2009-08-03 02:48:00 Author: RickRock_777 Posts: 1567 |

I am so honored that you enjoyed and think of my level as fondly as it has grown on me. So sorry the scoreboard came before the end of the story, but as you once told me.. 2+ bars of thermo and not to the end yet? Well.. yeah.. I knew it was a dream if I achieved and I gave it a shot, but couldn't make my end battle fit along with what I had hoped would be the escape. ..at least I think there is an escape.. it's in the title!! ..but hey.. I have a whole nuther level to have you find that out! So I blew the rest of the thermo on decoration and the closing credits!! Thanks again for the play testing help and let me know if I can return the favor! | 2009-08-03 03:27:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Played the level. Oddly enough, I didn't realize that it was on the Cool Pages until you announced that it was in this thread. The style of the title made me think of the "Space Chickens" series, but the actual level is much more. Okay, you're in a weird salvaging ship, and you want out. Simple enough for me. First thing I noticed was the attention to detail. Very clean and easy on the eyes. Felt like "Spacecruiser" but with a more simple look. I never got why the turning-flashy-sled things were there, but that added to the overall simple and "spacey" look. Another thing I thought was cool were the enemies. They reminded me of all of the little drones you would've faced in the Bunker, only with personality. A electrified-mop-wielding-cleaning device? Psha. A spastic sentry bot? Definitely. A three-layered pest detector... now we're in deep dooky. Even ones that weren't really enemies at all (I mean you, Mr. Missleshaftthingy) really caught me off guard when I wasn't pay attention, adding difficulty to the gameplay. The sliding section, to me, could've been more refined, since some players may get confused on when to grab and when to switch off. Also, there wasn't anything real interesting other than it's just a zipline in that section, so perhaps incorporate more lights and/or scenery? But other than that, the level was grand in a general aspect. In all, I gave it a 4/5 and tagged it "Beautiful". This level has clearly intruiged me (and my awful ranking makes me wanna go at it again). At the end, I'm left knowing this: If the first is this good, then the second will be even greater (hopefully! ) . | 2009-08-03 05:01:00 Author: Outlaw-Jack Posts: 5757 |

At the end, I'm left knowing this: If the first is this good, then the second will be even greater (hopefully! ) . Thanks Jack! Glad you had fun! The turny weird orange things were just background scenery.. sort of a futurestic Craftman tool chest if you will. ..and if that explanation doesn't quite help you, I will make something else up! I actually had a ton of smoke etc during the zip line swap that made it look pretty darn cool, but I think there must be a limit to the amount of rockets or possibly due to it having the thermo pegged, they just never did work! I later removed them to save a bit of space for other decoration. I thought of possibly adding moving sequence lights or some other surrounding foreground or background detail, but seemed to be confusing enough for folks so I left it as is. Once you play it a few times.. it isn't too hard, but I do like forcing folks sight forward as that 2nd one picks up speed. Sort of a warm friendly sort of evil. Just had a play through this after I saw it on quite a few hearted pages and I loved what I saw. It really felt huge and open, but it was always obvious where you were meant to go. That's impressive in itself because of the lack of arrows or anything similar. The scale was just right for me and I liked the ways you'd given the player to get up to various levels. The story was also very nice - and the enemies were beleiveable! Those mopping up enemies were top class! Five stars and a heart from me - this level is great | 2009-08-03 13:33:00 Author: Coxy224 Posts: 2645 |

Glad you enjoyed it! ...actually there are arrows in several places! Just very very subtle..almost subliminal! I used the Proceed sticker from the Killzone pack on those purple thin layer plaques as well as on the vehicle itself. The rest of the level is pretty intuitive as there is either no other way to go for example after the huge multi color plasma turret. Yellow things flying up sorta is a easy notion... I also used yellow on all the grabby things to draw your eye. Sort of a warm a friendly "Grab me"! ...though minus any actual text! Thanks again! The mopping robots, the chicken drumstick (made me lol), the paint powered sled, it's these sort of touches that make a level stand out for me. Really enjoyed it again, the humour and the variety of the platforming were both great, and the ending makes me look forward to the sequel. Great stuff! | 2009-08-03 14:40:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |

Your levels have made me smile and laugh from day one. Knowing that I was able to return the favor of humour wrapped around silly stuff to jump around and play on, makes me really happy. Thanks so much for your kind words as well as the the play testing. Tis an honor and a pleasure. I've been out of town for a few days but was thrilled to come back to find this had been published! I loved it from day 1 but all the small changes and details make it even better imo. I love that everywhere you look on your level you've payed attention to lighting, texture, color, movement and gameplay. There's just so much to see and do and all of it is fun! For me a few things really stick out as excellent work + mop and bucket enemies = genius (you owe your lady ) + the dark blue boxes with the planet like motifs are beautiful + The chicken leg bait = hilarious! + rocket launching platforms are awesome + paintinator powered sled race is cool + your 1st and 2nd set of "boss" bots - love the attack pattern and design. Perfect balance of gameplay and challenge level. + credits look great. + use of color to let players know object is grabbable - subtle and great idea + sense of humor and story are wonderful and I can see it's something you really enjoyed doing - I can see you cared greatly for this. It's a fun and fantastic level. I applaud your willingness to take feedback and suggestions and apply them in your own way. It's a great quality to find in a creator. Gave this 5 stars & hearted it! Thank you for sharing it and adding another awesons sci-fi themed level into the world of LBP! I'll be back to play it again I'm positive. | 2009-08-03 18:34:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |

I am so happy you enjoyed and it was truly and honor to get so much feedback during it's creation from you. I owe you my sincere thanks for your wonderful insight and critical eye. ..and yes, I listen and owe April, my beloved and wonderful girlfriend, so so so much. Not only all the time on the PS3, but her thoughts and advice as well. I thought her idea of mop buckets so silly and ridiculous that I just had to do it! I knew I had something cool when she came home, got a look at them and laughed hysterically the rest of the evening. She never considered there to be a moving mop! LOL! Well, the new top score is going to be tough to beat! I was on an acing spree, what with The Bunker and The Collector's Lair (back to back aces to win me those ridiculous neon costume pieces), so I decided to ace your level as well. The only thing that could be improved is the fact that I missed two bubbles in two of my combos, but it's a small improvement. Good luck to any challengers... | 2009-08-03 20:00:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |

Ya know, I don't think I have tried to ace it, but I haven't really tried to get a top score since I know where all the secrets are already. Glad you enjoyed it to come back and put a high score up there! Nice that you are keeping that honor in the LBPC family so to speak! Thanks | 2009-08-03 20:07:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Well I was a Beta tester to, and gave you most of the cons I had over the last couple of weeks which you've fixed up, so what you have is a perfect level basically. I followed the level quite closely, who knows how many plays I've actually had on this thing Me and BasketSnake played it yesterday so I could rate it, and we both loved it. The enemy design was excellent, I don't think I'll ever touch a mop again, although that means nothing to the wife as I never did anyway!! I loved the turret mini-boss and the way that that it popped up, it looked great and was excellent to fight ( I had a minor gripe with the paintinator being off the path if you died, I told you it was minor!!!). The platforming, funny story and visuals were all excellent, and the length was very impressive. I thought the paintinator ride was great, a nice fresh idea that had me cursing that I'd never thought of it actually. I was also impressed with the intro (or outro!!) being at the end, it sets up part two nicely, which I hope I get another key to All in all, excellent, tagged brilliant, with 5*'s and a freshly beating heart | 2009-08-04 08:33:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |

WOW !!!! That is such an amazing compliment coming from one who must think in 3d puzzle pieces as well as wears a nice hat. Glad you enjoyed!!! Ha.. that sled ride just cracks me up.. It was a total accident that I discovered that one day and actually made a level in Beta with it for fun. I thought it silly enough to put it in as a mini game once I figured out a fun path over the top of that turret gun!! I only wish I had made it maybe a tad bit longer, but it was just a diversion and something to stun folks with. I wrestled with the paintinator on that path quite a bit and I agree 100%. I just didn't like it covering up my control panel stuff as well as it looked "in the way" in real world terms. I try to implement real world ideas to help explain platforming and game pieces. However, I found that you can walk right by and pick it up without going down for it, so I left it as is.. ..but if that is all you can find, then I am amazingly happy. Thanks again for all your comments, advice and play testing. It was not only invaluable, but a real treat. Rest assured another key will be coming your way, but not nearly as fast as you can whip them out!!! | 2009-08-04 15:00:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Hi Jwwphotos, finally had a change to play this the other day. Well.... what can i say that hasn't been said before? The design was really great, i like the trashy space theme, had a bit of a wall-e feeling. You also did a very good job on making the level look big and putting a lot of humor in it. Platform elements were good, not too hard and not too easy and i liked your bosses as well. Although i had some trouble with the first one because it was a bit hard to see on which layer I/they were. Maybe you could give them different colored plasmaballs like in the last boss? rated it 5 stars and gave it a well deserved heart. misty. | 2009-08-05 07:55:00 Author: Mother-Misty Posts: 574 |

I probably should have made different colors for the plasma balls on the first set and last set.. I found it more necessary for the middle one. However that is a good point that I will address in part 2. Unfortunately currently the thermometer is so full that doing anything except moving a piece of dark matter hid in a corner has it yelling at me to remove something!! Talk about stuffing a level full!! Trashy? Fascinating.. never really though of it that way!! ..but yeah, it is a ship that collects scrap and seems to create bug zappers for some strange reason! Hopefully that will be an interesting enough story to wrap up in Part 2!! Thanks again!! | 2009-08-05 12:24:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Played this the other day and loved it. I thought the design was great , the gameplay flowed beautifully and the difficulty was just about perfect for me personally. I liked the humour too. I loved the mop and bucket enemies too. They were brillliant and very funny. I wish I'd thought of that. BTW are they connected with an invisible rod ? The paintinator sled was cool as Grantos says. I did something very similar in the 'Little Vista Raceway' level which I made jointly with 'littlemanu' several months ago. If you'd like to check that out that would be great. | 2009-08-05 13:12:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |

Glad you enjoyed! Mop buckets had invisible pistons I believe you meant to say.. Yup, sure were. Oh wait.. no!! They were futuristic mop buckets.. they just float like that. Yeah... that's it.. LOL! I guess I did tell a bit of a fib in my opening level post as I did use a few MM 3d pieces in the level. Basically 3 things unless you start counting spikes, missles, and rockets!! The pencil (the wringer handle), a matchstick (the mop handle as well as parts on the junked ships) and a cute little teddy bear foot (mop head). I will check out Little Vista Raceway asap as I am curious to see how you used that!! ..oh I did leave some feedback on your latest creation Sheriff Sack : Cleaning up the town of Sackwood that I hope you find helpful. This is a great level, and I find it a bit of a disgrace that this masterpiece has a 3-star rating. the start of the level was pretty atmospheric, and it was a great way to start off the adventure. After that, I noticed the cool Sci-Fi themed visuals and the mop robots which were well designed. Another cool thing was that many of the areas in the level weren't single path. You could go a different way for more points and then head back. I struggle with making levels NOT linear. As already said, the style of humor is great and the chicken wing bait was HILARIOUS. You also added some original platforming elements. I never seen "rocket spring platforms" before and the paintinator race was ingenious. I struggled on the part where you have to swing from one sponge to another at the right time, but that was probably just because my small, not-so-sack brain couldn't notice that you had to swing to a different sponge at first. Overall I gave it :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart. Looking forward to part 2! | 2009-08-06 12:49:00 Author: lk9988 Posts: 1077 |

Overall I gave it :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart. Looking forward to part 2! Thanks so much!! I really needed this today.. I was feeling a bit down in looking at it the progress, but I think I just have to ignore the 3 stars as it had to be due to the rating being broken when I first published. I have considered deleting and starting over, but I dunno.. I hate starting all that over as well as dumping some of the nicest comments I have ever had on a level to date. ..I thought everyone had rocket propelled platforms!? You don't have them at home?! LOL! Yeah.. that was a pretty zany idea I had one day. My challenge is I didn't want to defeat that turret and simply walk through the debris or the void if I had used a brain on the whole thing. It isn't really wide enough to do any normal sense of platforming, though emitted platforms static platforms did come to mind. So I played around and came up with a few ideas. The first was those moving grab and turn platforms that worked really nicely, but decided it would be more fun to use those for the decent in the huge material dissipation machine thingy. The other idea I came up was so darn silly I had to do it, so Emer Lifts were born! LOL! Yeah.. the zip line was sorta silly in a way and thought it should be a challenge so I made it into 3 sections. It actually works really well in even up to 4 player and can each take a separate sponge ride. I probably should have lights or something to key off of, but the huge yellow and black sponge emitters I though would at least be a clue, especially after you die a few times. If I had the thermo, I would probably make sort of light box area behind them with leds and trigger them on emitting a new grabby. ahh well. I can't even adjust a camera in the thing now or it screams at me to delete something!! Again.. I really appreciate your comments. Means quite a bit. #2 will be along hopefully in the next month or so, but taking a break for awhile. Never fear.. I suspect it will get even zanier.. Thanks again!! | 2009-08-06 14:43:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |

Hey I've just played your level! First I must say that scifi and space stuff are not my favorite themes, but I really enjoyed yours (wich means it's a very good level ) As others say, there's some humor, and I like the fact that it's not too serious (liked the cleaning robots..) Design and visual are great, and some very nice ideas for the gameplay. As I'm not the best player, I found it a little hard but thanks to the infinite life check points, I made it trough to the end! So it's all good for me! Very good work :star::star::star::star::star: and heart | 2009-08-06 21:58:00 Author: dajdaj03 Posts: 1486 |

You know - I've played this thing about 7 or 8 times now..... still love it. I've been bringing in tour groups (in sets of 3's) to play too. Wanna see something funny.... watch younger players go for the chicken leg.... priceless. lol - just thought I'd share that. | 2009-08-06 22:45:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |

Great to hear you have been visiting quite a bit! It can be a bit tricky with 4, but totally doable with some cooperation. ..almost make me wonder if I should pull the 1 - 2 suggestion.. hmmmm.. | 2009-08-06 23:35:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |

the mops reminded me of space quest for some reason.... which is a good thing. i loved that game. LOL!!! No kiddin.. Well to be honest, I had originally thought about Space Quest when working on this level and had thought about giving it that sort of feel. Though after I got going.. I totally forgot about it till you just mentioned it!! LOL!! The mop buckets were my girlfriends idea although she never dreamed of adding a working mop assembly. I will never forget how long she laughed when she finally got a look at them wandering around. I still get a chuckle, especially the one at the closing credits. They are just so darn silly and so "me". Thanks again! Really appreciate your comments! | 2009-08-07 17:35:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
I don't think there's anything I can say that hasn't already been mentioned, so I'll just say one thing. It was great. I really liked the overlooking camera angle in the beginning and those mop robots were hilarious. The way you changed the colors for each bullet for it's corresponding plane was so simple but oh so effective. In fact, it inspired me to do the same thing in my level. Another thing I really enjoyed was the giant slide. It was a relaxing ride My only complaint is w/ the conveyer belt section. The passage was so small that I kept getting electrocuted. That made me mad, so I tried plowing through the garbage, but I kept dying, so that made me even angrier. But once I took it slow, everything worked. Stupid me. :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart | 2009-08-09 07:42:00 Author: RickTheRipper Posts: 345 |
Hi JWW, thank you for your comments on my level. you already know I love this level so I 'll type as I play through and try give some constructive critism as well. OK start. I like the dark mysterious opening. I love when creators go to the trouble of adding the little details...... Little lights on objects, those med boxes that emit pointsthe little circle that rotates, all unecessary, but its those things that add a little umph to a level I feel. The mops are genius enough said on that! When you put the power thing in you have a nice little sequence of events instead of just opening the door, again the little details that add to imersement. The the 3 guys you need to get with the paintinator were a little average for me and didn't really do much. That being said I'm not the biggest fan of the paintinator myself and know how hard it is to design gameplay around (just look at my dodgy boss battle in the first of my trilogy ) I love the seection that comes next and again the chicken drumstick is freaking hilarious. wow, the 3 turrets that pop out rock. I just said it was hard to design good gameplay for the paitinator but these things look great and I like the way you gave each one a different colour plasma ball to help differinciate the planes. I loved the race. I hadn't seen that gameplay before and it was simple yet effective. nice work. I'd like to see this gameplay expanded upon (maybe in SE2?) the part where you swing down and have to let go and grab onto a new one took me a while to get the hang of. The last one was kind of hidden so I was wondering what I was doing wrong for a while there. Oh I forgot to mention the humour through this is great. I love when a bit of lightheartedness is put into a level. OK thats all I got This was a 5 star and hearted experiance for me and Im looking forward to part 2. | 2009-08-09 12:19:00 Author: wexfordian Posts: 1904 |
What a cool level! Congrats on the spotlight - it's well deserved! I have to admit, I'm pretty impatient when it comes to community levels, if they've not grabbed me in the first minute or so, it's usually back to pod. I played this through twice though, so I hope that tells you something. Oozing with charm (Those cleaner bots were superb!), a visual pleasure, nicely hidden secrets and a great variety of obstacles and enemies. Think the movement of the 3 layer boss the other side of the gas pit is worth a mention too, looked amazing! - Oh also the chicken had me in stitches. My only (Very minor) con and something I'm guilty of myself, would be a couple of the jumps, although doable, were a teeny bit further than was comfortable to jump. So minor it's not even worth changing, just maybe something to consider next time. 5 Stars and a Heart from me, looking forward to Part II. | 2009-08-09 12:25:00 Author: Kiminski Posts: 545 |
(Trimming down to mostly the cons since the original post is above.) My only complaint is w/ the conveyor belt section. The passage was so small that I kept getting electrocuted. That made me mad, so I tried plowing through the garbage, but I kept dying, so that made me even angrier. But once I took it slow, everything worked. Stupid me. Thanks so much! ..sorry about the conveyor, but you really need to be more careful around heavy machinery. LOL! To be honest, I actually toned that down a bit before publishing it. I could do it just fine even when harder, but I also played the thing a few hundred times and got pretty good at grabbing bits (it is grabbable) as well as shoving it around to help plan jumps. When I had toned it down even more with the way I was doing them, it became a sparse cakewalk and not much fun at all. So I left it as is. I thought it fun as it was more a haphazard and more random bit of platforming. Some luck, planning and patience as well as the small electrical bits that that come down the conveyor keeps you thinking on your toes a bit. Thanks so much for the comments! The the 3 guys you need to get with the paintinator were a little average for me and didn't really do much. The last one was kind of hidden so I was wondering what I was doing wrong for a while there. Wow.. so awesome for you to go into so much detail Wex! Glad you enjoyed as well as picked up on all the tiny bits I was trying to stuff in there. Means quite a bit coming from such an accomplished pro like yourself ...I've learned quite a bit in my time here and glad it is paying off so well! ..sorta like I feel I can implement my vision rather than settling for 'ok sorta' if you squint a bit.... The first paintenator bits.. yeah, I know.. There is actually a reason for those being a bit lame, but you will have to stay tuned for part two. What I did try, is to give you an enemy that was attacking to sort of bring you into the storyline of the automated pest control as well as a bit of quick panic since mop buckets were mindlessly roaming right behind if you backed up too much. The paintenator race.. you might possibly seem more of that.. and then you might see something even more bizarre. Stay tuned!! The triple zip line... I should have added a few lights around the next area to possibly sequence your eye to the next grabby. The big huge emitter platforms were supposed to do that, but they probably get a bit lost since your eye is diverted by the light and electrified thin layer. So I made the proceeding portal infinite. Thanks again and appreciate the comments!! I have to admit, I'm pretty impatient when it comes to community levels, if they've not grabbed me in the first minute or so, it's usually back to pod. I will try to refrain from getting all sappy, but that means lots to me as I have so much respect and admiration for your work. On the jumps.. I know where you mean and at one point, felt I should have tweaked that a bit more, but I will just take that as great info for round 2. The level screams at me that it has completely overheated if I try to do much of anything at this point! Thanks again and really happy you enjoyed enough to play twice!!! Wow.. Too cool! Thanks again everyone! | 2009-08-09 18:39:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Hey great level! I really enjoyed it, you've got a great concept and excellent platforming in here! favorite part has to be the writing tho... so funny >< Only time i got a little stuck was near the beginning with the key. Maybe i was more distracted by the swinging ropes, but i didn't realize what the key was when i saw it. Probably just me, but you use the speech bubbles to guide the action well through the rest of the level and if you put one there it would help ADD players like myself (This is really just a ploy to get you writing more snarky dialog ) Also i thought the trash conveyor belt was such a cool idea. I'd love to see a longer version of that! (could even make for a cool 4 player minigame... with a community level key hidden near the original perhaps?) but yeah really enjoyed it, good job! | 2009-11-04 20:53:00 Author: madcowj Posts: 20 |
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! Actually there is one at the base near where the key goes. If you use the grabby to go down then you land in the zone perfectly, if you jump off a bit far you may have missed that. I was almost thinking of doing some different speech bubbles depending on if you saw this or not saw that.. in that case I would have fired another around the key. I had one for quite awhile, but some testers found it redundant. I ended up taking the easy route and made the area of the initial I need a key portion bigger and felt the grabby was too tempting to pass up and therefore resolved the issue. Good thoughts though for #2... I will keep that in mind and hopefully avoid anything like that in the future! I like the idea of that challenge too.. might be a fun mini game to try sometime. Thanks again! | 2009-11-04 21:18:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Can I start by saying this is in my top 10 favourite levels I have played. I've read through this thread and to save repetition I agree with all the positive comments. It's one of the very few levels which had me coming back to try and beat the top score but actually still enjoying the level. The mops reminded me of Fantasia in their movement, very cool. The conveyor belt is so random I think it works perfectly. One time I would sail through it, the next I would be shouting at the TV when the electric pieces got me! That part reminded me of the scene in Star Wars when they are in the trash/garbage and the walls are closing in- a similar feeling to when you are getting pushed closer to the electric by a pile of pieces you can't jump over! I really like the orange hand-rail bits; the intricate design was very pleasing on the eye. And the satisfying sequence of sounds and lights when you push the key into the lock is a treat. Having thought long and hard about any negatives the best I can think of is I really don't like the ending music when going up in the lift. Maybe just my taste but I felt it doesn't feel 'spacey' enough, even though it is a great tune. Anyway, I fear I may be repeating others comments so I will leave it there. Apart from: Well, the new top score is going to be tough to beat! The only thing that could be improved is the fact that I missed two bubbles in two of my combos, but it's a small improvement. Good luck to any challengers... ...it blooming well was a tough score to beat! Got there in the end (after about 30 attempts!) I missed one combo (I think) and also I can't find one of the prize bubbles, which makes me sad... I wish I could give this enough stars to take the average up to at least 4 stars. If this is a 3 star level then I'll eat my automated mop bucket! I gave it :star::star::star::star::star:/Brilliant. | 2009-11-05 11:40:00 Author: skyway73 Posts: 37 |
Wow... thanks so much for that! That makes me happy. If you want to find the missing bubble, you can pm me of what ones you did find, I might give you a hint to where the missing one is. I completely agree on the music, but I was looking at it more as the ending credits in a movie theater like when everyone is leaving and the mop bucket is still cleaning up the place. So to me that music seemed perfect, but to your point the transition to the elevator might have been a bit less abrupt. So thanks for that.. good thoughts for future reference. Basically, I just ran out of thermo and had to end the level where it was. The good news is I am finally again working on Space Escape II. | 2009-11-05 14:12:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
This was just awesome. I see this level wears LBPs badge of excellence... 3 stars. You got 5 from me. I'd really like to disect your brain and steal some of your creativeness... you always have such unique, intriquing and atmospheric "landscapes" (a better word escapes my mind atm). They really lend themselves to inspire exploration (you know the "I wonder whats up in this corner?"). Anywho... just wanted to thank you for all the time and effort you put into your levels. I know I find alot of entertainment and challenge in them. | 2009-11-30 15:01:00 Author: enodrawkcab Posts: 238 |

I know I find alot of entertainment and challenge in them. Thanks so much for that! Really appreciate that and I didn't have to send you money or anything! At least I hope I don't!? LOL!! Also thanks for such a nice comment on the level. I don't visit those as much as I should and noticed yours the other day and meant to extend my gratitude. Those are the reason why I would never delete the level and start over. I have those as my stars. It really is nice knowing my work is enjoyed and appreciated as it really makes me smile. Thanks so much!! Of course all that is about to go down the drain once Space Escape II comes out! LOL!! You all have such high expectations! The pressure!! ...and you can sorta pop in space too. Oh noooooo!! Not to worry.. so far I have quite a few fun things that I have been working on and even gotten some "squeals of approval" from a few that I have showed some bits. Hope to have it out sometime in December!! ..which probably means January knowing me!! LOL! | 2009-11-30 16:16:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
I played this level and i loved it, it was a little tricky, nevermind i like space levels I rated 5 star | 2010-02-25 20:21:00 Author: joshuaB37 Posts: 13 |
Thanks so much! Hope you get a chance to try out the next one in the series that is already out. I feel I improved quite a bit as a creator since this one, but you might find it is a bit trickier! | 2010-02-25 20:32:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
