What the Hell is This?! (Video added)

Earlier today something interesting yet rather scary happened: Video.flv video by redhotchilehobbit - Photobucket I was playing in an online four-player game with Morgana and a couple others which failed on us when we tried to move pod. It said that it was unable to load the state from another player or something, I don't know. Whatever it was, we were back in our pods, the online game had been broken and so I decided to go into create mode. Then from out of the blue, every single character I played with a couple of minutes earlier turned up in create mode. Morgana's sackgirl was there, and so were the other two (xTrophx and Stove1234). No-one was controlling them, you couldn't interact with them, they just floated and occasionally looked around. The game knew they were there because when I saved it, I got the trophy "Team Creator". I took pictures and sent them to Morgana, sadly I had to delete them due to my profile being full. I have recorded a video so it'll be a little clearer... Anyone else encountered this glitch? | 2009-07-31 10:39:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
(Censorship, plz.) This is new. I've never heard of a "multi-character" glitch like that. How you managed to get them all into create mode without the controllers present is beyond me. Maybe it might be cuz the game was saving pod settings while the party got disconnected, resulting in some sort of "glitch" that although separated the players, saved the character's they were playing with (temporarily). If I'm reading your post right, the characters didn't come back when you returned to your pod. The game probably filtered it out (just like the "exploding bomb" glitch) before file data could be altered/corrupted/saved. Posting the video would help explain the situation a-lot more, since I personally am a bit confused about what exactly was going on. | 2009-07-31 10:54:00 Author: Outlaw-Jack Posts: 5757 |
I had this happen a couple of days ago but not to that extent. The game was really laggy again and after getting the 'verifying connection to host' umpteen times as usual I then got the other usual ones of 'preloading game resources' and 'error game diverged' etc. etc. I decided to stay on my own and do some creating and one character appeared with me too but after a few seconds they popped off. Also another weird one a day or two ago when I was trying to play online with friends again although it's a waste of time trying because it hasn't been possible for weeks now. The game diverged again as usual and said I had become game host. We were in my Balboa Park level at the time so I restarted but when it reloaded I was in a completely blank level yet when I pressed start and looked at 'about level' it said the name of the level and description as normal altough the level was empty. I thought for one horrible minute it had deleted my entire level but I went back to the pod and entered the level again and it was ok. Things like this have gotten much much worse since online create beta started. I'll be glad when that's done with because it's really messing the game up big time. Also the last update reintroduced the old bug which causes my PS3 to keep freezing completely and the controller shutting off on it's own. I can't believe MM save these terrible bugs so they can give them back to us at a later date. | 2009-07-31 11:27:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
(Censorship, plz.) ??? Anyway, zOMG...a glitch I haven't experienced! Yay! I'd be very interested in seeing that video, is it uploaded anywhere? | 2009-07-31 11:34:00 Author: ARD Posts: 4291 |
Sounds like a bit of code from a future feature is in there. | 2009-07-31 13:15:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Sounds like a bit of code from a future feature is in there. Just sounds like a lag problem to me. The game received the information on the "disconnected" players late, but interpreted them anyway. I wonder if there would be ways to use this as a kind of back door to get other players into create mode with you. >.> <.< | 2009-07-31 13:46:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
Sounds like a bit of code from a future feature is in there. Methinks you are correct. | 2009-07-31 13:49:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
I had something similar happen two days ago but kind of different & it completely weirded me out . i was playing with a friend & choosing play on our own. Mid way through ,a bit of lag occured and an extra sack was shown to have joined in the top left corner . Was pretty spooky, & then game diverged before we could question this mystery sack ,lo | 2009-07-31 14:05:00 Author: J-Bear Posts: 85 |
Yesterday, while trying to join a friend, I received the same "unable to load the state from another player or something" for two times. The first time I was taken to my POD, but without the sackboy, the game actually froze, but I was able to have access to the XMB, so I got out of the game, entered back, then I tried to join again. Same message, but I was taken (without sackboy) to my friend's pod. Again the game has frozen... | 2009-07-31 14:26:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
Yeah mine just froze again while looking at my published levels. Had to switch off at the PS3 as the controller wasn't working at all. | 2009-07-31 15:37:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
This happened to me a while ago. (Guess they still haven't fixed it ;P) | 2009-07-31 15:43:00 Author: SawronZXZ Posts: 463 |
hmm, for myself freezing has always been an issue with the ps3 in general when online, but more so on home or lbp. its reasuring to know others are freezing too. Reminds me of the good old days when games were loaded on tape & could 'crash' at any minute . i can almost feel the rubber keys of the spectum 48k lol | 2009-07-31 15:49:00 Author: J-Bear Posts: 85 |
Yup, I can verify this happens - only ever in LBP. When doing a server operation such in cool pages or on my moon it will hard lock - need to completely shut it off and turn it on. | 2009-07-31 16:00:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
I have the photos you sent me Korndawgg - provided I had my profile under control at that point. I'll post them tonight if I still have them. Looking at the pics it's really weird. My character is hovering in front of Troph's and there are wires clearly visible from the switches behind us so it's definitely create mode that Korndawgg's in. We were having lag (some pretty bad) while we were playing but that's been the norm for a few weeks now. I'm also getting failed to load level errors a lot when trying to load levels online and game diverged messages too. Just to clarify - we were not still connected to Korndawgg when this happened. It was just our characters floating there. Every since 1.17 things have been screwy (well - screwier) in LBP. | 2009-07-31 17:35:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
Lifeless characters staring out at you from Create Mode? Sounds like a LittleBigHorrorMovie to me. | 2009-07-31 17:53:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |
Haha, well not much longer till online create comes out, the beta is awesome so far! =) | 2009-07-31 18:43:00 Author: DanC Posts: 433 |
Wow, i havent seen this one before, and my game lags terribly all the time, weird | 2009-07-31 19:33:00 Author: springs86 Posts: 785 |
A video has been added, I do believe this is a bit of coding for something for the future or something that was going to be featured but never quite made it. Or it could easily be just version 1.17 screwing around again. | 2009-07-31 21:18:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
The video is even weirder than the pics. Nice close-up of my sack girl though | 2009-07-31 21:37:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
Crazy video man. I wonder if the sacks were in their pods at the time doing something else and you discovered a little big parallel universe only it was a frozen snap shot of one of many possible futures within that particular little big dimension. Of course this is only a theory . | 2009-08-01 02:03:00 Author: J-Bear Posts: 85 |

Wow that's pretty funny, nothing like that has ever happened to me, I wonder what caused it. | 2009-08-01 16:13:00 Author: Dr_Vab Posts: 134 |
I went into create mode once and my friend popped in with me for a moment, but then she was kicked right out of the game. I never had anyone hang there for that long, that's for sure! That video is crazy. | 2009-08-01 17:59:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
It's almost creepy (Stepford Sacks) the way they all three snap their heads down and to the side, then upward. Were they perhaps doing the Thriller dance, in yet another homage to MJ? | 2009-08-01 18:03:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
rofl, when something like that happens it is creepier than you'd imagine . But not as creepy as your judo kitten : ) | 2009-08-01 19:10:00 Author: J-Bear Posts: 85 |
