Futurama is back, baby! (with original cast)

So, there has been much discussion regarding the future of Futurama lately. Recently, it was announced the Comedy Central* was going to pick up Futurama and air the upcoming season. With this announcement, however, came much speculation over the voice-cast. Initially, it was reported that the original voice cast would not be returning, much to the chagrin of Futurama fans everywhere.

Today, however, 20th Century Fox announced the the entire voice cast will be returning in the upcoming season!

This is great news for me, as Futurama is my all-time favorite show. Most people don't get the multi-leveled humor, but it's smart, funny, and just a great show all around.

Edit: *I'm trying to confirm this, but I remember reading this somewhere. It may, in fact, be aired on Fox, making Futurama the second show to be cancelled, only to be picked up again by the same network (Family Guy being the other, also on Fox). Yeah futurama took a long time to grow on me... then I loved it so much I put all the seasons on my ipod... Still it never really has found its audience.2009-08-01 05:16:00

If your point is that the show has been talked about being cancelled...like ever season its' been on, then yeah you made your point.

Look at LBPC. We are the largest LBP fan site right? One stop shopping right? Most users (not even members) ever online @ once 277!

Yeah, the return was announced a few weeks ago. Then they said that the original voice actors wouldn't be returning, but now they are, and the reptillian Space-Pope is pleased.2009-08-01 07:57:00

I am SO relieved the voice cast is on board. I would probably have avoided the new season without them!!

That said, I thought the 4 dvd movies were only so-so, I am hoping the return to a 25 minute format will be an improvement.
And most of all, I am hoping for the return of the original composer, I sorely missed his sound in the movies.

I'm a huge fan of Futurama and I hope they can still retain the quality of the original 4 seasons.
Shows returning isn't always a good idea ya know.... (look at family guy, still funny at times but totally different from before its cancellation)		2009-08-01 08:00:00

I dunno, I thought they were a bit mixed, but they had some of the classic futurama geek humour in them... I also think I down rated them in my head because I thought of them as feature films etc etc.

Anyway I bought all 4 dvds because the general line was always that if the DVDs did well enough the show would return. As far as I'm concerned, this cannot be a bad thing. Even if the new series is dire, we're no worse off than we are now. And if the new series is amazing (which it will be ), then yay!		2009-08-01 13:37:00

I believe that this will be season #5, but they did some confusing thing where they called the movies the fifth season. So, maybe this is season 6?

Edit: Wikipedia has the movies listed as season 5, so this will be season 6.		2009-08-01 15:55:00
