http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=603&pictureid=5234this is a level i've been playing with for a while and i don't expect it to become anything other than my personal toy, but i've been working on it on and off. I'd like to know what you guys think of it though.

This level has a little bit of everything and a whole lot of nothing. just my little slice of.....i dunno. cheesecake. Mmm........cheesecake....

erm...what? oh yea. the level. it has a race, a not-so-secret area, and a few fun little extras, on top of my two trams that i play with ever so often.

Here are some screenies.

the first tram.

end of the first tram.

a little ferris wheel of sorts.

You can skip the race and still go through the tower, but whats the fun in that. and....i think this tower is leaning........

hmm. for not being a level, it seems very level-esk

:star: I liked the minimal design of the tram and the butterfly-style doors and railings. Nice and clean. I Had a lot of fun grabbing the go button at the end of the line, stepping off the tram and watching the chaos that ensued!

:star: The race nice puzzles and obsticals. my fave was the part where you had to put the correct white circle into the correct white circle holder.

:star:The glass elevator is really nice! I wanted to ride it some more. neat trick having it operated by two differant switches.

:star:the second tram was nice, too, but didn't crash as beatuifully as the first.

all in all, an enjoyable level with fun things to do, and play with. I'd like to see it develop into a full fledged level with a less modular feel. good stuf!

Aha! a bug to squash! Yep. that was due to a logic error that I had made when going from all pistons to all wobble bolts in the logic. It took all of 5 mins to re-wire it so no crashing ensues. the problem with the grab & release switch i was using was that there was no way to make it work more like a one shot without adding some convoluted mechanism to it (which I just figured out whilst typing this, but i'm still gonna use the pistons anyway.)

As for the rest, yea. it does feel...slapped together with wacky glue and duct tape....i'm gonna get to working on that.

Thanks for the input!

I got to tinker with the thing some more.

:star: I've removed the ferris wheel and the racing tower to make way for a new one. I'm gonna try and make one that is a bit easier to add to/remove from. the current incarnation only has a couple of puzzles but its really just a test for the new layout.

:star:I've also hidden the switch for the race in the bunker instead of just putting it in the path, and I've fixed the little elevator to the bunker

:star:Other than that, I put a flicker switch to make the lamps and candles give more atmosphere to the place and tweaked/debugged stuff a bit.

noooooo! Dont fix the tram! It's so much fun the way it was! Waaaaa!

I was thinking you could even add crashing and crunching sound effects!

heck! you could even emit some extra debris for added drama!

Well, I just spent some time making a new tram to put in the level, and I have to say i'm about 3 seconds away from "head a splode" here....

See, the old one that i made is a one way trip, but it acts right. by that i mean it slowly builds up to top speed as it starts, and slows down to a fairly gentle stop at the end of its track. I loved how smoothly it ran like that, but one thing irritated me....it couldn't go back.

Well, the new one fixes that problem. it'll go back and forth and seems pretty stable, at least in single player. However, Now i cant use a throttle on it. its either going back, forward, or its not going at all. I didn't think at first that it was such a big deal, but it just feels so.......poorly done without it.

The only way i can think to fix it is to have two separate sets of wheels, one set going in each direction, all hooked up to the throttle. when you select the direction, that set of wheels is set into place. The only problem with this idea is, simply put, It SUCKS! Everything i have tried has either not worked, barely worked, or worked really well.....for all of 10 seconds.

/rant

So...uhm. the new tram is in a level called Tram to Nowhere V.2 Any ideas would be appreciated. I'm going to take a nap now.
