I really hope its just costumes. Not sure if I would fork out for a psp just for 1 game.2009-07-30 14:30:00

We already knew this...
*sigh* It's that whole "thought it was common knowledge" thing again.

Anyway, I for one certainly hope it's more than costumes.

Does it say what bonus content? (filters are an issue)

But yes, this is an outrage. It had better just be costumes.

Considering we have no idea what the bonus content is, I think it's a bit premature to bring out the pitchforks.

I have no issue with this kind of marketing gimmick, as long as the content unlocked is insignificant.

Personally, I'm getting a lot more gaming time with my PSP-1000 than with my PS3.

I think everyone's upset because they either don't have psp's or don't want to buy the psp version.

Either way, I am excited about this. I was on the fence before, but this has pushed me over the edge.

People are annoyed because it's a cheap marketing trick, regardless of the content. If the content is insignificant, then I'll let it slide.

If the content is significant (i.e anything for create mode) then you are asking some people to fork out stupid amounts on money to be on a level playing field. They could just put the content as paid for DLC, but it's cheap marketting to drive sales on an entirely separate product.

Yeah, if it's something cool it would definitely convince me to pick up the PSP version.2009-07-30 15:02:00

It will not be significant content, we can be pretty sure of that.
It will probably just be costumes and perhaps acces to some new stickers or objects but that's about it.

Connectivity isn't something new at all. They just want to make it sound cool with LBP.

Nintendo invented this horrendous idea (they stopped doing it for the most part, realising it's bull) it's just Sony that are slow on the news.

Outrun PSP was unlocking stuff in Outrun PS2 already (just an example from the top of my head)

Honestly, I know a lot of people without psp's (and without desire to get the psp version) are going to be upset, but having inter-connectivity is a brilliant marketing ploy on MM's part. People on the fence about getting it will probably have some incentive to do so now (myself included). Even if it's just costumes and stickers, it will be a welcome addition to the ps3 version. I predict, though, that there will be at least a couple of new materials (which are always welcome), as well as some new sounds.

Ah, I hate to speculate, but we can all dream, can't we...?

from the top of my head I know that assassin's creed 2 and the PSP version will have this too, you'll be able to unlock quite some new weapons to use in AC2 if you got the PSP version.

resistance 2 and resistance retribution too.

I sure didn't imply that. I also hate it. It's useless marketing crap to foul people into buying 2 games instead of one. Also, there NEVER was a useful connectivity EVER. And this is perfectly understandle because it's just a marketing ploy. Game designers around the world doesn't want to seperate the crowds.

Great! I really like the PSP, the more people that buy it the more compelling a platform it is for developers which equals more and better games for me to play!

You mean pack a download voucher with it?

Cause having a UMD with a UMDless console is kinda pointless D:

Boo!
Hissss!
Didn't the PSP die a horrible death in season 3... I thought the smoke monster got it or a plane fell on its head! Maybe it was voted-off in a blindsided tribal council...

What?

I'm thinking Mm knows where there bread is buttered... Sony however would cook-up anything to get some market penetration... Everyone I've ever known who bought a PSP returned it w/o exception.

"...the tribe has spoken."

I too don't really like this marketing gimmick. If it's just stuff like a few extra costumes, then I'll be fine with it, but if it's anything like extra important create mode features, they're just basically asking the thousands of people who own LBP but not a PSP to get a PSP just to keep up with the content. Although I think it'll just be some costumes.2009-08-02 12:47:00

But really all those wwho hat MM for doing this it really isn't there fault... I mean the other developer would've decided to put this in would they not?

It is probably gonna be a PSP to hold in your sackboys hand or something anyway... Nothing to get too fussed over.... Probably

I bought one from a good friend who, yes indeed, didn't love it at all....and he is a "Sony fanboy".
And now it lies here gathering lots of dust waiting for a sackboy.

It was expected that the PSP version would unlock new goodies.
Nothing special I think, some costumes that are available in the PSP version will be transferred to the PS3 version and perhaps vice versa as well.

Since MM isn't developing the game getting their IP on another platform should only help them. How about those folks that bought a PSP, don't you think it's good that Sony is attempting to deliver new software for them to play. Sure they want to make money, they're not a charity. And I wouldn't be surprised if the unlocks are available for individual purchase from PSN at a later date for the same reason.

Everyone I've ever known who bought a PSP returned it w/o exception.

Sounds like you know a lot of foolish people that buy stuff on impulse without doing any research. If you know what you're buying and know what games are available I don't see how anyone could be disappointed in a PSP purchase. I got mine at launch (also have a 3000 now), for WipeOut Pure, a fantastic game. There was a bit of a game drought for a while but I've always been able to find something I wanted to play, there's lots of good games for the PSP now...and it's the only way I can play Monster Hunter, one of the few titles to log more hours than LBP.

I could have sworn that the producer used the word "theme" when describing what would be unlocked, and also equated "theme" to "background" when talking about levels in the PSP game.

It's because of this that alot of people I've talked to have assumed that it's a background or more we're talking about here.

That being said, if the option is between content being a PSP bonus or not getting added at all ... I'm ALL for it being a PSP bonus.

"Even playing field"? Some people don't have the money for standard DLC as it is. (Also, I didn't know creating content for LBP was suppose to be competitive) Also, you know that "glitched central" thing people here are putting together here ... for the exclusive use of LBPC members? This is something that would also create an "uneven playing field", but I haven't heard anyone here object to it on those grounds that I recall.

This is just DLC with a bonus PSP game attached. I for one, hope it's something interesting. If it is, MM can have my money. If it's not, I probably won't bother with it.

In terms of even playing field, I suppose that was a poor choice of words I didn't mean to say it was competitive. I just think that the content should be available to everyone on the same terms. Some people say they can't afford the standard DLC, but at least that DLC is available for them to buy at the same price as everyone else (give or take some discrepancies in conversion rates). In this case I am expected to buy two additional, unrelated products, that I don't want and will never use, at a cost of god knows how much, just to get my hands on a ?5 bit of DLC, that I would happily pay the ?5 for. Therefore me the cost of this DLC is hundreds, to someone who was going to buy the game anyway and has a PSP, the cost is 0. I think that's pretty uneven.

Obviously I would feel less strongly if I owned a PSP and was going to buy the game anyway, but I'd still think it was tacky marketting. Because it is.

Glitched central is for LBPC members. It's free to join this site and everyone can do so. I don't see how that would be uneven...
