Dates and Deletions

Archive: 10 posts

Just been discussing some of this on a different thread.

I really want to see a 'First Published' date on levels. It wouldn't necessarily stop level duplication or reproduction by other creators (though it may put some off), but it would confirm once and for all when a creator ORIGINALLY published the level.

In addition, I'd love to see the ability given to a creator to delete any photos that were posted on their levels. At the moment, if you get an inappropriate image posted, you either have to hurriedly post up nine images of your own, or risk someone good griefing it, and eventually moderation or deletion. Seems unfair to me that the person posting up the image gets away with it, while the creator gets their level deleted.

Food for thought, maybe?

Both great suggestions. I've found myself wishing there was a way to tell when a level was first published, so this would be great.2009-08-01 16:28:00

Yeah it's been asked for a lot, would take little time to implement and would be wonderful.

One issue I see with the dates would prevent copying etc. It's easilly circumventable by just uploading a locked, empty level, ready for when you do want to copy someone. Of course you wouldnt' get the coverage on cool pages using this. But you could happily fake an earlier date for your copied work, which would be more than enough to convince enough people to get on a witch hunt. It would be unscrupulous, but so is copying someone's level...

A thought though....
If you publish a level, then republish... Won't the comments have an approximate date of publishing implied?

That's true - but I suppose as the comments start to rack up it will become less and less likely that players will bother to check the first comments.

Sadly, a lot of players don't read the comments anyway as they start to fill up with plz.play.my.lvls etc.

Great idea, but until something like this happens, couldn't one just put something like "First published on MM/DD/YY" in the description or something?2009-08-01 18:08:00

I've deleted most of my older levels and republished from scratch minus a few thousand plays and hearts and whatnot, so even if you go back to the oldest comment, it's still not an accurate reflection of it's age. Even with a dating system it wouldn't be a true date... but it'd be handy to have the date available either way.

Also, the pic thing is a must.

I agree with the "Originally Published" Date and the Photo Deletion. I believe both of these simple implementation should've been a common sense, must-have implementation in this game. It will greatly reduce copying and people would know they just can't post any old picture they want.

And frankly, I don't read the comments at all, unless the author needs feedback or the level is pretty unpopular and really good. Noobs are always posting: "Plz play my new level, blah blah blah." It's really annoying to see on popular levels. They really should just visit this site if they want some plays and honest feedback!

As I said in another thread, don't know if the same you're talking about MrsSpooky, I would appreciate a publish date, so I'm 100% with you, not 100% sure about the pics.2009-08-02 07:21:00

Two commonly suggested features, and two suggestions that I think are very good ideas. With the photo deletions thing, I don't see any flaws with it, and the date feature would also be nearly flawless.2009-08-02 12:58:00
